    Korean skincare saved my skin omg. And it wasn’t necessarily the products themselves but moreso the philosophy?? I feel like western skincare is like “acne?? DRY IT OUT!! SCRUB YOUR PIMPLES AWAY!!” Whereas Asian beauty focuses more on moisture and being gentle. I wish I knew that when I was a teen :’(

    • @lotussight
      @lotussight 4 ปีที่แล้ว +27

      Yep, I'm Asian and literally clinique, simple and si many other skincare based brands in the west fail me. I actually had a full allergic reaction a few days ago because if the Simple eye makeup remover and hives broke out it was all over my body :( The clinique cleanser broke my face out so bad like... I've never had acne before but I ended yp getting spots and scars from them just from using the clinique cleanser.
      Then I dived into kbeauty through a friend and a month later my skin is back to normal and it didn't cost me an arm or a leg either!

      lotus sight All over your body??? Omg that’s terrible!! As a teenager, I used that Neutrogena Grapefruit wash and it destroyed my skin. Acne and dry patches and peeling skin that would hurt and I wish I could go back and tell that kid to be smarter about products. I’m glad we’re finding things that are finally doing some good for us!

    • @honeydew661

      I tried american acne stuff and it did nothing but flake my skin off :/ i think years later thats why my skin is on the drier side. If only i had known then what i do now. Dermatologist helped me, but now i have a different sensibility and am very gentle with my skin. I use fragrance free face wash from cetphil and for makeup i use an oil cleanser from dhc. I have no idea how i scrubbed my skin like i did in the past. Definitely my skin isn’t perfect but im not tearing it up my skin like all those awful neutrogena products do

      Yeah, korean skincare is worlds ahead of western beauty brands. In fact some of the most popular korean skincare brands aren’t known to most westerners (my skincare consists of su:m) it’s really hard to find korean skincare retailers unless your in an area with an asian market

    • @EmiIy7662

      Had exactly the same experience, I had horrible hormonal acné and went to tons of dermatologists who would prescribe me scrubs, peeling gels and acids to dry out the skin and get rid of the acné. Afterwards I had horrible red raw and irritated skin which burned if I touched it with my fingers, acné kept coming and the scars were there to stay. I was done with treatments and then I stumbled across Liah Yoo here on youtube who recommended linoleic acid oils (I use grapeseed oils) and korean products, those SAVED my skin!

It started in 2018 & I use the same products I have used since 2002 & have tried MANY others so it's not the products cause why would wearing ONLY mascara cause that... just saying- rant over!

      Cowgirl Kat have you thought about how your environment might have changed when it started? Pentagon of leader There are darker, and black, people in South Korea. Not making products for all the shades and undertones of people isn’t right, albeit that the generalized perception of that Korean “look” is always pale.

    • @guanabanaboba
      @guanabanaboba 4 ปีที่แล้ว +25

      @@sknight2810 No they don't. Tan Koreans don't have their shade since complexion lines typically go to three shades. If they are a Korean brand, selling in Korea, they should be making shades for all Koreans.
      A lot of brands also sell their products in South East Asian countries where there are people with an even wider complexions range yet they expect their consumers to stick with three Casper ghostly shades. Until they have complexion products with ranges that cater to their audience, they are not doing well.

    • @whatever.1765
      @whatever.1765 4 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Pentagon of leader most Koreans can’t find their own shade. Myself I’m very light, but a lot of my friends aren’t and it’s so annoying that they can’t find their shades without getting foreign brands.

      Ari Yumeno well that sucks. I get allergy eyes, you know the watering and what not. It doesn’t run on me but it could be that a usually blot my eyes when it happens so I don’t give it time. I’m going to have to try letting it go instead and see if it runs. It never transfers on my upper lid area or in my crease which is my main issue with liners. But I so need to see if it smudges now. Thank you for telling me. This might mean I carry tissues everywhere now.

    3:29. I highly recommend the Missha BB Cream...it’s just lovely on my skin and protects from the sun.
    I am Caucasian with a light-medium skintone, with neutral undertones, and I mix no. 27 (yellow based) with no. 21 (gray based) and it matches me perfectly. 21 tones down the yellow of 27 enough that it looks quite natural on me, I mix them 50/50. Also I have dry skin so it seems to suit all skin types.
    Hope this helps someone...

    I'm so excited I found you and your brother! It's so hard finding a TH-camr who loves and appreciates Asian beauty. I'm a huge Asian beauty junkie and have been using Korean and Japanese beauty products for many many years (always thought about having my own blog/Instagram). But I've never been able to find a western "beauty guru" who understands and loves Asian beauty like me, until I found you and your brother! All of the big beauty guru's on here diss it saying it's gimmicky, cheap, or poor quality. When in reality, Asian beauty is years ahead of western beauty (and western beauty get their inspiration/ideas from Asian beauty). I love that you and your brother have a passion and understanding for it, it literally brings joy to my heart. Asian beauty deserves so much more credit! Love all of those products and hope to see more Asian beauty videos like this!

    The Korean skincare routine techniques did magic to my skin! I used to have really acne-ridden skin, including huge, irritated, zits. I tried a trial kit of innisfree after reading about k-beauty in a skincare forum, and my zits healed and the redness calmed within weeks! My skin now actually has a glow, and the process of doing the routine is very calming and peaceful. I also use Korean and Japanese makeup trends because their focus on looking sweet and youthful suits my face shape and personality better than the more sexy and mature western look.

    YESSS. I thought I was gonna give up on watching beauty-related channels but here you are. A pro MUA who knows the real shit and talking about broader topics. A non-asian youtuber talking about good asian beauty products. I'm so sick of these other videos always promoting and doing tutorials for western makeup looks as if the world revolves around western beauty standards. Why does everything have to be so... pigmented?
    Pony was my first ever makeup/skincare inspo. Watched her "tutorials" waayyy back in 2012 when she was still doing her shows in Channel V. And hell I feel that her way of doing makeup is gold standard. So much love for the skin and makeup without all the cakey makeup BS.
