- The plaintiff says he bought a car from the defendant, but his mechanic told him the next day that it was a dud that would never pass inspection. He’s suing for his money back. The defendant says the plaintiff offered more money because there was another interested buyer, but a week later he changed his mind and dumped the car back on the defendant’s property.
case 29-280
Doug never fails to savagely rub salt in the wounds of the loser, and sometimes the winner, too. ✊🏼
And he does it with such finesse.
Every time he spoke highly of the car his voice got lower and lower and the judge “why do you keep mentioning that?” Killed me
I've never heard a car more spoken highly of in my life. Subliminally now I want to buy this car I've never seen lol.
spoke highly? He IS high, hahaha
He wasn't going to be convinced he won until he got out of there, so he was advertising it in case the line of potential buyers were watching.
😂
I love watching people "sort, organize" their papers while they are being introduced. I guess its a little nerve wracking just standing there and NOT doing something.........
😂😂
You're silly! 😂😂

Lol
This comment made me laugh 😂

Yes and rent/roommates lol

You need to copy right your post quickly.
Just after the plaintiff said he didn't test drive it, I already knew he's going to lose the case
Until I started watching court shows, I had *NO* idea that so many people were out here buying cars without test driving them! 😳 That just seems so bizarre to me.
Doug told his ass that the car was waiting for him.
IM DEAD
Thanks for the new upload!
Right cause it been like 2 days I was worried lol
I love it when someone has a car inspected by a mechanic AFTER they purchased it. Idiots.
I bet it's a really good car. At least the guy said it 99 times lol
Is the defendant awake? Present? My God like pulling teeth getting him to speak. 😒
I think he smoked something just before. 🚬

When you're too cheap or lazy to get the car looked at first before buying it. Then You deserve what you get.
The issue is that he could have gotten it looked at afterwards with the proper inspection and still gotten his money back but he didnt cause hes lazy
'As Is' laws work much differently in MA than in other states, so the usual 'you bought it AS IS' doesn't apply here. The only reason he lost is that he did not bother to actually go through with an inspection to prove it failed. If he had paperwork PROVING that instead of him just showing that, this would have turned out differently.
Under the Lemon Aid Law, not only would he have had to take the car for inspection within 7 days, he would have to have documentation that it failed said inspection AND an estimate showing that the cost to repair the car in a manner that would allow it to pass inspection was MORE than 10% of the purchase price of the car (NO court is in the business of rewarding those who took sucker deals when they should have known better.)
This is why we actually have law schools and not a public policy of, "Come be a lawyer based on things you heard on television!"
The judge made that extremely clear.
The plaintiff trying to be a cheap sugar daddy and it came back to bite him
Ppl should stop wasting time coming to court when they buy a car as is. Never goes their way unless it's a title issue. Take it as a loss.
the female employee probably didnt give him what he wanted for buying her a car - if u catch my drift - so he tried to get his money back for the car .

She really needs to let them talk instead of constantly interrupting them and talking for them and over them. She already reviewed the case beforehand and made up her mind rather than actually LISTENING to both the defendant and plaintiff. Judge thinks she knows more about their situation than them, but she’s mistaken. She knows the law, yes, but not what happened between the defendant and plaintiff and how the law should be used in their case. So she should listen to their case and judge how the law (in their state) will be applied to their situation. Unfortunately, she’s too busy being disruptive and interrupting the plaintiff and defendant. Even tho I agree w the verdict, the judge needs to let them speak and make their case as well as defend themselves against a lawsuit. But she talks more than the two plaintiff and defendant combined.
She talks over people all the time. The most annoying thing about her.
We’ve reached a point socially where people in positions of power are expected to treat the people they oversee or service in a respectful manner. Gone are the days where it’s acceptable for a teacher to strike a misbehaving student or a doctor to have poor bedside manner. This seems to be in conflict with court TV shows that began decades ago when it was exciting to see judges rip into litigants.
What bugs me is when she asks a question and the person tries to answer, but she interrupts and tells them to answer or asks a different question.
I agree
I believe it’s mostly because they go off subject into long unrelated stories, she tries to keep them on track.
I always watch these videos late at night until I fall asleep 😴

There are about eight cases on this show and you can call the judge's verdict usually in the first minute and be shocked if you're wrong.
And she still skillfully drags them out for 10 minutes to make a show :)

The plaintiff is lucky that the defendant didn't hit him for storage fees, I probably would have.
defendant did not have an agreement to impose storage fees. he could have just called police to say someone left their car on his property. then city would charge plaintiff tow and storage fees.
@@osomartinez Saying "someone left their car here" would be pretty dumb since the cops are going to run the VIN and it'll show that it belongs to him. Even tho they didn't have a storage agreement, he might have been able to get it. State laws and circumstances of the abandonment would dictate.
I'm a huge fan of Marilyn Milian.... and the People's Court. :) As many times as I've seen car cases... my current car - I bought w/o taking it to a mechanic. It's an older car, one I had before - not same car - same model - so I had an idea of how it should be when test driving it and what not. It worked out in my case, but I think if I were buying any other car - I would def. have it checked out first.
Another case of someone going to see a mechanic after an AS-IS purchase... Will they ever learn?!?! LOL
Does this defendant have any mental capacity to answer the Judges questions instead of babble like a fool? Easy case Judge, well done.
the only thing missing with the defendant are the bloodshot eyes. hahaha, I love weed too, dude. It's cool with this watcher!

Is the defendant's last name Gump? He has that vibe.
I think the defendant knew exactly what was going on...He had an all-knowing look om his face.
It was never mentioned what exactly was wrong with the car? He just said his mechanic said it was no good.

I’ve bought a couple used cars before, thank God I they’ve always worked out
She constantly interrupts litigants on her show and I never understood why.
Because judges know the law and want facts that will help in deciding a case. They don’t want your life story and people just talking endlessly about things that don’t help decide the case.
@@stefanossmitty3318 That, and it's for TV.
if they go off on a rant she steers the convo back in the right direction, the show is timed lol
@@stefanossmitty3318 she often doesn’t ask straightforward questions. She’ll say, “Tell me what happened,” or “Then what did you do?” And before a litigant gets out half a sentence of a response, she’ll interrupt. It’s not that she knows the law and doesn’t want people talking endlessly. It’s that she asks questions just because she likes to (to use her own phrase) flap her gums and then realizes there are more appropriate questions to ask. Heck, she’ll often interrupt herself mid-sentence to shout, “No, no, no! Never mind! You know what we’re gonna do?” It’s frustrating to watch as a viewer, so I can only imagine how frustrating it is when you’re standing right in front of her as she’s screaming.

The defendant = If "The lights are on but no one's home" was a person....0_o

Wow I didn't even make it 30 seconds in before I knew the decision of this case. Why are people so stupid? You don't bring the car you bought to a mechanic after you bought it to check it out. You bring the mechanic to the car before you buy it. Car sales are as is sales unless otherwise specified. The plaintiff should absolutely lose this case. Let's see how it unfolds.
Funny sneaky people like the defendant think they got it all figured out. Life is a boomerang.
Is the defendant high??? And, how many of these as is car sales cases have to be aired before people wise ?
why didnt he get it looked at beforehand?
The defendant has the energy of a wet sock.
A Grand Prix that tilts when you hit the gas has some motor mount issues not that it’s engine is so powerful lol
Why does the audience always look like they are bored out of their minds.... Lol all stoic. I would be screaming lol and be thrown in jail for lack of self control.
Plaintiff was trying to be a low budget sugar daddy and now is out 900 dollars and possibly an "employee" if she doesn't have transportation to get to work. Maybe he will let her use his personal car instead.
Omg. Why don’t people understand that buying a used car is AS IS?!?!?! There ARE NOT lemon laws for used cars. Take it to a mechanic BEFORE you buy it!!!!
Was the plaintiff on the show before? He looks (and sounds) exactly like the guy who was on for another used car deal gone wrong. It was the episode where the plaintiff was buying a vehicle (I think it was a minivan) and he said he didn’t notice the bazillion air fresheners (apparently masking the odour of cat pee) and some cosmetic damages.
I hate when people can’t answer direct questions
Watch the show....Don't buy a car for a coworker, always have a mechanic check it BEFORE BUYING IT
Why can’t the defendant give a straight answer when asked a question? Weird
People know they just don't care.
