Orange over gold. The gold is a bit dirty looking. Also the new 32’s were to be seen at the Worlds xcm last year with Andrew L’Esperance and Hayley Smith running them.

1:45 Engineer here 🧑‍🔧 it's most likely not AI generated. The Fox engineers probably used topology optimization. This is a tool/technique based on the FEA (finite element analysis), where small pieces of material are removed from the original part to reduce weight, but still withstand the occuring loads. This leads to the fancy shapes of the parts.

First thing that sprung to mind was "oh they're going fancy using topology optimisation" and when the said AI I was like nah, this is the marketing people talking there's no way the designers would say this is AI.

As for the question of fork adjustability, personally I've always thought that compression damping is a bit rubbish really. Because essentially the size of the internals of forks is pretty small in dimensions and the results of squeezing oil through and playing with the speed that happens at, generally seems to crush the sensitivity of the fork and any beneficial effects are rather pointless if the fork isn't tracking the ground and actually damping the transmission of shock to the rider. I've personally found that a simple open bath fork with rebound damping only, adjusted only by adding or removing oil from the oil bath and playing with the weight of the oil has always produced the best results for me personally. I will add that I'm no hardcore rider, but I am a mechanic. My favourite fork of all time, because of the awesome upgrade it was at the time was the Fox 32 Vanilla R. Now that's as simple as a fork can be but wow was it responsive, and the damper worked amazingly, going from a 120mm air fork to the 140mm coil vanilla improved my riding massively. So yeah I'm not really sold on these highly adjustable, massively expensive dampers to be honest, I'd rather the research went into improved durability and longevity.

    • @anthonyvizzo1456

Wide open can feel great at times but it can wallow in corners and feel harsher on larger hits even where you don't bottom. You kind of bounce off the air spring instead of blowing off some of that momentum on the way down.

    • @Ferrari255GTO
      @Ferrari255GTO 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

@@anthonyvizzo1456 I haven't gotten the chance to experience what you mean since i've not yet had forks at full performance (in short, first bike had a blown fork and on my current one i'll replace the old ones for the chance to run mullet and get damping adjustment since the ones on this one are kinda dead), but i feel like that's a non-issue for casual riders who just wanna have fun where comfort is peak just below versatility.

All this suspension technology is baffling. My set up on my last four bikes has been, air pressure middle what manufacturer recommend, all the dials i count how many clicks and set them all to the middle, both front and rear. Then i never touch them again. 🤣

Hear me out: open the compression a bit and increase air pressure to compensate, it'll feel smoother and still resist on jumps and stuff. You can have a lot of fun tryng stuff, and it's all in reach of your hands, there's not really much of a reason not to do it imo

This is this thing I see everywhere. People buy the latest trendy fork and ride. Then some try my fork and say: wow! it works amazing! Can't be bothered researching, as every time I have tinkered, I either blow through the travel or wash out in flat corners. GRIP X2 damper, FOX have moved away from
their previous VVC system (Variable Valve Control) for
the compression adjuster, which was only introduced a
few years ago with the GRIP2 damper
The Variable Valve Control in the compression stage
primarily influences the high-speed setting. VVC uses a
leaf spring which presses against an ovalized track on a
cover at the top of the shim stack. As you turn the HSC
knob, the spring rotates from the widest to the
narrowest part of the oval, increasing the spring rate in
the process, leading to a progressive increase ir
damping force without a corresponding increase in
breakaway force. In theory, this allows you to increase
big-hit resistance without losing sensitivity, offering a
wider range of adjustment with only 7 shims in the
stack, without the need to open up the fork to replace
    shims.
Furthermore, FOX updated the base valve through
which the piston rod displaces the oil - this has grown
from 20 mm to 24 mm in diameter. This allows the
actual shims to regulate the oil flow better, and thus to
increase adjustability. FOX still rely on the VVC system
    for the rebound damping, however.
The new 2025 FOX GRIP X2 damper allows for the
    following adjustments:
    Low-Speed Compression (LSC): 18 clicks
    High-Speed Compression (HSC): 8 clicks
    Low-Speed Rebound (LSR): 16 clicks
    High-Speed Rebound (HSR): 8 clicks
Of course, you can still add volume spacers to the
positive air chamber, and FOX also retained the bleed
ports on the back of the lowers, which allow you to
equalise the pressure inside the fork with atmospheric changes

Hi guys, great show as always. With regards to the new Fox Dampers, personally I think they should sort out there assembly issues before anything else. The excess grease issue is widespread. If I didn't know about it I would have rejected my Fox 38s as they were shocking brand new, and I couldn't tune them at all. Once they were stripped and cleaned they are like butter, but this should not need to be done on a brand new £1000 fork!

Regarding cost for the updated Forbidden bike vs The Atherton bike from last week that I'm sure the "thoughts on pricing" thing was about:
The Forbidden bike isn't claiming to be affordable.
    It's carbon.
Compare the build kits. The Forbidden's build kit is pretty good straight out of the gate.
I don't think people were complaining about "the pricing" per se. They were complaining about the attempts to normalize a $5000 USD bike as "affordable."
It's not. That word has never meant whatever a $5000 bike is. It might be an awesome bike very much worthy of that $5000 price tag but it's not "affordable" and to participate in attempting to shift the mindset to view that $5000 price tag as "affordable" is irresponsible.

However, the Sram system from riders reports in use has gone down well.
Back to the Fox forks, since owning my Atherton AM.130 I've move from nil fork set up knowledge to being a suspension nerd and loving keeping the ride log details etc.

From my armchair, what I've been reading and seeing in reviews is the Rock Shox unit is easier to adjust compared to an equivalent Fox. Also, Rock Shox Buttercups deal with the rough, small, juddering bumps with a bit more supple damping compared to Fox.
So it's an educated guess that Fox have decided to simplify adjustment/controls and add some supple bump damping into their 36.
Anyone else have the same thoughts?

The challenge will be, as a result of AI, how to ensure that your product is unique and noticeable in a world where every single design will be optimised by AI, surely resulting in identical solutions and products.
Surely AI will only ever reach one solution to the parameters we tell it to process right?
Surely there is only one way to make something optimally and no two AI systems will arrive at different solutions, as there's only one correct way to do it?
The world is going to look very different in 100 years from now that's for sure.
