Not gonna lie I probably would have rather seen Sturm, but I’d imagine this wasn’t a decision made lightly by MG so he must be bringing something to the table that everyone likes. Let’s see how year one goes. I’m hoping for the best.
Maybe during the exit interviews the players had nice things to say about him. Could Sturm ciuld be considered for the assistant position or is it kind of a "Head coach or bust" situation with regards to Sturm?
Sturm already has experience as an assistant coach in the NHL so he wouldn’t necessarily do it to help his career prospects. At this point, it’s whether he would rather be in charge of an AHL team or be second in command of an NHL team.
@@professorhockey I wish there was a way to snag both. He could be great on the Cuda, but the Sharks don't seem to want to remove Mccarthy. I also don't have much issue with Mccarthy tbh. I alsothink that Sturm is still employed with the Reigb so there isn't much reason for him to switch organizations without getting a promotion unless he really wanted to coach the Sharks/Cuda
Hey Professor, I am glad of this pick. I fear what will happen to whomever the Sharks picked because the team is still so far removed from being a competitive team. I really didn't want to see Marco Sturm get "Quinned" after a few seasons because the team was still struggling so I will be pleased to see our new coach (I am avoiding trying to spell that name just yet! hahaha) can do and if he is ultimately let go THEN bring Marco in when the team is more capable. Hopefully our new coach will succeed and it will be a long time before a new coach is considered to replace him. Pete Clovis, CA
Let’s make this simple. MG likes the culture, just knows the talent wasn’t there and thinks Warsofsky can sustain it, while bringing something Quinn didn’t.
Good things were done with Karlsson and Valasic over the past 1-2 years, but the defense just sucked so bad last year, the team so soft to play against - so Greier makes the assistant in charge of defense the head coach? Gotta give W the benefit of the the doubt, but if the D does not firm up and quick Mike G and Coach W ought to be out
Yeah, there was some good and a lot of bad these last couple of years when it comes to the defense. We can only hope it was more of a personnel issue and not a coaching issue here.
I had the same concern when I first heard but the dude won the Calder as HC for Chicago Wolves so I'll give him the benefit of the doubt for now let's see how it plays out. Still like this rather than getting a "carousel" coach as prof put it. Full rebuild from the ground up got to embrace it
I love how you start your videos. No time wasted

Wanted Marco sturm but I’m happy with warsofsky can’t wait to see what he does for the sharks
He was my pick for the job, I’m glad Grier didn’t go for retreads, even if woodcroft is relatively new. Excited to see what he can bring to the team.
Happy to have this settled before the draft. Excited to see us get to work.
Great fit. Good recap. Keep it up professor.
Love it!

Sturm flat out said he's a head coach and will not take an assistant role. Not sure how stubborn he is but 🤷
