Reading books is the most effective way to expand your vocabulary 🎉. I've been using this method for a while and it has helped me enormously 😅. Never forget to listen to the audio books as well to learn correct pronunciation 😊. I normally write down the new words I encounter together with their meanings and search how they're used in a sentence 🎉🎉. If you use these methods, you'll be catapulted to greater heights. ❤
Building your vocabulary is not always easy. Thanks for that sentence! I'm at that point where I feel like I will never move forward and will be stuck at my current level for the rest of my life. 🙈 You give me hope! I've been living in the US for 4 years, and it seems to me that I have checked and learned from all the TH-camrs. However, your method of sharing knowledge is the most suitable for me! Thanks again, and please keep up the awesome work!
As a Romance language speaker (more specifically Portuguese), I can't help but notice that some of these words have Latin roots. It's interesting and I noticed this myself when I took the TOEFL exam a while ago. In the vocabulary section, I knew some words for this reason, as they are similar to words in my language with the same meaning. Great lesson, as always. Examples of words in context are a great tool to enhance comprehension.
Awesome words. Thank you Wes. Learning a language truly needs a perseverance, it is a non-stop process, but with videos like this things become effortless and fun. I watch and rewatch them at least four times and when i want to use them; they easily come to my head. THANK YOU Wes for your hard work and perseverance.
Hi. An Algerian English major. An endless thanks to you for your precious efforts. I know moste of these vocabulary, but, I enjoyed listening to your awesome explanation for each word.
The narrative I promote is that this channel is really for those who want to become an English-learning snob! I need perseverance and making concessions to reach an advanced level. I am filled with remorse when I do not study, probably I am a workaholic! I do not have xenophobia and feel relaxed when there is a n influx of tourists in my country. People who are in exile are homesick sometimes
I was surprised, some of the them I knew already without knowing they are a C2 Level, but I also learned some new words in this video so I could widen my horizon, cheers Wes for this amazing video greetings from Germany
Min of two ppl I share every time I get your lesson to have them supercharge their Eng vocabulary & accent! They need perseverance to make it happened…
I really enjoyed watching and listening to this attractive presentation! I know most of them, but the biggest challenge is how to use them in the right context especially, while speaking 🗣️. Teacher Wes, your efforts are highly appreciated and thank you so much!
Thank you Wess , I downloaded the Elsa App but I did not find any explanation on how to use it , and I was about to uninstall it, but now I am clear! Thank you again! I really appreciate it!
Wow, so many words that I haven't known. One of American Mars Rovers is named "perseverance" and still active . Isn't it cool? I really love this word. If I persevere with building up vocabularies, I'll eventually become a vocabulary snob. Thanks, Wes.
Fun fact, Wes. The word snob was originally an acronym for "Sine Nobelitate" - in Latin - which was used in colleges in Britain, on the attendance sheets, for the names of the students that were NOT from nobility background. So it was used originally for kind of an opposite meaning, a little bit in a derogative way, to point to those that were among nobles although they are not. Kind of like imposter.
I am French language teacher and currently I study English. I have realized that if I want to speak C2 English I just have to use more french words prunounced a little bit differently :)
Thank you for preparing all those super useful words. I have noticed that the example sentence you gave for "concession", I think there is a syllable mistake. If we need to compromise, you may make a concession, I may also have to make a (concussion). It is at 10:07. Having said that your video is flawless, I beg your pardon if I am wrong.
"Happy New Year, Wes. As the 925th subscriber to your channel, I want to express my appreciation for your fantastic content. I'm excited to be a part of your journey to a million subscribers. Here's to a successful and subscriber-filled 2024!"
Thanks this is just great! As an English learner, I gotta admit sometimes it's hard to make our spoken English flexible in that we only know one certain form, normally it would be the verb form, and it could be really frustrating. Plz make more video of the alike content. ❤
You need more practice. Record yourself speaking and use new words you've just learned immediately. Try to imitate the native speakers as much as you can. Otherwise, you're at the advantage since your written English is good.
Your videos are crystal clear and very informative and it is really an honor to have such an experienced teacher for us to learn and improve our English. Just a quick question, do you happen to know something like Elsaspeaking for French and German languages? You sound well informed and that is why I dared to ask you.
I appreciate your video every time being useful/intriguing. Would you mind if I ask you to teach me? 10:07, concession/concussion you'd intended to showcase both words, I suppose. But I can't find concussion on lineup. I felt like somewhat make a concussion slightly.🥛
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for your comment. That must be a typo. Seems like it got autocorrected to 'concussion.' However, it should be 'concession.' 😃
Thanks for checking out the lesson. As far as I know, the speech analyzer is only available on your desktop. I don't think you can use it on your phone., at least not yet. 👍
