    I love Kempower chargers! The different voltage of those units is very confusing for users though.

    I wish Electrify America would adopt Kempower chargers in the US. They’re much more flexible and informative. You wouldn’t have to try to read the fine print when you’re pulling up to the station to figure out whether it’s 150kW or 350.

    These chargers are real neat. I like the flexible design and the voltage/amp readings. I also really like how the Hyundai/Kia twins can upscale the voltage. I wonder if Tesla will use a similar technique to pull more power from their superchargers. If they included higher voltage batteries on their newer cars and upscaled the voltage like this, they might could get 300+kW from the existing V3 supercharger.

    Quite interesting. Silly that they’re different units for 500V / 800V. Unlikely many people realize the difference.

    Felix, you are my hero! Thank you for this!
    Interesting that you get 104kW here but only 96kW at the Tesla SCV2. Do you know the voltage/current requested at supercharger?
    Assuming the OBDC is current limited at 230A it could get 115kW at 500V, or 133kW at 580V as per Tomi's comment.
    Let's petition Hyundai to request maximum voltage, not just 450VDC :)

      Also 2 more questions;
      1) have you tested it on any other >>50kW 400V chargers?
      2) is this AWD or RWD? Ive heard the RWD charges faster on 400V (rear inverter has more power)

      @@stefansmolenaers "Unfortunately" this was an AWD. Interesting that RWD could be different. Maybe have to bring an EV6 some day :>

      @@electricfelix ahh, okay. This is the project45 which apparently is the only version having issues at supercharger v3. But I'm also yet to find any info of max charging rates at V3 on non-45 models which work.
      please please get Hyundai/Kia to loan you a RWD IONIQ5 or EV6 and test max charge rate at 500V & SCv3 - for science! 😁

      I have data of many Ioniq 5/EV6 at my 500V kempower station, 230A is the limit. Voltage is always 450-455V.
      This seems to be the limit of the onboard DC-DC. Same for all, RWD, AWD, not sure for the EV GT No data for this one. SuC v2 maybe peaks at 420V?

    Does the Ionic 5 have an internal DCDC to make battery voltage ( 650 isch ) from the 450V ?

  • @abraxastulammo9940
    @abraxastulammo9940 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    300A makes no sense at all.
    Iirc Bjørn Nyland showed a location in Norway where they did not have this limit, so it is unclear why you would not opt for better specs.

      I saw these plugs on Alpitronic chargers.
      Allego, EnBw, Fastned, Ewe Go
      Use them widespread in Germany

    I have a theory why it might be asking for 450V only. I would assume the protocol doesn't tell the car what the max rating is. So the car comes and asks for the 650V it has on the battery (so-called 800V architecture 😈) and the charger says „No, that's too much“. The car concludes this is not a 800V charger, so it must be one of these 400V ones that have their max somewhere between 450V and 500V (400V chargers are meant for nominal battery voltage of 400V, so they can go somewhat higher) and the 450V is the next guess at what voltage to try.

    Welke Ionoq heb je?
    En wat is een werkelijke range?

    • @electricfelix

      Hugo (twitter.com/hugobosnl) heeft de Project 45, de range is genoeg om tussen 07:00 en 23:30 van Amsterdam naar Andorra te rijden. Heeft meer met het snelle laden te maken, als je EV gaat rijden zul je gauw beseffen dat range tussen de oren zit!

      @@peterscheffer4521 ja hangt ontzettend af van je rijgedrag en seizoen. als je Hugo op twitter volgt (of mij) delen we vaak het verbruik onderweg, dat kan bij 130 zo oplopen tot 250Wh/km (model baksteen heeft een prijs).
