Thank you so much for explaining the possible problems so well!! I have been sewing for over 50 years and finally learned how to adjust the tension!! I have a 14?year old Bernina that just gave me a motor failed msg. So I took out my mom’s old Singer, set it up only to find that the tension was awful and the stitch didn’t look right. Got online and discovered that it needed a different size needle and bobbins. After replacing those and watching your videos my stitch is great and I can finish up my holiday sewing!! Always something else to sew!! Thanks a bunch again!!
Thank god I found this vid! Dude I took my sewing machine apart to see how it works on the inside… I knew the problem was something with tension… the presser foot has to be up when you thread the needle! 🤦🏼♀️🎉🙏🏾🙏🏾
Hello! Another fun chat to listen to while I hand quilt! I just want you to know how much I enjoy your channel's content. I hope you have a cheerful week ahead! Thank you for sharing this video and your time.
All excellent tips. I especially like the way you explain how to be sure we are putting our bobbins into our machines correctly. The number six illustrations is a great one and easy to remember.
Thank you for the common sense reminders. I just went through cleaning out my machine and was ready to throw it out the window, because it wouldn’t sew right. I finally rethreaded it, and now it works fine. Sewing 101. Duh.
Thank you so much for your troubleshooting video. After showing your video to my wife she had a light bulb moment when you mentioned the “bird nest” issue and how to resolve that, and sure enough that was the issue. You are awesome, thank you and best to you always. 😎
Just subscribed. Great video. I have a friend who had the tension on her machine set incorrectly. Having sewn for a long time, I can tell when the tension is wrong by pulling the thread. I was able to fix that for her. Another friend never cleaned her machine and was having trouble. I explained to her over the phone what to do and her machine works fine now!
Welcome! Cleaning and tension are definitely issues that come up a lot. We are so glad you were able to help your friends with their machines! Thanks so much for watching and we hope to see you again soon!🎉🙌🎈
Good information. Thank You T I never used # 6 for bobbin I use the Letter P makes more sense to me! You are sew right, I was cleaning my 2450 I was tired I knew to wait but then it froze could not get the late back off!! Grrrr 👿 I was tired, covered him up went back after sleep and fixed it!
Great tips.... another common cleaning issue is the lint in the bobbin area. Super simple to clean, but very necessary! Especially after sewing velvet, Minky or flanellette...
Thank you, it helps to remember the basics! My machine trouble shooting mantra is take a deep breath and "TNT"...Thread, Needle, Tension...in that order. I have added make sure I'm rested to the list.
@@SewYeah I have yet to tear into mine. I was patching my husbands' jeans and now the needle won't even hold one stitch. So frustrating. There is no repairman for many miles. my machine is a Janome hd 1000. Where do I look for the problem??
Thank you, Teancum! I guess I need to replace my needle. I have that thumping sound going on now. No issues with my thread or my bobbin. And yes, I would rather have my machine at home with me than sitting on a rack waiting to have a check-up. ;0)
Thank you. It worked. My bobbin thread wasn't being picked up. I was going to buy a new machine. Thank you again very much. You are greatly appreciated. 😊
Also, I had a Janome that would not reverse. A, Janome My Excel 4023. If you have time, I would love to see a video of repairing that issue! New subscriber... I love your content! I am also a new and upcoming sewer.
I just sat here and laughed for 2 minutes because I quit sewing after I kept getting a birds nest 🙃 cleaned the machine. New needle. Yeah, please rethread 😅

i have a serger that all the tension dials have to be on 7 or 8, when they should be normally at 3. how can that be fixed? also, i have a new issue that just started and the thread for my left needle keeps popping out of the tension disks constantly...like every 15 inches of sewing. the tension is not too high, if i put it any lower the thread is loose. what is causing this? it might be related to the first issue with all the tension disks too loose. my machine is a janome 234d. where i live its minimum 200 bucks just to get a machine serviced, and that doesnt include any repairs, just the basic service.
Is their anyway at home to fix a bobbin winder on a singer 5040c I had the machine given to me and the bobbin winder wont lock in place to wind it.If I hold it in place it will wind the bobbin but this is not what I really want to do.
I have a Elna 6004 machine. The display screen says overload & the machine stops sporadically. I have done all the usual things. Do you know what might cause this?
I check the take -up lever and I still get birds nest , if I rethread the whole machine it works fine for a bit then get a birds nest again, any suggestions? Th.
Mine is newer and doesn’t have the disks. Every time I have to replace the threads it takes me a week to fix it. I always have the bubble on the top 😢help please
Hey every make and model and be a little different but normally that error code is that the needle plate isn’t down all the way or that your upper thread check spring is broken or has been missed in threading. Try read threading and taking off the needle plate and putting it back on and if that doesn’t fix it then I would recommend taking into a tech near you
It's not a nest. But it usually means your tension is too loose on top when this happens. Could be other issues, but usually that is the reason. Your thread may have slipped out of the tension spring on top as well. Check all those things. 💕💕
I am disabled so I am having trouble getting to my main machine. I bought a mini sewing machine. Nightmare. I think it only takes diddy cotton reels. I can't stop the thread from breaking. I rethreaded many times. I can pull the reel until the needle is threaded. Then it will not budge. What (probably daft) thing am I doing wrong? I am not sure if any other better quality reels will fit a mini machine. HELP!!!!😮
After some experiments of stitching, my needle didn’t move. I took bobbin out and start moving the handwheal . Now hand wheal doesn’t move too. My machine is Singer 2277
Old thread naturally degrades, and it will snap easier and more often while you're sewing. We recommend Aurifil thread, it comes in a ton of colors and will last you so much longer than the old spools.
Ive set my sewing machine up but when i sew it doesnt sew?? Like the needles moving and everything but when i look at my fabric theres no stiches done. What can i do???
What if my tension disk housing keeps falling out of my machine? 😳 I keep putting it back in and tightening it down real tight, but over time it falls out again.

My take up lever (Brother) was problematic; kept unthreading by slipping out of the groove. I tied a silk thread around it to create a secure groove. Problem solved in an emergency.
