This year was also the year that Dust: An Elysian Tail came out on the Summer of Arcade. I'm disappointed that The Yahtz didn't touch upon it, because it has a lot of those ticks from the list around 3:05.

Came to watch this review after learning about Rime, and its developer being Tequila Works who did deadlight.
At first I was intrigued by the fact that it looked like a combination of Ico/Journey/Zelda Wind Waker/Anything with a shadow enemy.
Then I heard Yahtzee comparing Deadlight as a mix between Limbo/Shadow Complex/Bastion/Splosion Man/I am Alive/Anything with zombies in it.
And now any sort of hype I've had for Rime has now been evaporated, thanks Yahtzee
So very funny. I chuckled a bit at the funny parts! :D
When I first saw the title, I thought he was going to tear one of my favourite games, 'Recettear' a new one. Glad that didn't happen because I can't stand to have someone with a different opinion than me tell me he has a different opinion.
...I liked Deadlight.
So Wreckateer is even more like Crush the Castle than Angry Birds?
I think the bongos part had me laughing for 5 minutes straight.

3:52 I enjoyed the game up until that point, because then it started doing that thing Limbo did where you can't possibly get past an obstacle until you've died a few times on it.

I played Deadlight before watching this video and never before has a game pissed me off to the extent that Deadlight did. The voice acting sucks, the protagonist is unlikeable, gameplay is frustrating, and the story (and pacing) is short, unsatisfying, poorly written. That game is bad. Play it only to laugh at how bad it is
I wish I'd seen this before I spent money on Deadlight. For Tl:DWatch, the game sucks ass.

I totally agree with Yahtzee RE the ending of Deadlight. IGN said that the game had a "twist you'll never see coming" which intrigued me greatly. I played the demo and liked it so I bought it and very much enjoyed the game, but to say that you never see the twist coming makes me think that the IGN review hasn't seen a psychological thriller in the last decade and/or had his eyes and ears closed throughout all the hallucination sequences in the game.
That is no excuse. He had the chance to defame possible competition, but he didn't do so. I mean, there were already people claiming that Terraria was a Minecraft copy. If the creator of Minecraft says that Terraria is not copying Minecraft, I think that says something. And AGAIN, the only similarities between Terraria and Minecraft are building blocks and crafting, which MANY games have the latter.
Care to defend that point again?
Yes, they are flash games, but they are far from generic.
Shank was a brilliant game. Is it bad that Mark of the Ninja is a supposed "reskin?"
Really? I will assume you are saying Terraria is a copy of Minecraft, and if that is so, I will have to take you outside! But really, Markus "Notch" Persson even said that Terraria is not a copy of Minecraft if I recall correctly. I'll find that tweet now.
And name all of the games that Terraria is a "copy" of. And again, it is still a great game.
Really? Awesomenauts is a pretty original Moba game. I never said that those were all original, that was a separate note. Name one of those that is a reskin or just a "generic flash game." None of them are "generic." Minecraft is a bit of a copy of Infiniminer. Again, name one that is a "reskin" or "generic flash game" before you start to be a smartarse. And don't even try to claim that Terraria is a copy of Minecraft, the only similar thing is building elements.
And all of them are fun.
I've not played Limbo, and the sarcasm is thick enough to cut with a fork. Braid is actually fun if you can get past the pretentious bullshit, which is actually pretty hard to do.
But then there is Terraria, Bastion, Minecraft, Mark of the Ninja, Awesomenauts, Jamestown, Magicka, Super Meat Boy, the Binding of Isaac, and correct me if I am wrong, but those are all indie. And that is barely scratching the surface.
Indie games also tend to be more original.

I did not take history as a subject and I did pay attention when I was taught it.
I am not english I am welsh. and no the americans do several things right like the right to bare arms but the way they write the date is wrong. who dose something in the wrong order. it should be small/medium/large not medium/small/large.
Your father owned a shop, and you have to pay back a certain amount of his debt to a fairy every month by buying items at low cost, selling them at high cost, and doing some dungeon exploring with various other characters to find items for free to sell in your shop. Basically, it's a shop management game. And just playing the demo, I didn't think it was a very good game at that.
*ehem* Although the plot may be hard to follow from time-to-time, and the character seems just as lost as you are, his adventures and modern day language in an otherwise mid evil setting had me rolling on the floor in LAUGHTER. I suppose if you don't like comedy, or laughing, or being human, it's not the book for you.

no the accents are fine. the way americans write their date and they way they butchered the english language and call it their own is what I do not like. I know nothing of australia therefore can not complain. and respect has to be earned and so far only irac and afganistan have earned that.
he probably gets paid more by the Escapest then he would get, also alot of people like me watch the videos when they first come out on the website, then only use the youtube to rewatch older ones... so it would not really be worth it for him

Actually, I would not call the Escapist content garbage. "The Big Picture" is pretty great, "Reel Physics" is kinda nice, for example.
Though I do think that "No Right Answer" is a horrible, horrible show.

It's a very good book, very very funny. Also, I got the kindle edition, but you can get paperback off amazon.

Jonathan Creek is a fictional tv detective/private investigator who is indeed played by Alan Davies =)
He's American. they do it differently to other place ( like 9/11 is actual l 11/9 for other places)

Alright. Alright. I got it. I got it five comments ago. I made an error.
If no one ever admitted to having seen Randy's family, that could mean anything, if he occasionally hallucinates them, that could just mean that he misses them, and the I.D. cards with the names of famous killers could have just meant that they're dead. Those 3 things don't automatically mean that he killed them. They certainly suggest that he did, sure.

If this game were meant to be like real life, then yes, you are absolutely right. However, this is a game. And it is meant to tell a story. And stories often employ literate devices. Devices such as foreshadowing. In fact, it is generally considered good writing if there's a little foreshadowing in there. But that is about as blatant as foreshadowing gets, short of him having a bad dream in which he kills his family. So yeah, gotta say its pretty obvious.
