    I just burned the release image last night, and booted it up before i went to bed. It booted, but I was inevitably going to run into problems... glad i watched this before I got started for real!

    You can add the wifi networking and location settings in the Raspberry imager under tools or ctrl+shift+x (I think). No need to get into raspi-config afterward.

    actually you can, use the base rpi repositories and patch your way up, you will not require any expertise on linux kernel the scripts and patches on pilfs will setup everything and update anything to make a base image ready. tune it up and install the frontend of your preference

    • @BytesNBits
      @BytesNBits  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi. From what I've seen it all fits nicely inside that case. If you overclock keep an eye on temperature. I don't know if you can fit any cooling into that case.

  • @piratescove4301

    Neat but here is the million dollar question! Could we possibly do the same with an image for pi3b+ of emulation station, recalbox and batocera?

    • @BytesNBits
      @BytesNBits  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi. I tried the 3B+ version of Batocera. It doesn't work. I guess we'll just have to wait for that one. I haven't tried Recalbox. Emulation Station is used by Retropie so there must be a working version.

      I haven't tried Dreamcast on the Zero 2W. I've seen a couple of people having a go and I don't think it's going to work very well. Maybe some games will be playable. Have a go!

    I have followed all your instructions and once I get to the overscan part I reboot and it crashes about 7/10 of the time ( I haven't tried overclocking yet btw) And my screen is being cut off (the text is out of the screen) I am on a Samsung tv.

    • @BytesNBits
      @BytesNBits  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi. Did you do a full update? Did you turn off overscan through the raspi-config route or did you edit the config.txt file directly? It's strange that the text is off screen as well.

    • @jaxgavin
      @jaxgavin 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@BytesNBits yea I did a full update, and I also turned off overscan through raspi-config. I fixed the text problem but not the crashing problem. I will keep working on it, maybe I need to update again for some odd reason. 🤷‍♂️ Thanks 🙏

    Do you think pi zero 2 w is better than raspberry pi 3b+ in terms of processing power?

    • @BytesNBits
      @BytesNBits  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Using stock speeds no, but an overclocked Zero 2 will at least match the stock 3B+, probably a bit faster as long as the 512MB memory doesn't become a factor. Great if you need the smaller form factor but you will need to take temperature control into account.

      One thing that I found the pi zero 2 w size is a trade off of an USB hub.
      Taking away the USB ports from a raspberry pi 3 or 4 becomes a pi zero.

  • @bbblop4545
    @bbblop4545 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    It doesn't work anymore. The images up there are like 500kb each and if I try to flash them to the card it won't boot. And the latest official Raspberry Pi 2/3 version you can get off the retropie website can't detect the raspberry pi zero 2's wifi hardware.

    • @BytesNBits
      @BytesNBits  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It looks like the Retropie image builder is not working at the moment

    I've got the latest 2_3 image installed and updated, running smooth with the overclock. My only issue is when connecting my wired xbox 360 pad to the micro usb adapter, the pad freezes after a second. I've tried re-installing xpad and resetting the input devices in emulation station and still the issue remains. I can't seem to find any solution to this online.

    • @BytesNBits

    hello, i recently stumbled upon zram, which effectively helps you sacrifice some cpu time for added ram. do you have experience with it, would it work great on top of an overclock, and most of all, is the extra ram helpful in pre-ps 1 emulation? thank you for the videos, regards

    • @BytesNBits
      @BytesNBits  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      To be honest I haven't tried it. The lower end consoles probably won't get any benefit as it only comes in to play when the emulator runs out of real RAM, but perhaps something like the PS1 emulator might use it. I made a video on overclocking which shows you how to measure performance. If you had a go with zram it would be great to see what results you get.

      Hi. Did you add in the overclocking settings. If yes then it's probably crashed your Raspberry Pi. Take the SD card out and put it into your PC. You'll find it appears as 2 disk drives. Open the one labelled boot and you'll find the config.txt file in there. Use a text editor, e.g. notepad, to edit it and take out the overclock settings. The system should now work. You can then go back and try a lower arm_freq setting if you want.

      @BytesNBits  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi. I'm not sure why you're getting this problem. What core are you using? Does it match your ROM set? If the ROM files are zipped the system has to unpack them first. Check your zip files are not overly large. They should only contain a few roms in each.

    • @jerseyarcade3788

      @@jerseyarcade3788 Hi. You're probably right. The drop down from Pi Zero 2 to 1 is quite considerable is some circumstances.
