14:17 this clip from Bernie and the interview with Lewis after is fascinating. Seems like Lewis came in as a rookie, naive to all the politics going on, and got really burnt by everything. The rest of his time at McLaren and how insular his career has been makes sense with this as the context. Would love for him to write about this in a book after he retires!
Lewis was no saint himself. He was in on this scandal too, and intentionally leaked simulation data in 2012 to force a move to Mercedes. Criticise him and he plays the race card.
@@McLMP4-22Highly doubt he threw himself under a truck when soon publishing. My genuine guess is that some Italians got to him. Makes no sense that he’d off himself when about to release a book that could potentially PARTIALLY clear his name and clear a few things up from behind the scenes.

Given how influential Ferrari has been on Italian culture it wouldn’t surprise me if they could hire some “professionals” to “take care” of Stepney before he published that book, and sweep it under the rug. I also heard that until Mosley, Dennis, and Ecclestone have passed away the full truth behind the scandal won’t be made public, which means what we know about the whole mess is only the tip of the iceberg. Mosley is gone, but as of right now Ecclestone and Dennis are still alive.
@@aadithyaawali7484 No Max cheated his way to a championship. The Reports findings prove that there was human error involved and an admission that the rules were not applied correctly. Masi and the FIA really dropped the ball on this one.

Alonso had nothing to do with it, did you not watch the docco. Teams change set up on info gained from other teams all the time, stealing the info is a different matter. Alonso was a minor player who happened to be there. Hamilton won a wdc based on stolen info.

Remember, Renault were also found guilty of the same thing later that year but escaped punishment.

Stepney threw himself under a truck on the A20 in 2014. He took a lot of answers to questions to his grave.
He was about to publish a tell-all book about the scandal called “Red Mist”, but before he could find a publisher he did what he did.
