    I have beat the hell out of my Lynx for two seasons now. I have no hull protection and fish a very shallow river that has fresh water clam shells and rocks not one bad scratch or puncture. I drag it all over the place. Yes there is rash but nothing critical. I think these get a bad rap for being fragile it has not been the case for me. Nice upgrades!

      Thanks A.J. That is good to hear that the hull holds up to clam shells. I have damaged some of my past roto-molded kayaks running over oyster beds. It is probably overkill on my lynx, but I just haven't heard much feedback how the lynx holds up to abuse from oysters. Your feedback helps, thanks again.

    I had a Hobie PA 14' and a Solo Skiff and now the Hobie Lynx and I agree I love my Lynx because everything is easier to handle and it maneuver s better and I feel like handles rougher conditions because the water instantly rolls off

    Would you mind going into a little more detail in the rail with the ABS baseplate? Maybe make a follow up video showing it on and off the kayak?

    Great build! I have the same lynx, you really do need all that protection on the hull. The Asa is super fragile. What type of motor do you use and where do you mount it. i use a super light water snake motor. 18 lb, thrust it only weighs 4 lbs. I run it on a 20 ah lithium through a PWM lasts 8+ hours. i have mounts for the motor bow or stern. Thanks for sharing!!!!

      I have the Bixpy which drops into the pedal drive opening. I had to use a file to shave off a few millimeters to make to fit easily, but it works. The bixpy is loud but it helps get me a few miles in a hurry without peddling. You can't use it like you would a trolling motor because of it's loudness but it is still a great way to cover a lot of water.

      @@SuperFatloser I waiting on my replacement hull from hobie, my lynx cracked in the scupper holes. It’s been a long drawn out fight
      To get them to cover this and i lost 1/2 the fishing season. But i am getting a replacement. Anyway, I’m using an 18 lb. Thrust water snake trolling motor with a 20 AH lithium battery. I made a PWM for speed & fwd/rev, mounted on the back just off to one side so you can still use the rudder if you want. You can also steer with the motor. I’ll have to send you a picture once i get the new hull. This system works great with the Lynx. Top speed is only 3.5mph though.
      The thing I like the best is how slow and quiet you can go. great for working shoreline structures

    With tax, a Lynx is now over $3500 and you spent how much trying to protect the fragile hull. As much as I wanted a Lynx, I am going to wait until Hobie addresses the hull issue, maybe a Lynx2 in a couple of years

    Awesome ideas! So after your home made keep on the bow when in the water lighten the haul slap? Thinking about getting one

    Thanks. Most helpful video. A couple questions please: 1) would you give us the URL for the black keel guards? I couldn't find anything as you described it. 2) How did you cut the marine mat (and URL) so that fits so well. Thanks in advance for your help.

    What pole did you happen to stick in the sail pole mount area? I’m thinking of doing something similar for a camera mount but can’t figure out what will fit

    Great Video & Great Ideas! Are you having any "Drag Issues" since you placed the protection on the hull? How do you store the Lynx?

    • @SuperFatloser
      @SuperFatloser ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry for the delay responding. I don't think there is a drag issues. Maybe the extra pound or so from the weight of the keel guard does, in theory, slow me down, but it is nothing noticeable. I have more peace of mind with the keel guard on than the possible miniscule drag it may have. Thanks

    Skin is very fragile. The protection is a good idea to prevent any punctures. With that said it is foam inside so you won't have any issues if you do get a puncture (won't sink).

    Do you think the deck padding would work under the bow for dampening the sound?

    @laser7715 Did you find the foam on the front to help dampen the hull water slap noise?

    • @johnrugani2382
      @johnrugani2382 ปีที่แล้ว

      Do you think the decking material could be used under the bow for dampening.

    • @SuperFatloser
      @SuperFatloser ปีที่แล้ว

      @@johnrugani2382 The decking material would work, but it is a monster to remove. I have seen videos of people using scrappers to get that stuff off. This cheap foam sticks to the kayak well and is fairly simple to remove.

    • @SuperFatloser
      @SuperFatloser ปีที่แล้ว

      I finally got it on the water to test the foam. It works great. I need to take it back a few more inches though to hit the water line. Also, I need to tape over all the foam so it won't get damaged easily.

    Id get a compass. Lynx is too soft

    • @SuperFatloser
      @SuperFatloser ปีที่แล้ว +7

      I don't know what you mean by soft, the Lynx seems to me to be very rigid. Also, it light and very stable. I'm 63 years old and the only thing which matters to me is getting on and off the water comfortably and being able to stand while I am fishing. If I have to sit for five or six hours, my butt is hurtin'.
