      British politics has always had an air of theatre about it, given its adversarial nature.

    • @randyjones3050
      @randyjones3050 ปีที่แล้ว +245

      A big difference is that the Congress was originally envisioned as being a collegial body and not adversarial. That's why the House and Senate chambers are semi-circle shaped and not a bench design as in the U.K. Parliament. The intention was to encourage deliberative discussion rather than screaming matches between different party factions. Many of the framers of the U.S. constitution had a distaste for party politics and wanted to avoid bitter partisanship in government. Unfortunately, reality turned out much different than the original vision. However, that original seed of collegiality is still baked into the culture of the Congress which is why their debates are generally much more restrained than debates in governments with parliamentary systems.

The government has to come in and provide more money. Now if the TfL goes bust, we lose billions. They are not workers in the sense you believe but have put us in a very tough position.
