It's great seeing ephemera that's actually ephemeral: newspaper clippings, printed ads, and the like. Such a simple way to show them off, and yet they gain more importance and interest this way.
Thank you. I appreciate that. Sometimes we overlook simple items around us because they seem too ordinary and forget that not only is there beauty there but that is the actual definition of ephemera. Everyday items not designed to be retained or preserved.
Kirsten - one day I hope to explain how your videos made halfway around the world from me comforted me and the enjoyment I get from watching you cut newspapers and ads (etc), and how bolstering they have been for me at this particular time in my life. Thank you, sincerely. And only my kindest and warmest wishes for a wonderful 2025 for you there in Australia. Kindest regards and many thanks, Heidi in Vancouver BC Canada
That's so kind of you to say Heidi. Sending all the best back to you as well. I’ll keep loving what I do and I hope you are able to continue to enjoy it also 😁
I loved watching this video. The piano music, the cutting, the sticking. Your ephemera folder looks great. I must've missed that video. I shall have a look now 😍🌷
I missed you ystrday think i remebred youare taking time for yourself... BRAVO 👏 I love that we can find EPHEMERA in many places if we just look around... LOVE FROM IDAHO, Julie* ❤
Thanks so much, Julie! I'm glad you find things to inspire you. I hope you go back and look at some old videos if you are at a loose end 😁 there is a lot I’ve done over the years!!
What a great idea. Love the Japanese newspaper, there is a mysterious element to the ephemera when you are not able to understand what it says. Where do you get your newspapers from? So thrilled to find another Aussie here and had a bit of a giggle how you are using your medicare card. New subscriber for you, hugs & cheers.
Welcome welcome! I am fortunate enough to have traveled to Japan and always make sure to bring back a couple of newspapers when I do 😁 they last a long time! I have found Chinese ones in certain parts of the city in Perth as well so it’s always a good idea to keep your eyes open when you are out and about. I’m always on the hunt for written ephemera in languages other than English. It always fun to have! I imagine it loses a little of its magic when you can read it. 😝
This video came up in my recommendations and I am so glad that I watched it. I so enjoyed watching you make your ephemera from the newspaper. What a great idea and one that i will implement for myself. It was so soothing watching you cut and glue that I seriously could have watched for hours, I have subscribed and will now be watching your previous videos and enjoying them also, I am sure.
Now, this is how Ephemera should like. Great stash you have created there, Penny :). I have always been drawn towards creating Japanese and Chinese, as I just love those as a theme. Just tried searching for places to buy Japanese and Chinese newspapers in Aus. As normal, it directed me straight to Etsy, where everything are downloads, which I don't want as I want the actual newspaper. Then I found a bookshop in Sydney that sells Japanese and Chinese books, but couldn't find newspapers. Note. Need to find some friends in Japan and China who would love to send me some, lol. Have plenty of business contacts in China, and have tried to get them to send me some, but no luck so far. Anyone know where In Aus I can buy these newspapers?
Some suburbs in perth produce local newspapers in Chinese. I’ve been lucky enough to come across one before but I couldn’t tell you exactly where. Your local newsagent might be able to source foreign text newspapers but I don’t know for sure 🤷♀️
@@pennyrosejournals I did not know that. Pitty I do not live closer. I have asked both our news agency down here, several times over the years, I have been trying to source, but as we have none of these cultures in our community, they will not get them in, which I understand.

These are lovely. I really like interesting little pieces of ephemera like this. I think they look so interesting 🙂💚
Better yet they are so simple to make! 😁
