You can also buffer your charge attack by holding your attack button, then proceeding to lock-on to an enemy. In the past, the charge attack has got a bad rep because it doesn't get i-frames, uses up a lot of yang and it's effectiveness is dependent on if the enemy(ies) stays put. It's not meant to be used in every instance. It's good in small spaces, penetrates through guarding enemies and makes for a good tate finisher in later stages. I think it would have benefited from i-frames, so I'm in agreeance there. In Nighrshade, it's so much more streamlined and less of a calculated risk in doing. Not difficult to one shot nearly all the bosses with it.
No, I disagree with you, about the charge slash. I discovered one thing, is that most players did not know how to use the charge slash, and they think that Moritsune and Hotsuma were the same(due to their fighting styles were identical), but they are not. Akujiki's power meter dropped faster when you used Moritsune, so if you wanted to use the charge slash, you needed to calculate the risk. Usually, with Moritsune, you could only use the charge slash twice, because Akujiki drained itself so fast, that it could drain your life even faster. But with Hotsuma, you could use it up to 4 times, because Akujiki dropped a lot slower. And, it never depended on the enemies staying put. It depended on WHICH CHARACTER that you were using. With Hotsuma, you could use charge slash more than Moritsune, but you sword power would need to be "spammed"(Like dash + slash many times in the back of the enemies), if you used Hotsuma to play in Super mode. For Moritsune, his blade attacks cut deeper. So, even if he did not use charge slash, his attack power more than makes up for it. Most players I have watched, are average players. Of course they are gonna say s*** like "The Charge slash is useless", because they can't even get the A rank in the game, let alone S rank. Channels like B.Strider finished the game 100% with S rank(On Super mode, the hardest difficulty by the way. Not to mention, B.Strider completed the game without taking any damage), and they used the charge slash very efficient.
@@TheBanbanGames The charge slash frame(or animation) in shinobi was cut short. If I see it correctly, the frames for the charge slash were supposed to be 4 frames. But they made it look like it only had 2 frames. In Nightshade, though, the frames for the charge slash were shown very clear for Hibana and Hisui. They weren't cut.
In this game there's a back stab effect. If you hit an enemy in the back (certain enemies doesn't have), you can make more damage. That's very useful with the Ninpo of fire. Also Charge attack it's more efficient if you hit the enemy in the end of that skill, because you can deal multilple hits. Nightshade's Hotsuma is even more efficient. You can combine Tate with Charge Attack, that's the key to kill harder foes and bosses.
