I know this is an older video, so you may not even see this. But I wanted to say that this is what I love about you, Angie, that keeps bringing me back to watch your videos. You actually feel genuine and down to earth. You seem like a nice, quirky, fun lady who I'd appreciate having as a friend if we knew each other.
I know you say often that you're "not everyone's cup of tea" or that you feel sometimes like you have to tone yourself down. But don't, honey. You're great just as you are. Hugs from a Southern gal currently living in Canada.

For the white cabinet conundrum, consider doing white on the uppers and a more forgiving color on the lowers. We did this in my kitchen and it kept the room bright but allowed the bottom ones to get dirty without looking trashy. Toddler + dogs + cats + me cooking like a muppet = messy 😂

Ooooh yes I’m considering this for my future kitchen renovation. It’s definitely a great solution to reduce mess with kids. I’m also planning to mainly have drawers in my lower cabinets rather than cupboards, as I’ve heard from so many people that it’s better for storing pots and pans etc.

If you do a stain with a green base to it, it will help with the orange color. If you follow Andrea from pine and prospect she redid her floors to cover up the orange in her floors and she has a good tutorial on covering up the orange. To me the extra effort to get what I picture in my head is always worth it because it takes more time in the long run if you start again because it’s not what you originally want.

Love your honesty about this life. And hope that rash heals fast!
A suggestion based on past experience, think hard about trying to change the woodwork. It is an overwhelming job to do and if you don't change every bit, the continuity of the house is gone. Lighten paint, wallpaper, curtains, decor, etc. and you can more easily ignore the wood tones you're not fond of. Curtains in the entryway will disguise the wood without painting. And living in the south too, I would never lose a ceiling fan! Good luck with your decisions. With your busy family and life, keeping your decorating projects as simple as possible can keep your sanity!

We are getting ready to remodel our kitchen as well, we have the yellow/orange red oak. I want to do almost the exact same thing that you wanted to do, we are going to strip the bottom cabinets, and turn it into more of a darker brown oak to get rid of the yellow/orange. And then paint the upper cabinets cream with a brick backsplash. The only difference in my kitchen is that the countertops won’t have gray in them. It’ll just be a cream with brown/beige veining. I definitely think you should take a cabinet door and strip it and see if you can figure out a way to keep the wood.

I think the people that have that easy breezy look to their channels, typically are more minimal with clothes, household items, decorating, etc. Always getting boxes of all the things creates a huge job of keeping track of inventory and always dealing with deciding what to keep and where to store it.
Ginger Zee from Good Morning America decided she wouldn't buy any clothes for a year. Her point was that we all have too much "stuff" and it creates a huge problem for our environment.
It really made me think about how I can make changes and be content with what I have. I'm slowly realizing that less is more!😊

I believe that the majority of the people who watch you would rather see the true life you lead. In all honesty, there was a period of time when I stopped watching you because you veered off from that content and it just did not interest me. It is helpful to see how others cope with the trials of life. It can be inspiring and relatable to see how the ups and downs of life are handled. I mean, I am not going to walk to the top of a beautiful mountain or take a dip in a cold stream at 5 in the morning. That is not reality for most of us. We are going to get up and take care of our homes and family. I do not take discussing the truth of life as complaining but being honest and not fake. There is enough fake on TH-cam.

I would either strip the reddish tone of the window frames to neutralise them a little or I’d leave them as is(they look gorgeous in contrast with your blue walls and your furniture colours. Either way I’d put some skylight windows in the ceiling of the entryway and they come in thermo-regulating glass these days so that would brighten up the room without overheating, especially once you put up the drapes and blinds. I totally relate to you on struggling to decide on home renovations and decor, it can be such an expensive and potentially permanent decision. I’m super indecisive with these things as well. 😊

I would hire someone to at least sand the floors. It is very difficult not to make sander marks in the wood. I speak from experience, a bad experience. Also, I don’t know if you have looked into oil finishes for the floors but if not do check into them. I will never finish my wood floors with anything else. They are great. We used the Rubio Monocoat system and love it! The oil hardens the wood which would probably help with your beautiful pine floors.

Thank you for sharing your ceiling.....I am so self-conscious about the mold or leak stains in my old home! I just do not have the time or funds to replace or repaint it now❤❤❤

Amen Angie, but we all know the beautiful videos are not for real !!! We started out with a farmstead all in, then we decided to scale back ! Way to much as a homeschool family! Kids have to get to activities etc! Life happens and let me say being authentic is very inspiring ❤ Love your humble motherhood , thanks for being sincere and normal 😊🙏🏻🇺🇸✝️

Ugh I APPRECIATE and respect you SO MUCH. As a newly engaged aspiring homemaker with a brand new home, you set a reasonable expectation and attainable goals for me🥰 I don’t have a homestead, but I have a home now! And I’m trying to learn how to cook, clean, maintain and honestly just survive on my own LOL. And Angie, I can’t tell you how much you have helped me to get excited about doing that!❤️💕❤️ but more importantly, doing it in a realistic way and not setting goals for myself that are in fantasy land. Fantasy goals are unattainable goals, they aren’t reachable and they create Shame which is the least effective emotion. Thank you for all that you do, we love you🥰 Also, sharing the difficult stuff isn’t complaining, imo. It’s just being real! Complaining is going on and on over and over about the same thing. Something you never do❤️

I love your videos! Especially when you keep it real. 😄 Here are my suggestions: for the kitchen, do the upper cabinets in white and the lower cabinets, a dark blue or green. For the living room area, white would be nice for the window frames, and I would paint the walls white or a light beige all the way to the ceiling. The room will look taller and brighter overall. Hope that helps! ❤

I would definitely save the wood. I think it’s worth having a specialist come out to do the window frames, door frames, cabinets, and floors.

White wood would look nice. I find that the cooler tone of the wall paint is exacerbating the orangy tone of the wood. A warmer wall paint might actually tone it down.

I think there is a difference between being considered a ‘farmfluencer’ and having everything aesthetic and having farm animals that are just pets. Then there is the reality of actually having animals and a farmstead. It’s not aesthetic. It’s expensive if they are just pets. It works for some, sure. If there is plan or money being made someway. But it’s not realistic that way and it’s expensive. Which isn’t really the purpose and intention of having a farm/farmstead/homestead.

I feel this in my old house soul 😂 we purchased a 100 year old home in town 6 years ago and have replaced or fixed everything from the foundation to the roof. Now we are moving back on acreage in the country. We are building a smaller, newer home. I dont care about the character anymore haha

You are so right about the imaginary world of homesteading, its a illusion, cause its a lot of work, costs a lot of money and it's never ending! LOL

We live on an acreage. We are currently living in a hotel while the house is repaired and the septic is replaced because we aren't on city sewage. We literally had a house of 💩. The walls and floors had to be replaced.
