Does this confirm that something I've been doing for years in Madden isn't actually a glitch???
😂😂😂😂
Nah. If it’s Madden, then it’s gotta be a glitch/bug/poorly programmed part of the game.
I usually did it by turning off "offsides" so they literally couldn't cross the line LMAO
I always did the same. Also on the PAT I also straight up tackle the kicker, you injure them maybe 20% of the time. yeah you get a penalty, but it's on the kickoff so it doesn't really matter.
@@1-Wheel-Drive Buy that's where my man-cave is. 🤣🤣🤣
@@devildog757same, it’s where all the cold beer 🍺 is
This is pure genius. The NFL will probably make it illegal.
Excellent observation. That's precisely what's going to happen. Anytime defense or special teams have an advantage, it's quickly nullified in the ADHD universe.
100%. I already placed a bet in Vegas it would
It should be and probably will be.
@@axe2grind244 It shouldn't. Would you ban the jet sweep? But I bet you they do. They always live up to their initials, "No Fun League". ✌
nah. it's too easily countered. just vary the snap count. the run up has to be perfectly timed with the snap for this to work. It would be so easy to get an offsides call and a first down when the runner can't easily stop his forward momentum. also blockers will be ready to pick the runner up now that they know what to look for.
And then Mac promptly throws a pick. Man this team is frustrating. If the offense would stop waiting to exist until the final 10 minutes that would be great.
I agree but that offensive line has got to give him some time to throw the man's been running for his life
Spoiled by two decades and six asterisks are we?😂😂
@@snaffu1all six?
@@snaffu1 lmao I'm certainly not a Pats fan, but you've got to be a special kind of delusional to convince yourself that all 6 of Brady's championships with the pats have an asterisk next to it. straight up
Bruh is in denial 😂
Time for the NFL to make another kicking rule.
There's an easy counter: delay the snap.
This is why we can't have nice things
I thought that was an illegal formation.
@@kevinerbs2778I do t think there are any formation rules for defense. It is still technically defense as opposed to a kickoff. The offense can still run any play.
But they won’t make double cheek push illegal
NFL shouldn't ban this. 1. It makes football more exciting with more blocked FG's, rather than them being that most sure thing ever. 2. There's an easy counter, just have a man on the runner to block him.
They don't need to ban it. Teams will just start delaying the snap.
NFL SHOULDN'T ban it, so they probably will. They hate anything that helps the defense.
NFL needs to eliminate so many rules. Open the game up. Make it more exciting. It's such a predictable affair now it's not enjoyable in the slightest.
Absolutely, NFL should not ban, teams will adapt and so will defenses and the kicks will forever be more exciting with multiple guys running before the kick and the kicking team being forced to set up quicker and concentrate hard so that they can delay the snap.
All you have to do is notice him running up and not let him time the snap. Then he's just a normal guy on the edge.
This is something that only worked because the older is the Patriots former punter and holder. They knew his tell in order to time the snap.
“An innovative play that favors the defense? Can’t have that!”
-the NFL competition committee when this is banned faster than the speed of light next offseason
Yeah because they don't want defense making plays. They want higher scoring games where the offense pops off and scores points. Makes more excitement, more viewership. Could argue defensive plays are very exciting but when you consider how many Americans watch football and don't understand it, it makes a lot more sense that any random person could watch a game, and see the team scoring "lots of point" or a guy running down the field and can get excited a lot more easily than watching a calculated, well thought-out defensive play that literally just shuts down a scoring opportunity. It's sad but it's true.
I did this all the time in NCAAF, it just never worked
Gotta be faster !!
Bruh like twenty years ago I think Madden 03 you could turn off offsides penalties this meant that there was just a forcefield at the line of scrimmage that defender's couldn't cross I would sprint towards the line of scrimmage and the player would sprint in place until the ball was snapped and he would take off full speed and block the kick
@@TheKevinJames1I think it was even in madden 07 cause that was my first madden and I’d do it all the time. Easiest sacks ever
I played NCAAF back in the early 2000's. The trick in those games was to pick the defensive end, move just a hair over (away from center) then when the ball is snapped just run directly straight for a couple steps then turn toward the quarterback. For some reason the offensive tackle wouldn't turn his body or back up if u did that, but they would adjust to you if you moved very far off center or ran a direct straight line toward the qb. It seemed like it was just poorly programmed AI. Also, this was early 2000's so who knows if that still works in the modern games. I used to get like 7-10 sacks a game with that trick.
@@TheKevinJames1Ah good memories. I had NCAA 2003 and you could disable penalties too and I'd be just standing directly behind the QB or kicker on every play. They never stood a chance.
Been doing this in madden for the longest… it never works lmao 💀😂
There is one trick in Super TECMO Bowl that worked! 😉
I think madden just doesn’t work.
Ty Law in Madden 04. It worked maybe 5 or 6 times. But it only needed to work once. Game saving block in the championship of an all-night tournament/rager of a party lol
Finally the patriots did something exciting😅
Only to be negated by a turnover
Yeah all those Super Bowls are really casting a pall on everything
oh yea, cuz from 2000-2019 we weren’t doing anything exciting dipshit, we didn’t just go to the playoffs nearly 20 times in 20 years, we didn’t just win 6 rings lol your dumb af bro, show ur a patriots hater without saying it lol

Coach McDaniel: "Next week no field goals only TDs."
For people saying offsides could happen, you do it on 4th and longer than 5, the guy is running sideways being careful not to go offside. He was timing the tell from the holder to jump the snap on this one but he did another one later where he waited and didnt go offside and the FG was missed
Even on longer than 5 you’re giving a shorter kick position with the penalty.
As long as the kicking team doesn’t allow the play clock to make the snap predictable they can throw off their timing.
Maybe use it on short distance kicks.
Yeah the key to this working is timing it correctly. I don't think you're going to see this play happen much, but what it is going to do is change how special teams snap the ball. They can't do the same rhythm and tells every time.
beautifully executed play
That is one of the best special teams plays I’ve ever seen
💯
Is it just me, or is it kinda shocking that, with all the innovations in the game over the years, this is just now coming out. Once you see it, it’s just such an obvious idea. Why’d it take so long to get into a game? So interesting how the mind works…
my thoughts izzackly 👍
lol! This is not a new technique!
Cause you still need to block the kick
Because if you see them running you just delay the snap so they lose their momentum by having to stop
@@uhohhotdoghe's coming from the holders back. The holder doesn't see him.
Is anyone else surprised that Belichick found another rule to finesse?
Nah he makes football so fun 😂
It wasn't a rule just poor play by Miami
The patriots always come up with some of the best plays and then a few weeks into the season other teams start doing the same. Props for the coaching staff for being creative with these plays
This might seem like an impossible to counter play. But it isn't, it's fairly easy. Number 1, it only has a chance of working if the Offense is in silent count. Number 2, the holders will be aware and just not signal to snap the ball if they see motion.
Beautiful play. You can tell the guy gets his running start once the holder looks at the kicker and makes his break when the holder looks back at the snapper
Easy to counter by delaying the snap and the defender runs offsides
Also, not what happened in the video. The holder's head doesn't move for the entire video.
@@J_Zeee are you blind? The holder looks at the kicker then looks back at the snapper to let him know he can snap the ball
@@ObiWanKenobi you're still wrong. I'm not blind. I didn't watch the first 4 seconds carefully enough, so I was also wrong. I watched the first 4 seconds carefully this time and it appears the gunner gets his running start when the holder looks at the snapper not when he looks at the kicker. The gunner then watches for the ball to snap before crossing into the back field. I agree with you that you can't really do much of anything to stop this play though.
Considering this increases the likelihood of offsides, defenses will have to decide if they want to do this on extra points and risk putting the opponent on the 1 yard line for a 2pt conversion... or if they want to do this on field goals and risk giving them a new set of downs.
All I know is the Eagles won't fall victim to it on their extra point attempts because of their near unstoppable brotherly shove.
That would be the easiest first down to get...a hard count would get that guy most of the time
You can tell by how he was running he was looking at the ball
@olorin1088 Oh yeah, easily could've stopped himself from a full sprint and not gone offsides. Plus the Dolphins definitely wouldn't know he's coming after that.
The holder and kicker should both be only focusing on holding and kicking the ball, not anything the defense is doing. Anything more would distract them from their job
@@Shiny101 Exactly, he should have no problem stopping himself. The problem, however, is that he telegraphs his movement.
@Shiny101 but the holder is initiating the snap and 41 is looking at the ball. The long snapper is looking at the holder. So neither can delay the snap until 41 is offsides because they aren't looking at him
wow a guy blocked a punt. That's revolutionary.
It seems easy to counter, just make the team aware that you might delay the signal if you see a moving defender. I guess it could disrupt the mechanical rhythm that the team has honed in practice, but it is something that can be practiced. QBs do this too, does it cause offensive offsides? yes, does it require more concentration?, yes.
Yep center just waits another second
The holder used to be the Patriots' punter/holder, so they knew the his mannerisms and knew how to perfectly time the run up. This was a one off situation. They just knew that this particular holder would be vulnerable to this trick and could get his timing down.
That guy was vibing, it’s not gonna be the same
This was done when Schooler was at UT.
Bring a guy in from each side, or bring two from one side and then you have to figure out an entire new blocking scheme because you don't know who is actually coming. Also would be easy for the kicking team to catch the defense offsides on this.
Trying to draw an offsides is also a great way to get a false start and make your field goal attempt longer.
This would only work to the backside of the placeholder
You'd be opening yourself up to easy fake field goals with guys' momentum crashing in the middle leaving the edge wide open. This play was a one off thing, not a sustainable regular play.
😂 how does that end just stand there 🤣
if you look at him 0:28 you see that he has his eye on the dude with the number 23. Only in the last second he can see him coming.
Cool play but shouldn't be that hard to defend if you don't time the snap predictably or that edge blocker kicks out a little bit like an offensive tackle would. Also, I wonder if the kicking team saw this coming could they exploit it with some kind of fake FG?
No need to change blocking. The holder needs to vary the snap timing and not give a key like he does every play. NFL teams usually never have consistent snap tells for this reason, but for some reason this holder does.
Not repeatable in the NFL
Yeah, a counter to this would be a fake FG. Even if the defensive is faking the blitz, it should be hard for that DB to recover towards the flat or deep third.
They just did this to them! Easily exploitable
Why haven't they thought of this before? Literally starting at a velocity higher than 0 makes the most sense to reach a target distance. It's almost like it's a bunch of uneducated men battling over a vulcanized rubber ball sweating in armor...
do you realize how impeccable the timing has to be for this to work?
I don't think this is something that needs to be banned as there's still a great chance of going offsides since its a risk vs reward type of thing.
How is something that was in the earliest Madden games just making it to the NFL now? 😅
Lol, that is tight, counter looks like a split out on offense, ok run in here if you want.
The title man at it again 😂
Not hard to stop, just gotta have a man there ready for him.
Teams will just make a way to indicate when the Defensive runner has already past the edge, or stopped at the edge. No big deal
John Harbaugh has entered the chat 😂😂
He is the reason you can't do multiple penalties to manipulate the clock anymore.
Seems like a super easy way for the kicking team to get an easy off sides call by faking that guy out.
I forsee a rule change. Belichick is a football genius.
0:19 "bow"
Its a lot harder to copy this because its ultimately so much more complicated with so many variables like timing, speed and the kicking team being hard walls to go through.
What in the Canadian football did I just see??
that was insane
That timing and speed is insane
How has this not been tried before?
Yeah I had the same reaction
Most of us probably didn't even realize it was an option
Coaches arent that original, they stick to the same old same old all the time
Americans sports folk are impossibly close minded and ritualistic.
And just like that. Dallas burned NE with a fake extra point.
I mean that was some Polamalu level timing the snap. Element of surprise of that play is kind of gone now
It looks good here here. But all you need is a hard count and it becomes very counterproductive. Offsides and first downs all over the place.
How do you do a hard count on defense though? The guy holding the ball is normally the punter, he's not the guy you want when you have a hard snap, he only practices how to punt and how to hold, literally nothing else lol
@@dsjsiThe punter wouldn’t have the ball, the center just wouldn’t hike it. A hard count is when the count is faked.
@@NateLevinthe holder is the one who calls for the snap. The holder is the punter. If the holder calls for the snap but the center doesn’t snap and the rest of the team reacts it’s a false start. For your punter to be trying to hard count is an insane thing to even practice.
Holders don’t even say anything to snap the ball in FG. They simply just look at the snapper and he snaps it whenever he’s ready so I don’t see how a hard count would work
Just have the center hold it until the defender runs offside, it's not like he can stop his momentum from full sprint@@ObiWanKenobi
Just like how philly got the philly special from us
Probably one of the best blocked FGs ever seen.
And just like the eagle push, it doesn’t work for everybody
People are saying the NFL is gonna implement a rule, but this is so easy to counter. It’s not hard at all to fake a count of hold onto the ball for a few seconds longer
All about that timing when it came to that
People call the lottery the stupid tax, but I think the NFL is solid competition.
I'm actually surprised this hasn't caught on long ago. I highly doubt it will last especially if every team starts to do it.
It hasn't caught on because it hardly ever works, and when it doesn't work, it stands a high chance of gifting the offense a "5 yards and replay the down" offside penalty.
This is one of the best moves ive seen in quite a while
It's just the element of surprise. Now the O-line will adjust if they see someone lining up way outside
You can counter this by not snapping causing an offsides or bait a roughing the kicker penalty by icing your own kicker.
Now do that from both sides!
I mean easiest way to counter this is to not snap the ball and draw him offsides it’s a risky run if the offense sees it coming.
And amazingly the next week, the Dolphins didn’t kick a field goal but instead put up 70 points!
Say what you want about belichick but he’s a football genius
Made it look so easy that I'm wondering why no one ever tried it before.
A car can stop at a bus stop, but there are a few things to keep in mind. First, the car must be able to fit within the space designated for buses. Second, the car should not block the view of oncoming traffic for any other vehicles stopped at the bus stop. Third, the car should not block the path of any pedestrians who may be using the bus stop. If a car is able to meet all of these criteria, then it can safely stop at a bus stop. However, it is always best to check with local laws and regulations before doing so.

The Cowboys burned New England on this play the following week with a fake kick. It's a cute play, until the kicking team rolls out the tight end in the same direction as the defender is coming from. The Cowboys did it on a fake PAT, the tight end was wide open, they hit him with a pass and he jogged in from the 20 with a 2-point conversion.
Next they'll be launching themselves over the line of scrimmage off players backs. Can't wait.
It will never work again. This is will be defended
I haven't seen anyone else using this; I was waiting for it
Just another patriots strategic play that will soon be deemed illegal.
Love seeing those old Patriots uniforms.
Patriot's defender number 27 - watch how he was the scoop man anticipating where the block should have landed
We've all been doing this since Madden '95 on Sega Genesis.
havent seen it done since. Great take.
Kicking teams just can’t wait until the play clock forces them to have a predictable snap.
That’s the only way a player can time that maneuver.
From now on, special teams need to have freeze call.
I don’t know how nobody’s ever thought of that before
This is straight out of madden😂
one of those things that's so obvious you can't believe no one thought of it sooner
McAfee and Isaac Punts about to be all over this until the No Fun League makes a rule saying the defense needs to be static if they're on the line
Bill still innovating
It's a niche play, he could very easily misstime it and get an offside and gift the team a first down or if it isnt under 5 yards to the first, put the other team in a position to go for it.
This will be used until there's a crucial offsides penalty
And once again bill the wizard bellichick teaches us another loop hope he’s found on the NFL rule book.
Amazing 😂
It’s gonna be an offsides/onsides arms race.
I said earlier in the day "prob will never see it but I always wish one of the guys covering the gunner on a punt would just run in and block the punt"
This is not the same but about as close as you can get
If you weren’t already doing this in NCAA or Madden YEARS ago, you were doing it wrong!
All the kicking team has to do is delay the snap. Easy offsides penalty and possibly a first down.
It was broken down by Pat McAfee. Evidently, the holder lowers his head before the snap, as if taking a deep breath. That is when he starts running.
Center watches the play and this is over
Mid season rule change in 3...
Always wondered why people teams didnt do this
Thought they weren't allowed to get a running start because of "safety" reasons.
We were doing this in madden for years. Why only now is the nfl picking up on it.
The Jose Alvarado special.
Been doing this on ESPN 2K for years, because the defender doesn’t move.
Leave it to Belichick to devalue our understanding of special teams procedures.
Just have the holder watch the defense and call the snap.
*yall see a great play by the rusher i just see a dumb zero effort by the blocker who wasn't even lookin at him*
mostly just a bad play by 94 than anything
If the Dolphis can have motion before the snap with their wide outs its only fair game
That’s brilliant
C'mon if you understand Football this is an easy fix- you have a spotter on each end that signals a hold to the snap count once he sees the motion player- The player in motion now has to stop his momentum.
All the holder has to do is delay the snap and he’s either off sides or can’t go..
