I developed an allergy to shrimp as an adult but had eaten it throughout my whole life before. Just shrimp does this, no other seafood or shellfish, which is weird right? Its one of my favorite foods so I learned that the fresher the shrimp the less likely I am to have a reaction. I get them sometimes super fresh & thoroughly cleaned & make them myself. I just pop a bunch of non-drowsy allergy pills beforehand just in case. But unless its from a fish market I can't order shrimp from any restaurant as its not fresh enough & I ALWAYS have a reaction.
