That's my dad folding the anset flag. The one on the left. I unfortunately lost him in early 2015. Because of him, my mum and our love of aviation, I now work for Qantas in Perth. Thank you for uploading this. I never thought I would get to see a video of my dad again.
Hi Blake, thanks very much for your kind words. I am sorry to hear of his passing. Truly a very sad day in Australian Aviation History.
Time stamp?
It’s awesome you got to see your dad again :-)
It a sad day of Ansett Australia Airlines in 2002 rip
oh man i flew ansett alot as a kid i was born in 1988. flew perth to melbourne to see my dad every year such great memories with ansett
I still mourn the loss of over a million FFF points, my lifetime Golden Wing membership, and the brutal way Air New Zealand sacrificed Ansett to save itself. Qantas also shares blame, having blocked Singapore Airlines from taking it over, which would have been an ideal solution with a Star Alliance partner. Alas ...
Qantas didn't block Singapore Airlines from taking over Ansett, what are you talking about? SQ was outbid by AirNZ, and was forced to buy into AirNZ instead. In fact, in 2000, QF floated the idea of SQ getting all of AN if SQ sold its NZ shares to QF - the idea being a combined QF/NZ battling against a combined SQ/AN, but SQ declined the deal and instead bought more of AirNZ.
I remember the government blocked the sale in favor of Air New Zealand.
the seven star in ansetts logo reminds me of maersk air
