    Helped me decide. Thanks for putting in the time! You sound one of those excellent nurses we're lucky to have working with us.

    I bought a master cardiology for when I start PA school in a few months. Cost me over $200 but if there's one thing you'll be using every single day, it's your steth. Price was no object on this one.

    I can't start to say how much I appreciate your thorough and honest reviews of these stethoscopes!!! I am a nursing student but I wear hearing aids. I am not deaf, but do have mild-moderate hearing loss. I also work at a local hospital with a pool of 30 physicians. They have been wonderful about letting me test their stethoscopes but most of them are outdated. I have been going back and forth between the Cardiology III and Master Cardiology for a few months and need to make a decision!

    What's most important in stethoscopes are both Ford and Bowles chest pieces, a high-quality, air-tight valve, tubing that is not excessively long and earpieces that occlude the canals completely. There inexpensive instruments that fulfill all of these criteria.

    Great video! Don't say you're "just a nurse." Nurses still work hard and educated! Take pride in yourself and this great review. You definitely helped me come to a decision.

      No one is saying otherwise. I believe she was saying that in comparison to an MD.

    I just got a master cardio after a friends recomendation. to be honest 200$ for a steth i thought it was preposterous. well, its not. you can listen heart and lungs over: a
    t-shirt, a sweater, a 2nd sweater and a leather jacket (at which point i run out of clothes) and you listen WELL -specially the lungs. i dont know if you can do that with the Cardio 3, but i've never done it with 50$ scopes.

      david furman you dont need stethoscope to get under the cuff...you just need to auscultate brachial artery. :)

    its not the stethoscope that matters but your ability to recognize and calling the abnormal sounds when they are present. My attending uses 10 dollars stethoscope and call abnormal sounds much better than anybody else out there.

    Thank you very much for all of your help! I care for a large range of patients and I'm sure that will continue as I finish nursing school. You sold me on the Cardiology III :) I just can't express how grateful I am to have found your review! LIFE SAVER of sanity and $. LOL! Thanks!!!

    Works at a surgical floor...Surgeons dont use scopes, especially orthos. Its nurses that assess for obstructive bowels sounds, or crackles in lungs, or wheezes in bronchioles...

    As far as sound quality goes they're on par but who would want to give up a good warranty? The Master has a 7 year vs the iii has what? 3-5 years? That's an extra 2 years of protection from the Master!

  • @vienna8392

    Thank you for the wonderful comparison! I think eventually I just want both. The Cardiology III for nursing school during clinicals and the fact that I have small children (*one has a murmur!) so of course I'll be listening to them :-D
    Eventually I'll want to work in geriatrics so then I'll purchase the Master Cardiology
    *pulmonary stenosis, condition improving every year. She has the green light from her cardiologist to live a normal life, but I will be listening to her all the time nonetheless.
    Thank you, thank you, thank you for the review, it really did help 💐

    Thanks for the review. I recently bought a cardiology III. Extraordinary quality of sound compared with previous Littmanns... no seriously -that different -that much better. Certainly a very good set of tubes for general practice. I would be very interested in a specialist review of the master cardiology.
    With the Master series stethoscope I suspect it is not designed to take bits on and off regularly. Thus if the acoustics justify then you have to buy 2 or buy a dedicated neonatal and/or paediatric set.

      The tubing is much thicker and they are quite a bit heavier. You will be able to auscultate murmurs much more clearly if you don't mind walking around with a sore neck. One thing that I really like is that the "pediatric" headpiece with the smaller tunable diaphragm is superb for listening to carotid and femoral bruits, and even for listening to flow in the temporal arteries.

      If she's not a doctor I wonder how she can do a review about something she doesn't know, I'd like to see a doctor doing the review because he/she can do a real comparison based in real facts and not in its personal opinion based only in what she thinks.

      Doctors usually only spend a couple of minutes doing their assessment, where as nurses are with the patient all day. If there are any problems during the day, the nurse will reassess the patient and call the doc with the findings. The doc then reassess the pt if she/he is available. What I am trying to say is that nurses ears have to be just as good as the docs. I use my stethoscope all day long, and was trained in nursing school what to listen for (heart, lung, and bowel sounds). Hope this helps.

    • @MySinger94
      @MySinger94 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +Roy Henry don't get me wrong, I know lots of nurses and I know they do a pretty good job and without them hospitals can't work but in this case I wanted to hear the opinion of a physician

    • @matthewwhitt6060
      @matthewwhitt6060 8 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      +Pugzilla69 Why? You do know that in many cases nurses and paramedics use the scopes more than most of the physicians. In fact, I take the word of a paramedic in most cases because they push the limits of stethoscope use in very noisy environments.

    • @matthewwhitt6060
      @matthewwhitt6060 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Asael Faviãn It is all personal opinions. If you read our physicians boards you will get 20 different answers as to what is the best stethoscope. In many cases the auxiliary staff and nurses push these scopes to their limits everyday.
