    I love the pillow roller look best looks fuller and more volume

    This is so interesting! The pillow curls definitely look more Hollywood glamour 40’s-50’s and the foam curlers look more put-together 30’s-40’s. So interesting that the type of curler helps achieve the look of a particular era but I suppose it makes sense!

    I'm a fan of the shorter, less voluminous, and "tidier" side if I were to wear it. Both are absolutely darling on you.

    When I was a teen, I used to sleep in large hard plastic curlers. They were murder to wear but the end result was entirely worth it. These were dream curls. I won't ask you to try them, but, if you decide to, I'd love to see how they look! ♡♡

      Yes same! My hair was too long to entirely dry so I had to sleep with metal curlers overnight. Now it’s been ages from when I curled my hairbut I ordered foam rollers so I hope it’ll work out!!

    • @stephs.3657
      @stephs.3657 3 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      @@alicializzie Yes, I've had great results with foam rollers and hope you have the same! Hard curlers create more uniform curls, but foam rollers are definitely the next best option.
      Have you tried setting lotions? I use one with flaxseed oil which prevents frizzy ends. :)
      Good luck with your curlers!

      I remember getting a wet set with medium size old plastic 70s blue curlers you know the ones with holes and secure it with a plastic lock thing several years ago just for the sake of fun and my hair looked perfection until I washed my hair. The sleeping was awful but the results were mind blowing 😲😲😲❗ I don't understand why I don't see more people trying a wet set with those type.

    • @AnnieinKC

      I used to use those hard plastic lg rollers! They were so hard to sleep on, but they made a beautiful, thick head of hair! I got TONS of compliments. Mostly from the men, LOL! They never got tired of that "Put The Blame on Mame, Boys" look in the '70's!

    I love the foam rollers....I just feel like you get a more consistent look, but the pillow rollers I think are easier for those days when you just want body. I use both for my locs but I tend to lean on foams when I need more cohesive curls.

  • @missgingerjones
    @missgingerjones 3 ปีที่แล้ว +49

    Oh wow! They looked so similar until the brush out! I prefer foam rollers too but I do like the looser floofier look with the pillow rollers. I hate my pillow rollers-cheap conair LOL and the wires poke out but I was twisting them and not wrapping into a circle like you did so I’ll have to try that!

    • @SalindaNichols
      @SalindaNichols  3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      That's why I love doing these setting experiments, it's so fun to see the differences at the end and how they evolve and change! Wrapping them in a circle definitely makes them more secure!, I'd love to see if you try them again 😊

    Pillow Rollers and Sponge Rollers are both great tools for vintage hairdressing. However in my opinion, Smooth Magnetic Rollers and plenty of time under a Bonnet Hair Dryer, followed by plenty of Back Brushing/Combing with a lot of Hairspray is the Gold Standard 😀

    I think i'd pick the foam rollers... because within an hour my hair looks like the pillow rollers and after two hours it's only a slight wave...
    My hair doesn't hold the curl, even with hair mousse for strong hold.
    How long does this wet set curl hold up in your hair? Does it really stay like this for the whole day?
