I haven’t lost my passion because I’ve lost my passion. It’s been taken away from me due to having my own business which is a barbershop, now I’m short staffed, working 60+ hours a week on my feet, and I’m not exaggerating I’m standing 10 hours a day, without lunch breaks or any break at all.
I’m 100% exhausted and by the time I get home I don’t even have the energy to play with my children let alone pursue my passions.
For now this is my predicament, customers always say “think about the money” but I would give half the money away to just sit down for a little bit and have some fuel left in the tank when I arrive home. It won’t always be like this and I will get some time back but damn I miss my passions and enjoying some free relaxing time with family.
Life always throws you challenges, never lose your passions and ultimately don’t lose yourself!

I'm 57, but back when I was 17 I was a junior in a hairdressers/barbershop. Back then I did about 9 hours per day, and then went out every night with my mates. Water off of a ducks back back then. I was sacked after 18 months, as the owner said I had a good work ethic, but that I was just no good at hairdressing/barbering....and he was quite right, I was TOTAL pants at it, with all the hairdressing skills of a cabbage. LOL!
But doing that for years, now THAT takes stamina, my hat is off to you. I'm not surprised you're KO'd after days like that, that's going to take its toll on ANYBODY. Many people, in my experience, think that hairdressing is easy....just wait until you do it for a few year's, and they'll soon think differently!

I hope you have set specific goal with timeline and soon bring things to normal!
I can only imagine how hard and awkward it is to stay for so many hours on your feet’s with those hand positions!
My work is intensive but involves lots off movement and 100 seatings between all those deliveries and whenever I have to just stand on my feet’s for 2 hours straight my lowball really start hurting!
You really need to find the way and preserve some energy for your lovely family and is there anything a a chance for some hobbies activity and enjoy a bit life!
Best wishes for the future man 🤛

For the good of your family, turn that sign around on the front door and have a quiet, peaceful lunch everyday. Grab a sandwich, take a walk, take a nap, listen to a record. You'll never get back the time you don't spend with your family and they'll never get that time back either.

I'm autistic, so therefore I don't have that much time for hobbies. I need a lot of time restoring energy and regulating with simple tasks. But I've learned a lot the past years and found out if I sleep longer and stop pushing myself to be productive all the time, then I actually get done more than if I'm exhausted all the time, lol. Simracing is so much more fun now, even though I don't do it that often anymore, it feels like my learning curve became steeper as I have more energy to focus and get the best out of me.
Being healthy is really not an option, it is a must. Everything else comes naturally, it really is so much easier to be happy if your basic needs are met.

I'm 6'2 228 lbs so a bit of extra weight and my most important part of my day is 8 hours of sleep. 6 hours, no go. I will hate my day. 7 hours? I will wish I slept 8. 8-9 hours I wake up and I'm good to go. Everyone is different. Thank you for your content Race Beyond Matter. You have some of the most nuanced content that goes beyond (no pun intended) just sim racing. Cheers.

    Hey Stelyan,
I'm 32 for now and the symptoms you had because of high carb food was exactly what I've experienced since I quit smoking in 2016. I replaced the smoking with a whole lot of junk food and soft drinks. I was aggressive in a split second because of nonsense. I also gained weight from 85kg's in 2016 to 118kg's in 2023. My luck was that I had a pretty physical job so I don't look that unhealthy and overweight. I started an allot chiller job with more free time per day and I started to look around why I tend to be that kind of aggressive. A year ago I took my spare time to go to the gym just because I wanted to get back to 90kg's. After I've noticed that training is the half of the story to lose weight. I started to search for a solution and it became clear that the amount of sugar per day (which should never exceed a max of 40g/day) was the main reason why the fat wasn't burning. Also alcohol is a factor. If you read into that then you'll find out that the liver plays a huge role in that.
Long story short, I completely changed my diet to low carb, no processed food, almost no sugar, and et voila, the weight is in freefall.
I also never was that aggressive again. So everyone, keep track of your diet and keep it healthy, this will also have a huge impact on your psychology.

Hi mate. I’ve been there. I’m 37 and a year ago I was the same. Now my wife uses organic ingredients and I go running everyday. I’ve lowered my resting heart rate loads. I’ve lost weight and I feel so much better. I ran 18 miles the other week. Because of the changes I’ve made my quality of life has improved 100 fold. I feel so much better. It was hard at the beginning but I love it now and this mentality has carried over to my sim racing. My last proper simrace was 5 years ago in 24 Hours of LeMans in Virtual Endurance Championship and when my time arrived to drive i did first lap from the pits and second lap i crashed the car and game over for the team ( i still feel sorry about that ). The lack of sleep and no energy almost all the time because of a new job , made me to quit simracing . Now i do some short racing in weekends but yes, i understand you very well and i think most of us are going in same shit in life ( from time to time ) :) . Keep pushing and ENJOY THE LIFE . P.S. Shut up about your age , we are young :)))))

Kinda going through what you described. Maybe not to the extent you explained, but similar. Wake up feeling tired, feel tired throughout the entire day. Get home from work and even though simracing is probably my favorite hobby i have next to no motivation to hop in the rig. Even just thinking of having to put on my racing shoes is sometimes enough to keep me out of the rig. Trying to sleep more now. Got used to 4-5 hours of sleep for so long. Now I'm getting 7-8. Still having trouble with the food cravings but it's coming along.

This video had a funny release timing for me. I'm 42 and haven't had energy at all, for basically 4 years. Get home from work and crash every day. Only day I feel somewhat rested is Sunday. This month I have started to exercise 3 times a week and I've cut out processed food. I had already cut out most sugar, but not 100%. I already feel better and have slept better these first few weeks. Not always motivated to go to the gym, but I just get my ass in the door even if I feel like shit. I look forward to December to compare how I felt before I started to then. Your video makes me hopeful I'm on the right track to get some excess energy back. Thanks as always mate for the great videos you make!

You can imagine where this path will lead you in few months man!
Dragging yourself to the gim even if is not easy is absolute benefit for your motivation later in the day and will help you take the right nutrition choices as you don’t want your hard work to be waste!
When you cut the processed food totally at some point things will become way better and at some point you will feel better than your twenties!
It is not easy to cut the sugar as I fight with myself every day but knowing how I will feel after consuming it, it is way high price to pay for just few minutes cheap please!

  • @Bambeakz

I guess I am in the middle of that. Thought I had a “bore-out”because my work had no challenges anymore so I left my well paying job to do whatever I wanted for 1-2 year (that was the plan and it is now almost 3 years).
But my energy level never fixed itself and I love me some sugar so that could be the reason. But thinking about a life without sugar sounds freakin scary to me tbh and I don’t feel the strength to do that right now. Started exercising again a few weeks ago and cutting back on the sugar so hopefully that will be enough.

Same here. You are what you eat and I ate junk, became junk. However, my simracing passion went away once I realized one of the best sims out there are using their players as milking cows with a hard dopamin based ranking system. I am not one to stand that, others are, but I ditched simracing because of it. Guess what, the racing passion still lives but it is a passion, not an occupation, and the other passion for flightsims took over. Maybe I'm lucky to have more than one passion...

Please don’t get me wrong my friend, my intention is not to lecture or patronize, just wanna share my take on this matter, which maybe a bit unpopular.
Let’s sum up all the things you’ve revealed about yourself:
    Shit job
    Stress
    Pressure
“The mornings were even harder because I had to repeat all this shit again”
“I built the life I want, but I was unhappy and lethargic”
    Another day in hell
    And then you say:
“For some people this work is like nightmare, but I love it.”
    See the contradiction?
If you really want to understand the actual cause and mechanism of your downfall, you should look under the hood of your emotions my friend, and not the diet and life style habits.
Sure, living a healthy and active life does good to your body and psyche.
But what was really the cause of your suffering?
Surely it wasn't the sugar and overeating, that was only a consequence, an unhealthy coping mechanism.
“I’m not afraid of loosing everything” - yet you still work the job you hate.
You’re optimizing yourself to be enslaved.
The best thing that ever happened to me was loosing the job that I hated.
A job that slowly started to devour my soul.
    Now I'm penniless, but I don't care.
I'd rather go homeless than being a slave to a company that doesn't give a rat's ass about me.
I'd be happy with that 300-500 bucks a month from doing something I love.
In some countries, you could make a decent living out of that.

I believe sugar is getting in the path of alcohol and nicotine and in the next 20-30 years things will be different when the new generation grows up and fight back!

For me the industry is still on the winning side with enough money to manipulate the politics, so nobody can stop them. Only each individual itself can fight against it. Thank you a lot for making this video, like someone else said, you are an inspiration beyond simracing!
I am only 17, however I had gone through a fair bit of anxiety in this year and it was just a very bad year. I went through those stages of being drained of dopamine and lack of motivation and desire to do anything. In April of this year it went through the roof with everything and I had constant panic attacks and I kept asking myself it is worth it to do anything anymore. (Keep in mind I am only 17, a teenager should have mood swings but not think about dumb shit like this!)
At the time I was massively burnt out because I used to do eSports in ACC, and that further drained my passion for racing and everything else. After I had gotten professional help and went through that phase I was still drained of motivation to do anything, eventually quitting eSports and trying to find a new passion.. Fast forward to the Summer of 2024 and I had some health problems due to Creatine mixed with hot weather and me not drinking enough water.. I had experienced 210/110 Blood Pressure and was rushed to the ER because of it.
Now.. that's where I really said: Okay, let's prioritize life and mental being before everything, thankfully school was finished and I was relieved of that. Further on, going to vacation it just became a mess with no happy ending, constant homesickness and anxiety for no reason, which followed me back home, occasionally having anxiety attack but finding how to cope with them.
These anxiety attacks stopped just a few days ago as I got my motivation back. I was 92kg this entire year and during summer I dropped to 87kg, which was at first a health concern because I was still anxious due to the blood pressure spike and was overthinking my health, before I researched and found out why (TL;DR, less eating, and when I ate I was subconcously eating healthier food).
This also added to regaining my motivation for many things, simracing being one of them. I now wake up with a goal of what I want to do, of course still being in puberty, sometimes sends me off that path but I try my best to get back on it :) It's pretty scary how much our mental health is important, but thankfully it isn't impossible to fix. My goal now is to focus on quitting smoking and dropping down to 75kg while maintaining working out and slowly getting back into competitive racing.
Again, thank you very much for making this video, because it helped just a bit to see that it's possible to rise from the bottom. Nobody should experience stuff like this.
Greetings from Germany, from someone who used to live in neighbouring country of Bulgaria, Serbia! :)

I’m new to your channel, and I came here after looking up “how to build a sim racing rig” on google. 🤣 And then I watched your first video on your rig, then the 2024 version and now this one. I had only expected this channel to be about sim racing, but what I got was so much more. I got what your life was like both inside and out the drivers seat. The advice you’re giving is very real and true. Everyone has these slumps in life, but you can only get out of them if you truly want to. If there is a will there is a way. Just know that no pain lasts forever. And part of what gives life meaning is hardship. And hardship is what makes us work harder towards the things we enjoy in life. The good days and experiences are the oasis of what may seem to be in a life full of suffering. But it’s like you said brother, life is truly beautiful. As long as we have a passion and will to keep living it to see all of its beauty. You have not only inspired me more for my love of racing, but my love of life as well brother. I’m glad I found your channel and I really appreciate your effort. Don’t ever give up man. May God bless you brother. Much love ❤️

Nutrition is a big big deal, but speaking as an introvert (95% MBTI), sim racing (and programming) is right up my street. However, following anxiety attacks (back in 2012), I found out (through many books/podcasts), that genuine human connection, understanding of ones mind and maybe a belief in something a little bigger (whatever you want to call it), is more important than I/we want to believe. If you're still in Germany, maybe check out a place called Yoga Vidya (Bad Meinberg) for a weekend (they do some fascinating courses). When I first went there, it felt like a, "dog on a string" kind of place - but - once I put my prejudices and judgements aside - it gave me something different and they have some fascinating speakers (I ended up going there several times). I'm not trying to get you into a cult - honest 🙂- but it's a different kind of thing that simply made me feel good. Hang in their amigo - still loving this channel.
