Matt said on Discord that this song has nothing to do with the song Easier from Life Is But A Dream, and also that this song was just Matt messing around with melodies and song structures.
Which is why it sounds the way it sounds.

People are absolutely batshit crazy hating on this stuff in the manner they do. Its fine to have your opinion about the song itself, but come on. The band isn't dead just because their sound changed or because Jimmy died. On the subject of Jimmy, he died 13 years ago. Time to move on from that. As for the sound of the band currently, they've brought forth new experimental ideas and creativity to their music, rather than sticking to the same formula they'd been milking for so long that it was time for them to expand on that. If you don't like it then that's fine but to be that upset is a little silly. I'm not gonna cry over a record. Bands change and you either like it or you don't, and that's fine but to spread hate over it is crossing the line.
I disagree that they were using the same formula for years because every album song drastically different but it still sound like a7x

Agreed. At first I didn’t like LIBAD but after a few months and relistening to it it’s a masterpiece. We’ve just got to open our minds a bit
A7X changing their sound is nothing new, they've done it literally every album they've ever made, LIBAD is by far the most different yes, but I see so many people acting like they've never done it before, I mean, listen to Nighmare, Hail to The King, and the stage albums and tell me how different they sound to each other, even the ones before that each one had a distinct sound different from the last

I just meant that a lot of people act as if this one being the most experimental out of the entire discography, isn't necessarily a bad thing but if someone chooses to dislike it then that's fine. I'm just sick of the drama about it. Like it of you like it, don't like it if you don't, it's not thw end of the world.

Nah this one sounds better. I love how raw it sounds. The only two good song in the new album is Cosmic and the piano piece Life is but a Dream… everything else is garbage or mid.

You can hear why this this song wasn't released back in 2007, the new album's song is just so perfect in pretty much EVERY SINGLE WAY, production stuff, songwritting, details, and such an amazing work on instrumentation, at this time they were ready to bring back this idea, probably in the weirdest way possible, but this is already weird, so they took this to a whole new level, an still being weird, but just better and that's not "easier" at all...

Some of these comments are bat shit crazy. Its cool to see how the song has evolved but there's no question that the new Easier is LEAGUES better than this one. Anyone saying otherwise is in denial or has awful taste.
My man, how is it in bad taste that I don't enjoy autotune like in the intro/chorus, and high school PA system voice effects for the verses? Both of those things aside, it turns into sci-fi pop in the later half.
Not that this demo is particularly well done, it's a demo, but it's a lot Easier on the ears. You don't have great taste because you like the new one, just as I don't have it either because I don't like the new one.
They're two completely different songs. Saying one is better than the other is like saying that K-Pop song is better than this Hair Metal songs. Like comparing apples to oranges.
They are way too different to say one's better or worse than the other. I like both versions. They're two completely different beasts. So they coexist in my mind, rather than fight for the top spot

I love the chorus on this one more than the LIBAD version but the bridge are so bad and cheesy lol. I wish they worked more on this song in 2007 but oh well. Maybe once AI gets better we can hear what this song would have sounded like in completion.
The chorus in this demo is sooooo good. The way he sings the second part of it: "blaming the whole world for you..", instead of "I know you'll see brighter days", is so amazing, I wish they used this melody in the LIBAD version.

This is actually trash. New is better than the demo imo but this has more impressive ideas and stuff to pull from. Hopefully future songs. New album has grown on me more.

@@ironrex6979 In terms of quality, the album is excellent. The only songs that really flopped imo are Easier and (O)rdinary, as they aren't really that good. Other than those two, every song on the album is amazing. The album as a whole is kinda just a string of random songs, but you can't say that they're bad quality songs individually, because they are almost all expertly composed. It may not be the standard sound of A7X but it isn't a terrible album, people like you and the original commenter like to over-exaggerate your "hate" for the album when in reality it's great (save for a couple songs).
