As soon as you are ready with this, don't forget you to restart your computer :-) Another thing is, for me the Pioneer XDJ XZ Interface do not work proper enough with the search wheel and you will def need to glance on your Serato list !!! Having only "titles" as information in the Pioneer Interface to select first, is not enough for me. On my machine there is also no information on the center CD display as well.

Great video thank you. I wonder if Pioneer or through update on this controller it would ever support using Serato without the need of taking your laptop to gigs? I have found Serato much better for larger libraries compared to Rekordbox
@Jayskeelarter Unfortunately, Serato DJ Pro is a laptop only software, it cannot work standalone. That’s why I’d recommend to you the DDJ 1000SRT. You still have screens in the centre of the jog wheels and also, it has way more functionally to Serato features, for example: the pitch play mode. You can’t change the parameter on the controller itself. Hope this helps!
Need to know 1 thing I’m trying to hook this up (XDJ-XZ) with a CDJ 3000 in HID with Serato but for the life of me I can not figure this out also it wont work with rekordbox 5.8.5 either ...everything works in RKB 6.2 with CDJ 3000 HID mode showing in the audio tab in settings at the bottom why is this ? OK, I just figured out it’s in the software you have to delete from in the software. If anybody knows how to do it from the controller please let me know
Great video. Can you kill all three EQS when using Serato. I tried that with my ddj1000 SRT and it was still bleeding sound. I don't want to make that mistake again.
So, did I understand correctly? In Rekordbox Mode, this is essentially a two channel mixer. In Serato Mode, you can hit the Shift button and it can change from deck 1 to 3 and 2 to 4?
I've had my xz over a year now and went straight to rekordbox but I always needed a bigger memory stick or hard drive for my music so only just watching your video coz I totally forgot how to set up 😆 but over the moon now so got my whole collection on serato on new fast lappy at a breeze and rekordbox is the option when i play out on standalone. Thanks for the video advice it certainly helped me.

It also has WAY LESS sound quality.. WAY worse jog wheels. And more problems to go along with way more features. And it is also WAY less reliable and durable then the xz.

I know you said if you are a serato user save money and get the 1000srt or sx3. But if you are extremely sick of an sx1, want to use Rekordbox as well and learn CDJs/standalone is the difference in money worth the upgrade? I have been pondering about this forever and waiting to see this Serato review before a decision.
It's literally my spot. I grow up on cdj, dreaming if cdj 1000 and later 2000 and nexus, then switched to the SX 1, loved it and had an happy wedding for 7 years, but I kinda miss my old dream. So it comes the dilemma of DDJ 1000 (witch is literally the sx but more cdj and djm style) or the XZ (stand alone on 2 decks, and big is better sometimes). The thing that bothers me however, is that the XZ, as sexy as it is, it's not up to the competition, and seems just rushed and bad designed. So I'll prob go for the DDJ 1000, rb version cause Serato one is dummy on its own.
It's cheaper than a pair of CDJ's and DJM mixer if you want the feel of those. The DDJ1000 SRT comes close but still feels like a controller, this however, feels much more like a true nexus set up
Great review! So say I want to use the Serato FX specifically while mixing, I know it's not possible via this mixer as the effects are hardware-side. However, is there a way to do it with some sort of addition to XDJ-XZ+Serato, that would still give me per-channel control? If so, what would I be looking for?
If you connect a companion controller like SP1 or XP2 to your laptop, then they can manipulate the Serato FX. So, you could go FX berserk and run both Serato FX _and_ Pioneer HW FX simultaneously. I would, however, recommend against it.:! ;-)
Yes there is a way. You can activate the serato fx to a channel on your computer. But the FX come pre fader. So its coming in hot from serato into the channel . Would be hard to work with.
Cheers francesco. Still don't think I can justify the expense. Might have to go for the RX2. Its just those mechanical jog wheels and that upgradability potential with a CDJ or two..

Pioneer DJ was sold to japanese investors again, a photo printing company. For real though, keep defending but they are definitely failed uto up their game, pioneer might have ink printer replacing cd's on cdj's thru following years. printing lyrics or money on while djing. clap2x.

This thing makes a lot of sense for a club to purchase instead of CDJs & a Mixer. Just get this. It'll be way cheaper

Of course you can. Actually this happens as first thing in the video. Track plays on channel 1 via USB and he loads another channel using Serato. ;)

update the firmware i use 5.85 rekordbox with mine and serato it works fine

1 laptop / 2 USB on the XZ. 2 laptops / 0 USB on the DDJ 1000.
Correct but the cool thing about this is that the track will still keep playing if you have to change laptops

That’s why i still have hesitations to or not to buy this unit. Cuz as serato djs we need more options than these or being labeled as second users 🤔.

Yes you can, you're limited to 2 decks only if you play USB. Serato and Rekordbox can work with all 4

This was a good option but miserably failed because of one USB B port. I mean like are you serious Pioneer?
