I have a ps5 but recently purchased a series x and since I've played on series x in dolby vision I've been enjoying it more. No messing around with tone mapping just set it to dolby vision and it looks great
Series X will just set EVERYTHING to Dolby Vision if you do it in the Xbox settings? I figured movies with it would but i figured no one had it built in games or anything let alone say the menus. Can u explain to me? I’m about to set my Series X up this weekend
The Dolby v2 just means it’s using version 2 of Dolby vision which if I’m not mistaken is the recent one the v1 is the older one you can change which version you use . For Dolby vision only content
It’s because the PC is not on auto it’s outputting a specific peak brightness the tv dosnt understand. When you force 10,000 on the tv everything lines up. To fix this just have the pc setting to auto that way the tv and PC can talk to each other and make the right adjustments.
I just commented this but asked for it from factory and specifically w a Series X and then every other thing like UHD movies, Standard TV, and Dolby Vision settings from factory 😂
I must admit, at first i didnt like you. But when i viewed more videos of you, you are oke man! Nice video's and nice to see your deep love for correct HDR :)
Playing Apex I can’t change the gamma. Changing the colorimetry to BT2020 is a huge improvement for me on HLG. How you set video range or gamut is a preference. Huge huge improvement!
If you like it go for it, I would recommend you to instead leave the colorimetry on Auto and if you like the Saturated colors use Color Gamut Native saturation 50 warm 50 with HLG
@@plasmatvforgaming9648 Apex is very washed and bland. It doesn’t look saturated to me. The colors are just popping. It looks more like the S95B before the update.

Hello, I have been watching your channel for a while now and you are doing a super job. I would like to know if there is any general setting for PC HDR on OLED or do you have to calibrate always separately for each game because I wanna connect my PC to my 65B1 OLED. Have a nice day
If the content is trying to output 10000 and the display can't, tone mapping is necessary and either the game or the TV needs to do it, in this case the game sliders don't change the MaxCLL being 10000 so the TV has to tone map, and that's what is happening by selecting Mastering Peak 10000
Say you have the following scenario: a game like cyberpunk where maxing the slider does 2000 nits. Now say you did that, and set hdmi override to 2000 nits. Would that look better than setting in the in-game slider to 1000 nits and setting hdim override to 1000 nits? or should they look the same/similar?
@@plasmatvforgaming9648 Got it. So on this 27GR95QE-B (that gives you zero control over tone mapping), the best I could do is match the in-game sliders to whatever tone curve the panel decides to use, even if it's not maxing the in-game slider, right? That's all I can do? Example would be cyberpunk. The panel uses a 500 nit tone curve so i'd set 500 in game. (I assume 500 would be displayed at maxtml. Idk why it chooses a 500 curve). Hopefully I cna figure out some way to change the tone mapping curve it uses. Also, when you say cyberpunk tone mapping is messed up, why is that? Because maxcll still goes higher than the value you set?
Not always, watch my upcoming video about REVillage HDR. Sometimes, the Game Tone mapping is so bad that it's better for the display to clip the highlights and max out the ingame slider (REVillage video).
@@plasmatvforgaming9648 Ok looking forward to the video. I'm not sure what is going on with the in-game sliders in resident evil games. I couldn't even get HDR to work correctly. even when i maxed the sliders and took a screenshot with wcg app, it was showing ony like 87 nits. So something is wonky with HDR on those games lol.
Hey plasma , I am playing it on hgig in pc lg c4 48 inches Should i also need to change the peak from auto to 10k? Apart from this the in game hdr is set to 790 nits after windows calibration And paper white to 200
It works for everything, that doesn't mean it's the best option. You need to know the MaxCLL of the content then make sure if you are going to use Tone mapping OFF that the Auto Mastering Peak is actually the same as MaxCLL (maximum peak brightness that the content is trying to output). To figure that out on the PS5 take a screenshot and open it on a Windows 11 PC with the HDR WCG image viewer app. The best option for gaming is HGIG but if the game MaxCLL is 10000 you can't use that.
HLG for non HDR supported games is great. For Native HDR games use HGIG if the game has sliders to adjust the peak brightness to 800 or the game supports system level calibration.
I don't see any difference. Can you make a comparison picture to picture side by side, please? By the way Ragnarok is coming. 55 minutes more then I can play and I can stream it!
I will try to do it side by side on the next one. The difference is that by default the clouds and sun aren't visible by default because the game is trying to output more than what the TV can show.

Should Mastering Color be kept at "BT 2020d65" instead all the time Or only on certain games? Sorry just want little more clarification on when to change Colorimetry and Mastering Color (I'm on ps5)
Don't ever change it, I was just testing to see if it was making any difference, in this secret menu everything should be on Auto but in this case the game is trying to output 10000nits and the Mastering Peak isn't adjusting accordingly. Changing to BT2020 while on HDR makes no difference because the TV is already on BT2020 st2084, I showed that in the video
And I never recommended to force BT2020 on SDR, my recommendation for more saturated colors was to use Native color gamut instead of Auto, but I no longer like the overly saturated colors, I was used to my Plasma TV and using Native on SDR makes the OLED look similar to the Plasma, but I never use SDR on the OLED anyway
