I'm not too picky about audio quality myself, but I'm also super glad he fixed it because I have no hearing in my left ear, so I thought I might be stuck wearing my headphones backwards in order to hear the commentary. I was pleasantly surprised that he fixed it so quickly.
"Survivor Man" was always my "go to" each week to relieve the stress of work while I was in the Army. Now it is my escape from the civilian sector and reminds me of all of my adventures in the Colorado Mountains or when stationed overseas. Les Stroud is a well-known name in our household!!! Thank you Les for being there each week and even now during these challenging times. At the end of the day it all boils down to survival and our ability as an individual to prepare & recognize those scenarios that call for learned useful skills.
We loved you repeating the same survival information over again. I made the whole series feel complete and really showed the importance in the information you were sharing.
Les, I’m not sure if you read these, but if you do know that you are an absolute legend and a gift to humanity for posting these to TH-cam. Especially with what’s going on right now, truly an inspiration.
Praying for morning...hahaha. I know to well that feeling!!! Praying for the sun, waiting for hours, watching the sky as it starts to subtly shift, thinking its your imagination, seeing it get a tad lighter, noticing that you can start to see things, begging for it to happen faster, finally the sun breaks the horizon, then anticipating its warmth, finally feeling it. You can't appreciate being defrosted until you've been frozen!!!
Colorado Native here. I love man. Thank you for this, it is just what we need during these times. I loved your show as a kid, and now I have a great appreciation for it as a young adult. You are an inspiration Les.
Totally late to the initial comment onslaught, but I have to say Les the reason you always stood out, is because how genuine you were and honest. You showed the human side of survival, and didn't pretend to be the extreme human sideshow. You showed things don't always work out as planned and knowing how to deal with failure in a survival situation is very important psychologically especially while alone. Not to mention the stunning landscapes you double trekked to show and share with us to say, hey a real world exists outside your front door. Keep up the stunning work!
Thank you Les for continuing to put out great content during this odd time in history. I have nothing but tremendous respect for you as a film maker, teacher, and bush man. Please keep these up! Such a nice look behind the scenes at a show I must have watched every episode of at least 5 times.
You need to do directors commentary on some of your bigfoot episodes. Would be pretty cool to hear more of your thoughts on the subject matter. Watching all your director cut episodes brings much nostalgia. Thank you for bringing us awsome content during this stay at home mandate.
I remember watching all these shows. I had my dvr ready for every one of them, and I couldn't get enough. Now re-watching them with the Directors commentary. I get the same thrill as when they first came out. THANK YOU Les for all of these. Can't wait for more.
Love the way you stop and enjoy nature taking place at the time. I'm always doing it with my wife. I can't tell you how many times I've almost gone off the road looking at creatures of nature. Love to go camping with you. Be safe and take care Les.
I always loved the episode in I think the Australian Outback, where you were on that creek catching "yah-bees" the little crawfish, and the witchity grubs out of those weird trees. Anyways you are awesome Les.
Thank You! I don't know if you did the Colorado episode because of my comment about the horses or not, but just incase, thank you! I loved it, so did the kids. It's so cool how comfortable you are saying your not a horseman. You are a true role model for young men. Not afraid to not know everything, show emotion, even love on baby birds and still be a true tough guy. And yes, on the end, you do look very cool on the horse 🐎!
Les my favourite part of Survivorman was when you would lay out the food and actually show yourself eating it. I would get so disappointed when you would catch something and the edits would skip over it. If you ever continue to make Survivorman specials, please keep those shots. There's a reason that Cook Islands episode is my favourite
I’m a very new fan (like, I just started binging your videos TODAY) and I just wanted to say thank you for genuinely caring about the world around you and wanting to share knowledge and wisdom with other folks. We’re all in this life together and communicating our different experiences is vital.
That "you sweat, you die" comment with that look with the "dont panic" phrase before that made me realize exactly why those 2 things are embedded into my head when I go out on trips and camping out in remote areas for fishing. Years growing up to Les Stroud with years passed created embedded habits and phrases. Thank you Les.
Most people aren't going to "get" this comment, but I absolutely love how at the end of the video you lean forward and readjust the camera (and I don't know if you were totally aware and did this on purpose or if you're just so much of a pro videographer that you did from pure muscle memory, subconsciously) and perfectly frame yourself in the right third of the shot. Any body that went to film school (I didn't) will know what I'm talking about. You sir, are a true pro.
Another great and relaxing commentary from one of my favorite episodes. I was in my early adolescence and teens or so when watching this over and over. Some of the best television out there that there was.
THIS WASVAWESOME!!! As a fan of your cable TV show your analysis and walk through was really double as interesting and compelling as the original show. LES, YOU SHOULD TAKE THIS TH-cam format to the Studios and IT WILL SELL ITSELF, bc there's so much you add and fill it makes it amazing!
I grew up watching Survivor Man. And I'd go out in the woods next to my house and pretend I'm Les Stroud. My favorite parts of all the episodes is when you have a nice fire and you get to cook a meal. Love it
Thanks so much for putting these up!! You’re the grown-up reality of our favorite childhood books like ‘My Side of the Mountain’ and ‘Hatchet’! All the best! 💚💚
Oh man the sound quality improvement at the beginning when you fixed the channels was such a relief. Gosh i love how insightful these commentaries are. Thanks for another great video!
Funny, the first thing i did was switch the audio to mono because Les was only on the left channel. But since Les is a true pro, he saw the problem within a minute and fixed it. Thanks again Les, another great commentary!
For many years I watched and deeply enjoyed your series... but I gotta tell ya... reliving these shows again with your commentaries is awesome! Good thinking! Ty!
This is a timely distraction! Have learned so much over the years from watching Survivorman. Would love to see a director's commentary to the episodes for the Amazon, Costa Rica, Lost at Sea, Cook Islands, Papua New guinea to name a few.
This episode is one of your best. I really enjoyed watching it. Now that Colorado allows MJ I've convinced myself to move there . . . at some point in my life. Really appreciate what you're doing. It helps immensely.
Was just watching the latest DC you did Les, and once that was finished I was like, man I enjoy these almost as much as the original episodes, let me see if I can find any I may have missed... so I looked up your playlists for the DC's, and saw 57! 57 already!? How in the heck has enough time already elapsed for you to have done 57 DC's on your episodes over the year? Incredible how time flies! Anywho, I already found this one that I hadn't yet "liked" so I must've missed this one... hoping I missed lots more because I enjoy them so much, would love to have them to look forward to!
I have always enjoyed the show. Thank you for posting your content for free!!! Very cool! I own a couple seasons so this is awesome. I would really love to see a Norwegian Mountain Survival director's commentary. Part 2 where your trying to get down the mountain is super intense and would love to hear more about it!!! Thanks again!
I really appreciate your years of putting in the work and your breakdown and analysis of everything. You're an inspiration to our day in age when everyone has their head buried in their phones and tablets. Thank you for sharing your experiences with us I truly appreciate it.
Thanks for these Les!! I grew up with Survivor Man so this is just great! Love seeing you and hearing more about the show and your thoughts. The Bigfoot one you just uploaded is especially interesting! 10/10 will be watching all of your uploads!
I enjoy the commentaries. I’m not a survivalist/rough kind of guy, but when I was in school finishing my economics major, I had to take a fly fishing class because nothing else fit my schedule. I’m smiling because I’m finally better at something outdoors than Les Stroud 😮🤣😂👀. I can actually do that 😂
Thank you Les for all of it. I've been sick the last couple days, couldn't hold food down or water etc. This morning I had a cinnamon bagel with cream cheese and dude, It was divine! I know you didn't have a toaster out there, but I felt your joy when eating that
Ok Les You rock. You say you are not a horseman. This episode took guts. Even seasoned horse people couldn’t do this the way you filmed it. On you own with no one to do what you had to do. I believe you should give yourself more credit. We are loving these Directors Commentary. Thank you so much for your great films.
Saw you in concert in Gatlinburg TN at Ole Smokey distillery. You and the group are great musicians. Thank you for the hours and hours of entertainment and survival ideas through the years.

i really appreciate these commentary's, i have at least watched one season every year since 2006 it's my favorite show of all time. all thanks to you :)
I never learned much, if anything from the other "survival" shows. This one...this I cherished every insight. Growing up waiting for this show to come on was on top of the list. I also rented the dvds constantly at the library. So relatable.
This was the episode that cemented the need for a metal cup in my gear EVERY time I leave the blacktop. Heck, I use a single wall steel water bottle for my every day carry bottle.
I’m so glad you put this commentary up because I remember this episode from when I was young but it is not available to watch on Amazon Prime. Thanks Les!!!
This was the best director's cut so far. Very interesting. I'm glad that you admitted about not knowing how to fly fish or deal with the horses, but you did a good job anyway.
Do more commentary off of all your Playlists ! Love them and would watch all.

Good show, Les! I used to watch Survivorman whenever I had the chance back in the day. It's great hearing you bringing this show back to life with the director's commentary feature on TH-cam. Long may it continue! I'll be here watching every single one!
One of my favorite shelters you’ve ever used on your show is how you used the tarp and the log to build the lean to. Each time I’m outside and use a tarp, my mind drifts back to this episode. The other thing I enjoy seeing is when to win the food race. Catching trout, even small ones is fun to watch your excitement. Skillet
Truly enjoy Survivorman series, but I must say, off topic but I have always found Les to be a handsome man.....makes it even better 🍂..Just had to say it!!!
I always enjoy your shows. I enjoy the content on TH-cam and on smtv. I have been living the same way. I just lack the funds, equipment and editing ability. I'm happy to see you and a few others doing it like you do. Thank you 😊
NICE! You're spot on. I'm approaching 70 and have a lifetime of experience. I was just munching on some glacier lilies the other day while out picking morels. I'm teaching my grand-kids. It's all important, as you say, to learn what water hemlock and the other poisonous plants are. We used to eat that watermelon snow (tastes like watermelon too) when we were kids. I don't remember getting sick. Pretty dumb, but that was our local knowledge. It's an algae I believe. Fishing is a great way to get food if you know what you're doing and if you can learn to throw a rock good enough to hit some of the dumber grouse we have, life is good.
I must say from the beginning I knew you are a musician by the opening title of every show and your harp blowing. And sure enough after your hiatus, you brought so much more richness to your films, with your commentaries. I am very pleased to watch you grow and add so much more to your legacy. I didn't know you could blow your harp like you do until I saw the Colorado Rockies edition. You are so good and I can't wait to start watching your band's films. I am really glad you do what you do and we all get the chance to experience it. Thank you for your teachings and for making our world a better place.
You need to do a "Survivorman reacts to Man vs Wild", that would be gold! It's what everyone would love to see
them canadians are too polite and good on em for it.
I’ve always liked survivorman much more
@@alienman2939 Les is the original! All other's are just copies!

He did it in his shows, but it was subtle. I don't think he needs to stoop to drinking his own urine...every time.

As an audio engineer bad sound drives me insane, especially when one channel doesn’t output. Thank you so much for caring about this.
I almost clicked away immediately because of the single channel audio.
I wish the episode audio was compressed with a sidechain from his commentary, but other than that, solid per usual
I didn't notice anything but then again I'm sort of sitting far away from my tv
Some youtubers I follow have lived by the phrase that bad audio is the one unforgivable sin..even as average person I'm inclined to agree.
I'm not too picky about audio quality myself, but I'm also super glad he fixed it because I have no hearing in my left ear, so I thought I might be stuck wearing my headphones backwards in order to hear the commentary. I was pleasantly surprised that he fixed it so quickly.
