Per chance there is something in the BMS that is allowing charge at low temperatures because your only charging at a very very low rate. I think you said 1.5Amp, not sure if its a mosnomer or not but i thought you can charge at below zero but at very reduced rates ? Just clutching at straws, thanks for your time.
Can I charge that battery with a 50 amp charger with direct current? Will the bms limit the current of which it accepts when it gets close to full charge and float with the bms ? Or do I need a smart charger?
low temp cutoff. Nice, if it works. I have two of the powerqueen 200ah look alikes, but no low temp cutoff. Had to be careful and put in a transfer switch and an extension cord feed to either my tool shed's battery, or the house, to keep the mini-split keeping the temp above freezing. I think you might have an older battery. The battery model number on your case has a K at the end and any listing Im seeing isnt showing a K in the model number ...so Im also assuming they are listing their newest battery models....could that be the issue?
Have you considered testing the Weise 100Ah? I am not able to do such testing as you do. The company says it has low temp protection (Will showed it did) and a 10 Yr. warranty. However the paperwork says 5 years. They assured me 10. I suggested they be more descriptive and fix the paper work. The paper with the battery doesn't say low temp protection...
Great video thank you! I was wondering if you think this could handle a boat AC unit. I currently use a 3000 watt generator and only kick it on for about 15min at a time every hour over night.

So I pulled the trigger on (2) of these, in 100ah, on CyberMonday. Will’s Review had me (discouraged). I guess due to the negative exposure, they Corrected the key Problems (solder vs. Crimp) before you got your example. I made them Assure me, whatever that’s worth since I won’t be ripping them apart, but I wanted it in Writing in a private email exchange, that they Crimp and no longer solder ! The Nyloks hadn’t become evident til I saw your Review. My decision took A LONG time, and I had whittled a Long list down to Weize and Vatrer, based solely upon economics. Reputable Docan Power came out with one, but No Reviews to date and I seldom feel “lucky” in rolling dice on unknowns. The Vatrer came in with a significantly Lower FDC (final delivered cost) than the Weize, and at the end of the day, my decision was to $ave and use the Savings for an AC Charger. @@Vatrer Thank you for responding directly & quickly. Glad to know that it was an error rather than a build spec. All other aspects are so well considered- even overbuilt- that it does seem like an oversight or mistake.
Excellent video. Get a breath. I am not a fan of aluminum conductors be they buss bars, cables or straps. With the capacity at 200 amps there is going to be sufficient heat to warm those bars up and expand. Where is the goop, grease, etc. for the connections. With the aluminum conductors swelling and shrinking unless they are chromed there is a problem. Still with chrome there should be a fine layer of goose grease preferably Ronny Red grease. The ny-lock nut is good except for the "one use scenario". We all reuse them but that does not make it right. I never have trusted "one shot parts", even on the first shot. Still, better than a smooth nut or a kick there. I love these lithium cells. After 45 years of babying lead acid banks large enough to run a regular house for weeks or one 125 VDC motor for 72 hours or until it went up in flames, I see lithium batteries as amazing. Still, this battery is a "PLUS" and is rated at 207 AH. 202 AH is just another scratch in the finish. Thanks for the education.
REVISED: After reading the manufacturer's response, It needs to be retested. Disregard the following: // The deal breaker is mislabeling. Your blog is worth subscribing thumbs up and subscribed.
Seems to be a huge disparity in build quality between this battery and the 100 amp hr in other reviews. Anyone know which to expect with their 300amp hr model?
Funny how right after someone does a review of these batteries the price goes up 30 bucks for the 100ah version and no more coupon for the 200 amp on Amazon. Twice now on the 100ah that I've seen. Not sure on the 200.
I didn't realize the Amazon listing was dead. My recommendation for the 12V 200Ah class would be the SOK www.currentconnected.com/product/sok-sk12v206-lifepo4-battery/?ref=lithiumsolar it costs a bit more but it''s sold and serviced by a US company and backed by a 10 year warranty. Actually they probably wouldn't listen just anybody but they do the big four reviewers if Will gives a bad review they lose sales that hurts hopefully you have enough clout if so they'll fix it if not maybe Will will do a review this is why I wish he hadn't forgot where he started from up hear in Canada we have a lower dollar add 25% and gst add 5% and sky-high shipping which is sometimes higher than the product price so we're stuck with what we can buy from Lows and Rona online free or low shipping costs and all they carry is sealed lead acid battery technology now there is a unit which could be a good Entry level unit but since it has the wrong charging parameters it'll need new batteries yearly it would be a great entry level unit if they'd change from pwm to mppt solar charge controller that could be programed for lithium but as long as the only reviews they get are that it's a great unit because it works when purchased don't care if it dies after the warranty period is over or if it needs new batteries every 9 months to a year don't care if you can only use it every 2 or third day because it has so bad an input wattage
I think you should post the manufacture's response to the low temp sensors - it is the right thing to do. You should retest grouping the 3 sensors together. Then post the results.

Wild, people only buy low temp protection battery's if they need it. Typical,I went for the battery without low temp cut off, I store them in heated storage. Let's face it if your battery's are cutting off because of low temp than that's a problem in itself, when its cold people need their battery's to work. Heated storage is the best solution.
The nuts are called: "nylocks." The nylon degrades when exposed to heat, and one didn't look like it was fully engaged. If the bolt/screw doesn't protrude through the nylon, the locking action is lost. Fiberglass reinforced strapping tape ... across the BMS heatsink?! Strapping tape is meant for reinforcing packages - not for electronic assemblies! That tape will fail with time when the adhesive deteriorates. And that time will be short when exposed to the heat from the BMS. You'll end up with a sealed plastic case full of loose items rattling around inside. Shoddiness!

I just watched the cold test several more times and I never saw him put all 3 sensors in the ice cold water at the same time. Maybe the manufacturer is correct, all 3 must be used.
We used nylon locking nuts on our skateboards running gear, they likely still do.
i guess that sensor is for overheat sensing not cold :)
The Chans 300 amp hour battery is the same price and has high and low temperature charging protection and is just as well built plus another hundred amp hours
If you but one of these batteries & it does not have a bms w/bluetooth, how can we monitor soc? Asking for a friend!
This battery does not have bluetooth. There is no way to monitor state of charge without an external device, such as a Victron Smart Shunt.
I APPRECIATE You ! 👍🏼😊
Wow- so much to love, but- no low temp charging protection? I live pretty far North and the boats I'm looking at are even farther North (Nova Scotia)- It's NOT optional for me. I like the 8D form factor with the lower height even. Bummer. Thanks David!
In fact, our models with batteries above 50ah have low temperature protection cut-off function, so you can buy with confidence. This battery may be an accident, we are also looking for the problem.
@@Vatrer Thank you for responding directly & quickly. Glad to know that it was an error rather than a build spec. All other aspects are so well considered- even overbuilt- that it does seem like an oversight or mistake.
@@DCGULL01 Of course, it is impossible that directly falsely advertise our products like this by ourselves.
A good one with serviceable cells
Please tell me the size of one cell
REVISED: After reading the manufacturer's response, It needs to be retested. Disregard the following: // The deal breaker is mislabeling. Your blog is worth subscribing thumbs up and subscribed.
Nuts to be safe need 2.5 threads of the bolt protruding. That NyLoc nut is usless.
Seems to be a huge disparity in build quality between this battery and the 100 amp hr in other reviews. Anyone know which to expect with their 300amp hr model?
A nyloc nut, also referred to as a nylon-insert lock nut
you should a try overheat protection, most likely that would have stopped it
Funny how right after someone does a review of these batteries the price goes up 30 bucks for the 100ah version and no more coupon for the 200 amp on Amazon. Twice now on the 100ah that I've seen. Not sure on the 200.
What do you do after these after you tear them down?
I don't know yet. I have a big shelf full of them lol.
Is there a chance you can sell it to your Loyal subscribers? 😏 Regards from New Zealand... I Love your work :) Forcing these companies to improve :)
does it have an app for bms? for $700.00 it shoud
Do you have a new link or a battery you would recommend since this one?
I didn't realize the Amazon listing was dead. My recommendation for the 12V 200Ah class would be the SOK www.currentconnected.com/product/sok-sk12v206-lifepo4-battery/?ref=lithiumsolar it costs a bit more but it''s sold and serviced by a US company and backed by a 10 year warranty. If you're looking for budget and don't require low-temp charging protection, LiTime is a solid choice (previously known as AmpereTime).
@@LithiumSolar thank you. I watched a ton of videos and yours made sense, thank you
Can you please review the Vatrer 460 ah battery
I don't think I am going to review any more of their batteries due to questionable quality/quality control.
@@LithiumSolar most of us rivers do not travel in cold weather and could care less about low temp shutoff being a necessity. I do thank you for your reviews and teardowns
Nice review.
You would have a better presentation if you got the info from the co. You said you didn’t have time for before uploading your video. Content is as important as timing, in my opinion.
does anyone know what the exact float and absorption charge settings on MPPT controller should be for this battery? And should they be the same?
great job
I did, check here th-cam.com/users/postUgkxuQRI3Zamd5nl3bdBNA_Owxc3a6La9Wkl
Such a test is incorrect and can only be tested if it is really in a cold, large environment.
Please refer to our video :th-cam.com/video/tP9Bth37CRY/w-d-xo.html
No low temperature charge cut off.... Sad
maybe they can update the firmware of the BMS so it works with low temp protection?
Our batteries definitely have low temperature protection, so you can buy with confidence. then go back and test
Nice job
Has anyone done a teardown and test on an Enduro battery, I am curious how they are 25% smaller in size than other similar batteries.
Anyone got a link thmo these in the UK? Great video.
You can contact the company and ask here, www.vatrerpower.com/pages/contact
Will do in Germany
You are so comprehensive
It's like being in first place in a race and tripping 10' short of the finish line.
lol
Is the battery protected from an EMP?
No
Would you buy this battery? Do you think the company will be around for warranty replacement? Do you think this one is representative of all the current manufactured ones or did you receive a "special" one?
I really don't know. I highly doubt it's a "special" one sent for review; however, company has not demonstrated adequate knowledge of internal components to my satisfaction.
See this, th-cam.com/video/tP9Bth37CRY/w-d-xo.html
Nice!
Great video! However could have done with some fire🔥 so I'll have deduct a point and can only give you a 9 out of 10
Why would you want to see fire in a battery review?
@@LithiumSolar Will does fire it's all about the fire, sadly not enough fire here 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
It is amazing how quickly you pull your pants back up after you get pantsed....
That Nylon Locking Nut isn't even engaged because the stud is too short.
I'm pretty sure they had some kind of thread sealer on the short studs. If you look at the nut I held up, you can see flaky stuff on it.
Looks like a great battery, so long as you won't use it in freezing conditions, at least the price is right.
I agree, it is a great battery! They just should not advertise it with a feature it doesn't have. That's my only gripe.
@@LithiumSolar Agreed - I suspect the Technical department, Sales department and the Language Translation departments of these companies very seldom communicate with each other.
How can you say this when we have proof of different BMS’s being used????
@@ericklein5097 If you don't believe me, you can buy our batteries and go back and test the low temperature function yourself.
If not, you can return the battery.
@@ericklein5097 100Ah battery and 20Ah battery use different BMS, but both have low temperature cutoff
Dam that cheap where I live this cost close to 1000$ even raw cells are expensive .
Wow, really? Where abouts are you (which country)?
The battery was sent to Mike for testing by ourselves. If there is no low temperature protection function, we will not test it for him, and then let you guys complain about our false propaganda.
There we go; the real Power vater coming through
Free battery. nice
These things are starting to become affordable.

Nice soft icecream cone dispensing (ROFL)
I'm not sure I understand the joke??
@@LithiumSolar The silicone blobs
Shoddiness!
So you got this sent to you for free and they knew it? who is to say they did not send you a special unit with fixed issues?
What? Did you not watch the video and see the temp control issue that I pointed out?
@@LithiumSolar I more meant the soldering job vs other TH-camrs teardowns. It’s very common in tech for companies to send specific units hand picked.
@@blank7921 No, actually it's not common at all. I've been doing this for a very long time and I've not seen it happen even once. I've seen the soldering video you're referring to and I agree that was crap. They've since fixed it.
In your opinion what’s the best home back up battery let’s say one day with the 220v appliances changed with solar
Seems some of these companies will cut corners and only make things better if they get caught... not sure if the aluminum buss bars are large enough to carry the ampere... copper is better...
Test the new "big battery" that are 10.5" tall 47.5" wide 1.5" thick 1.76kw 12v.... $899 is a little over priced but nice to hide in camper
