I have never been so insulted by a government. I will not speak for others but I worked frontline every day of the pandemic. I was covering colleagues who were dropping like flies with covid. Never got a break to the point I had to be signed off with stress for the first time in my working career of 30 years. There were no bonuses, I think we got a mug. I didn't even bother to collect mine. I worked tirelessly to also help my partner keep their own restaurant going through the pandemic. I have now been told the hours I accrued in leave I couldn't take are now forfeited. The energy Bill's are gonna send my other halfs restaurant into the ground.
We are now being slaughtered by fat cats and this government is holding the gate open and sharpening the axes.
If I hear her say that they have capped leccy and gas again I'll go mad. As others have said it is cancelled out by the interest rate rise.
0 hour contracts, very little remuneration for staff from companies taking in millions. Lucky if they get basic wage. Appalling hours and working conditions.
About time the British Public told the government to stick it, never have I felt so much resentment for a government.

    • @mastiffsal8185

I met a young nurse during the pandemic who had just had a friend, a 22 year old nurse, commit suicide in work due to the stress. It didn't even make the papers. THAT'S how much our nurses are cherished! The girl I met was walking her dogs for the last time in she knew not when. They would be staying at her parents and she couldn't visit and had no idea when she'd get time off.

@@andrewamidala I worked in a care home, my bosses got us PPE and made wearing it mandatory weeks before the government even acknowledged the pandemic. Locked down the home. We thought it was a gross overreaction at the time, but NOT A SINGLE resident died, and we only had a couple of positives (returned from hospital). Staff went down like ninepins at times but we got through and bosses gave us a reward as a thank you.
Heartbreaking having to isolate people with dementia, returning from hospital, and talking to those wondering why they haven't had a visit (I said there's a bug going around and they don't want to pass it on to them, or that they've gone away for a holiday).
I was lucky. A neighbour who worked in a local nursing home told me early on in the emergency that she had lost another resident that day, the 13th in the home. I can't imagine what that is like, carers form bonds with their clients, even friendships.

Sick of hearing her say how she's 'helped' us out with electricity bills (for the remaining 2 winters of Conservative government before the next election - not incidental) by forcing us to take out a loan instead of capping the profits of the energy companies with a windfall tax. One thing people forget is that we don’t pay the bankers bonuses. There was a cap put in place that prevented banks from paying there employees above a certain percentage of bonus. By removing it, all it means is that individual banks like Goldman sachs can now decide whether they want to pay their bankers more or not. Either way we aren’t paying for their bonuses and more bonuses for them = more tax returns that’s all. People should be focused on other stuff rather than ranting on about a bankers bonus which doesn’t affect us

Absolutely pathetic from Truss. First of all Labour did not support a reduction in National Insurance, they supported the reversal of a increase that had been implemented by this Tory Government. Secondly the emergency measures to cap energy prices is no more than a massive bung to the energy companies, using money borrowed on behalf of taxpayers. Without these measures the energy companies would be facing a catastrophic avalanche of people, either refusing or defaulting on their energy bill leading, possibly, to the financial collapse of some energy companies .This way the taxpayer picks up the bill, plus interest while protecting the massive profits of the energy companies. The fact is that even with Government support people are still facing massive increases in energy costs. How anyone can applaud themselves for this is beyond belief.
The discussion that needs to take place in Parliament, but is being avoided, is the continued and increasing cost of supporting a US led proxy war in Ukraine and sanctions, imposed by the UK, US and other European countries. The decision to declare an economic war against Russia has spectacularly backfired, causing a huge increase in energy and food prices. This also is moving us ever closer to an escalation with disastrous implications for all humanity. The Labour leadership is offering no alternative and is just towing the Government line, as it did during the covid crisis.

So so unhappy with this government. I find this an abhorrent hellish government who has no idea what most of us are going through. I am literally scared to death and not sleeping nor coping well with this.
My wife is permanently at home and extremely poorly and cannot work. My youngest son is at high school and even he comes to me worried about how we as a nation can afford to live. For a young boy he is worried about “my” welfare as he can see how stressed i am. When the mortgage rates go up we will be losing our home at this rate… I have always paid my way in life and pay my taxes… now i am having my families life taken from them… This is not right on so many levels.
My mental health is suffering and so is my youngest sons… again this is not right.
I used to vote. conservative … but in the last 15 years have been voting labour as they appear to be slightly kinder to the population.
Not all, but most of the tries are so detached and removed from us…. There is another agenda going on here.. over control of peoples finances, forcing people en-mass to be begging for help from the government… this is how total society control starts, slowly making everyone completely dependent on the government for a normal life as they are panic stricken into submission.
I have never felt so strongly and I hate the way i am thinking, but it just makes no sense……. Unless Putin is in on this so-called world order, I believe its just an excuse for a terrible disassociated government.
