    Nice! I didn't realise that the zero 2 can be powered from the data USB connection.

    I think the 500 500 900 distribution is more of a how the power would be diverted if you had multiple plugged in devices, when you plug one device in, it might be drawing more amperage from that single port, and you really need to use a meter on it to know for sure if in fact the pi will boot from 500 m. That being said, I was super excited as my pi 3b+ died on me I was able to grab 2 of these zero 2 w from the store, still waiting for my mini hdmi to hdmi adapter from the slow delivery option, although I could swear I had a cable with a mini hdmi
    ... mysterious nowhere to be found. Very excited to see you have retropie working on it.

      I got one of those babies off AliExpress - it's nice & even designed in a way that avoids "half keys" at the fold but despite buying one w an Apple layout, my muscle memory seems to be stuck to the Apple BT keyboard. I'm gonna def give it another shot when my zero arrives in a few days!

    I did this with a Pi3 too and although it nagged about inufficient power I was able to do what I wanted on the device, including browsing, emailing, office software and acceptable youtube playback. The usb connection on my tv did not have enough power to boot a Pi4 or a Rock Pi X.

    Its worth checking out VNC, I use it to control my main Pi and can be done from anywhere in the world without setting up any port forwarding thus cutting down on security risks on your home network

      VNC is a protocol, not a service. If you didn't require port-forwarding, we don't know which service that is if you don't tell us!

    I dunno if you have a bench power supply or not, they pretty handy for showing the current draw. The pi on its own draws very little I know its about 300 ma on a 3a+.

    • @udance4ever

      then why is there so much ruckus about using the "official" 2.5A power supply to avoid problems?

    Hey lee can you try minecraft on a raspberry pi 02?
    You will need to overclock it a bit to get decent performance
    I get 1570 fps in glxgears
    And 170 fps in minecraft
    With these overclock settings
    arm_freq=1300
    gpu_freq=550
    sdram_freq=750
    gpu_mem=64
    over_voltage=14
    over_voltage_sdram=14
    force_turbo=1
    Warning
    This overclock has really high voltages (which i think could be lowered a little) so please use this at your own risk
    Oh and sidenote
    I have no clue if other pi’s can do the same as it took me a while to make my 02 get this stable (OS wise) seems like the gpu driver has issues and it causes the pi to hang up even at stock speeds
    I also get some cursor corruptions if i move the mouse too fast (again stock speeds)
    There seems to be a firmware update that includes some files that you need to put in your boot partition
    That seems to have made my pi more stable
    (I can’t give links because i think you know what happens if i do :P sorry)

    Hi I got a pi zero 2w some time back. But could never get the pi OS install app ( Imager ) to work on my laptop, the latop OS is ubuntu 18.4, Imager installed but could not write to my internal sd card reader writer even though it worked OK !. Every time when trying to write to my SD card, Imager reported - sd card not found. So my pi zero 2w sits in its box unused.

      So I got one and I have a USB multimeter and with a hub and one thumb drive (for terminal copy and pasting commands because It cannot handle Chromium, not even the new 64bit official, running Pi-hole off SD card) attached and it pulls no more than .5amps. Even when it is maxed out (with no overclocking) trying to load the browser.
      I should try a faster SD card because it, barely, passes the test but all I got for $15.00 us and $10.00 for the case was a faster DNS server.
