3.5mm cables are a great solution for quality audio applications. These cables are used on many of today's electronic devices such as PC's, MP3 players, mobile devices and televisions. PCs always have Stereo jacks and not the 4 conductor jack. So when a 4 conductor Headset is connected to the PC Mic Stereo jack the Ground+Mic are joined to Ground of PC and so the Mic in Headset would not work. However the Earphones of the Headset will be connected to the internal PC Mic Stereo and so will act as bad microphones.
Laptops use 4 conductor jacks to minimize space, so there it works fine. Even the latest PCs do.

Is there any converter that converts a 5 pole to a four conducter? I have a Sony which has a 5 pole audio jack and cant play well with my Phone.
