UPDATE: Looks like Sam Dickinson was sent down soon after I recorded this video. Perhaps with Mukhamadullin and Vlasic soon returning from injury, they didnt think they would get him another game and would rather him get back to London.
Way too early to say that. He’s still 18, and a pretty young 18 at that with a June birthday. Obviously I would have liked to see (much) more from him, but I’m still confident he’ll turn it around. The other choice, Buium, hasn’t played any preseason games because he’s not under contract and is going back to college, so can’t really even compare to him.
Hey Professor, I am very happy for Gushchin. He has worked hard for a while now and when he has had his chances with the Sharks has looked pretty good. I could see this guy being a bit like Barabanov potentially. No, not that Barabanov that is unhappy and doesn't produce, the other Barabanov who scores 50 pts or whatever his total was that year where he really blossomed. I am also very hopeful that this first real wave of prospects landing with the Baracuda will help to lift the Cuda into the play offs and improve the fortunes of that team. Pete Clovis, CA
The Barracuda should hopefully make the playoffs this year, it really shouldn’t be that hard considering almost 75% of the league makes it but it has eluded them many times.
Really really want to see Gushin make the lineup. He’s played so well and could really add a punch to a bottom six or even middle six line. Also side note I’m pretty sure Dell was cut from his PTO, but I could be wrong.
@@ianhall6614 i think his wife is from the area and they recently had another kid, so it seemed like he was in the area anyways. he's just cheap veteran depth and something tells me hes gonna be more like a goalie den mother/coach/mentor thing than anything
@@professorhockey I did not. I was going to take Will Smith in the late rounds but he was taken 2 picks before I had him queued. I did take a few high risk, high reward picks: Fantilli, Beniers, Monahan (having a career year for his friend Gaudreau) and took Brock Faber as one of my 3 D-Men.
He has high end potential but does not have enough experience playing against grown men who are also faster. Cele and Smith have each spent a year playing against grown man. I wouldn’t put quite put Musty in the realm those 2 in terms of their potential, but he is still an excellent excellent prospect who looks like will potentially turn into an extremely effective NHL player. It’s up to him and the player development staff to grow into that potential player, I think he will figure it out and be pushing for a roster spot next year
I’d love to see Gushchin play on a line with some high skill players. He’s looked good with Cardwell, but imagine how much better he’d look if Smith was dishing him the puck into open space.
All of them were probably not going to make much of an impact... save for Musty. He was too effective in camp, in the RF, and in his games to be back in the OHL. That's just too little competition. Wish he qualified for the A so he could develop a bit further. Outside of him, the rest don't hurt too bad. Dickinson needs to cook, Halttunen needs to cook, all of them really just need a bit more time in the lower levels before they are fully ready. As far as players still up, I think there's a ton of potential, but not a lot of spots. Still really baffled by the decision to sign Wennberg - all it does is take a spot from someone like Musty or potentially Guschin, Graf, etc., who could have been better served developing up in the majors. Let's see how they do! My NHL 25 sim has been fun with a roster full of rookies 😂
Glad they sent Dickinson down with this wave...to keep him around just because of his high draft status would make a mockery of the merit system that is supposed to operate in training camp. He's got lots of raw talent, but he's clearly not ready for the NHL now - he tries to do too much, too quickly, frequently resuling in D-zone turnovers. Hopefully this will improve with coaching in the OHL and , later, the Barracuda. Feel bad for Furlong -but have a feeling he'll be back next year. he kind of reminds me to Dylan DeMelo, who has gone on to a very respectable NHL career in Winnipeg. Who cares what round he was drafted in? Pavelski was a seventh rounder- and DanBoyle was undrafted! I share your hope that the team will give Guschin his shot at the NHL this season...and maybe Cardwell too. They have both excelled in the AHL. I'd love to see them try a third line of Guschin-Wennberg- Cardwell(with Goodrow-Sturm-Kunin rounding out the bottom six)...if not right off the bat, then perhaps after Grundstrom and Dallandria reaffirm the journeyman status they displayed at their former teams.
The Sharks do at least stream each preseason game, though you need to be in the San Jose area to watch them. Or you can watch my preseason game reviews to keep up with what’s happening🙂

Was he a bad pick? 11th overall?

Bottom line the future looks bright for the Sharks. Great job as always.

I believe the Barracuda signed him to an AHL contract a couple of days ago
@@professorhockey Weird. I don’t even remember where I saw that, but yeah it looks like the did sign him.
Name a more iconic on again, off again relationship than the San Jose Sharks organization and Dell lol

Good overview, prof! Is Cagnoni eligible for the AHL this season or is it NHL or juniors for him too, like Musty?
He can go to the AHL because he turns 20 before January 1st.
Did my yearly fantasy draft tonight and Macklin Celebrini went super early right after Bedard. The hype is real.
Did you draft a sharks player?

I'm surprised about Musty, thought he was on par with Smith and Celebrini.

Gushchin has the most preseason points. He wasn't suited up tonight.

I do not live in San Jose, so I am not 🥲

Always fun to do those rookie teams in NHL games, at least until all their ELCs are up haha

Surprised Musty got cut, however there is virtually zero coverage of pre season Sharks Games, so we have nothing to actually see.

Musty can’t play in the AHL until he is 20. He can play in the AHL next season
When will people realize musty can’t play in the Ahl this year lol
