I kinda take pride in the fact that I respond to every single comment ever no matter what (unless youtube does the dumb thing where there's no "reply" button). I have under 6,000 subscribers so its pretty easy to put in the time to make sure I respond to everyone. But this leaves me at a loss for what to do when haters crawl into my comment section. It feels like I'm breaking my streak by not replying to comments just because they are hate (which I know is dumb) but I also know I shouldn't give them any encouragement...
+ThisIsNotAMarisa You can delete or block comments on your own youtube videos so I suggest doing that. There is no reason you should have to deal with that kind of negativity in your life. Not only will deleting them provide a more positive environment for people who want to leave comments, but it will shut the haters up. Just my advice! Good luck!

When I was 13 my dad tried to get me to fight him, so I just looked him dead cold in the eyes and said' no' then just kept up the stare until he stormed off. That was getting close to 10 years ago and the man has been afraid of me ever since. Not engaging with hate and aggression is a powerful and effective statement on a one on one level.

I like this video. Not as much for the message (don't get me wrong what you said is 100% correct, every little bit) but for the actual emotion behind your expressions and words. I can tell you've been through all this sort of abuse and you've learned to deal with it. Don't get me wrong it still gets to you and it probably always will to some extent, but you've found ways to deal with it. One suggestion (Constructive criticism not "hate"): You may want to try and not swear so much depending on who your target audience is. If you're target audience is 13 to 19yo then swearing is good because it will drive them to your channel (uuu naughty words) but if you're targeting a more mature audience (20-30?) you may want to make your insults a little more... subtle and creative. If you don't agree with what I've said of course I won't be heartbroken over it but I'd appreciate if you can drop your point of view on the matter as well since I'd like to get your view (as a professional youtuber) on the matter.
My main demographic is whoever wants to watch, dude. I'm not swearing to be 'cool'. If kids like it, great! If adults don't, well, that's their choice! I'm just going to continue being me.

Things like this are the reason that you're one of my favourite youtubers. You're so honest about all your opinions, which is something I respect, and you're also constantly allowing yourself to grow and learn. You admit to mistakes you've made and you apologise for things when you feel like you're in the wrong or if you've said or done something you regret, and not a lot of people are brave enough to do that or are willing to do that. This video was perfection, I loved it!

Hi Emma :) I don't know if you will see this, but I just wanted to say thank you for making this video. I started making TH-cam videos about a month ago and I have loved creating them! Unfortunately, I have already started to receive hate and it broke my heart because I put so much tlc into my videos and I did not understand how someone could just spew hate for no good reason. I was actually going to stop making videos altogether today when I came across your video. It was exactly what I needed to hear :) The overall purpose for my channel is to make brain injury recovery videos as I was in a terrible car accident last year. I want to help as many people as I can get through their recovery. I was telling my husband today that some of the comments on a random video of mine (an iPhone video of all videos lol) was really getting to me mentally, I was going to completely stop and not even try with my recovery videos. I needed this video so badly right now. I've spent the last 2 school days at home running away from the people who think it's hilarious to make fun of my channel and my Instagram. I've barely gone to school in the past 2 weeks. It was eye opening to hear these words from you, as my parents and friends say the same thing, but I feel like they just don't understand it. At this point, I'm trying to work up the courage to finish my last few weeks at school before I switch schools, and make it through exams. Thank you for this video so much. I had some hate on my own channel recently, someone spammed my videos with 2-3 dislikes a video all in one day. I had a spike of around 560 dislikes in one day. Like why?!?!? What are you doing with your spare time?!?! Thank you for the advice Emma, honestly it's nice to hear the reassurance that just ignoring people online can be the best solution.

This is positive I swear - Emma, I thought your old videos were good and I really liked watching them but your new videos are so much better! Not talking about the quality or the content necessarily (although they have always improved, that is just because of are a good you tuber and always seem to be wanting to improve your channel); I like them more because you seem to have matured and changed in a positive way! Hi Emma :) I don't know if you will see this, but I just wanted to say thank you for making this video. I started making TH-cam videos about a month ago and I have loved creating them! Unfortunately, I have already started to receive hate and it broke my heart because I put so much tlc into my videos and I did not understand how someone could just spew hate for no good reason. I was actually going to stop making videos altogether today when I came across your video. It was exactly what I needed to hear :) The overall purpose for my channel is to make brain injury recovery videos as I was in a terrible car accident last year. I want to help as many people as I can get through their recovery. I was telling my husband today that some of the comments on a random video of mine (an iPhone video of all videos lol) was really getting to me mentally, I was going to completely stop and not even try with my recovery videos. This video has helped me greatly to want to continue to create. Thank you Emma :)
I needed this video so badly right now. I've spent the last 2 school days at home running away from the people who think it's hilarious to make fun of my channel and my Instagram. I've barely gone to school in the past 2 weeks. It was eye opening to hear these words from you, as my parents and friends say the same thing, but I feel like they just don't understand it.
At this point, I'm trying to work up the courage to finish my last few weeks at school before I switch schools, and make it through exams. However, I think I'm done with my TH-cam channel :(

i got some personal hate the other day and i screenshotted it and sent it to my friend like "lol they think i care what they think."
my friend got mad and i just sassed the person. like hate towards me doesn't bother me at all.
just know if you get some hate on the internet from someone you don't even know the name of, they are completely irrelevant in your life and their words shouldn't mean a single thing to you.

Thank you for this video so much. I had some hate on my own channel recently, someone spammed my videos with 2-3 dislikes a video all in one day. I had a spike of around 560 dislikes in one day. Like why?!?!? What are you doing with your spare time?!?!

I know you've had problems with haters before and how to deal with them, and I'm happy that you're learning that what they have to say really doesn't fucking matter. I'll be honest, I've thought you were kind of mean before, but that's just because being defensive on the internet can be tricky. You're not a bad person just because people don't like you or you say things before you knew of a better way to handle the situation. I'm glad you're letting all the hate and bullshit go. Live your life and do whatever the hell you want!
