    Its nice to have those step drop offs at the shore that let you beach with a 3ft(?) draft. I'm in SFL with a 1.5' draft and have to stop about 100 yards offshore or run aground.

    • @odysseyofjason
      @odysseyofjason  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, up here in the hills, there's still a lot of nice spots I can't get to without the dinghy. Even then, I'll drop an anchor and run a stern line to a tree. I can go back and forth on the dinghy hand walking along the line.

It is great to see you and the misses are doing well. It is funny how I can relate to being completely content sailing along at a couple of knots when just like you I have lived on the edge on two wheels at high enough speeds to scare most sensible people! Now for that Jackwagon who spooled your line, you've got to get a name or video clip so your fans can go hunt him down and do a drive by shooting with our Super Soakers and Nerf Bazookas! lol Thanks for taking us along Buddy!

    Thanks for the video. I'm considering buying a Catalina 22 and am studying how to add a bimini. I see that yours sits on the jib traveler track. Do you find that this keeps you sometimes from being able to put the jib traveler where you'd like it? Is there anything you'd do differently if you could snap your fingers and have a different bimini configuration? Thanks!

    • @odysseyofjason
      @odysseyofjason  ปีที่แล้ว

      I like it on the track because It's all the way at the outer edge and I can adjust it fore and aft. My biggest head sail is 135% so I never need to set my traveler that far back.

      @@odysseyofjason Thanks. I decided I'd need to make my own cars, as the closest I've found to compatible cars are ones Catalina Direct sells. They say that they don't work with the "older" 22s with 15/16" tracks, though, and that's the track on my 1981 22. Any chance you know the width of your bimini? My jib tracks are ~85.5" apart, but it seems that every seller of biminis has the same set of widths, two of which are 79-84" and 85-90". The wider of these is the better fit, apparently, but I'd expect that wider also means needing to put it farther forward to avoid the boom/mainsheet. Thanks!

    • @odysseyofjason
      @odysseyofjason  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@EricCarden My tracks are about 86 too. I got the wider one because my old Bimini was narrower and it made it difficult to go forward while the Bimini was up. The wider one leaves enough room to squeeze through. Here’s a link to a pic of my wood adapter on insta: instagram.com/p/CrWy4e0Li4f/?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y=
