Just imagine if Kodak came up with a skincare cream for film photographers in the shape of a film canister. Imagine how funny would the slogans be... anyways 6:39, 9:16, 9:19, 9:29, 9:45 shots with great colour details and the overall colour palette works so well. Thank you for sharing your work.
If possible, can you please briefly cover the Fuji GS645 Close Up Finder in a video? There is literally no info or details on that accessory online. I'd love to see how close you can really get with it. Thank you!
@@PhilKnall Perfect, thank you! I love composing real up close portraits and completely filling the frame so wanted to see if its worth the investment.
If you use this camera for a while, setting the focus to infinity and cocking the shutter becomes second nature. Of the several GS645 cameras I've owned, I've found that if you do not set the camera to close properly, the ability to close the camera is locked out. It's not a matter of powering through to close the camera, unless someone has done this previously and broken it. My dilemma has been, do I open and close the camera between shots when walking around (to protect the bellows) or leave it open (to avoid wear and tear). I tend to be a "leave it open" guy.
Yes, it is a pretty solid resistance that feels like it would require quite a bit of force. I have also found that I've gotten much better at setting it to infinity almost instinctively. Currently I'm usually closing it between shots, but if I'm expecting to shoot more photos in a close area, I leave it open. It's just so much fun to use isn't it. Thanks for your input!
Dude you are a great photographer! This got me inspired to go out and take streetshots again. I'm currently bidding on a GS645 as well. What film do you use here? And how do you scan it? The images are super sharp.
Thanks so much! These are on Lomo 400, i love that stuff. Just lab scans on these, i don't like scanning myself tbh. Don't have a lot of time and would rather spend it taking photos! Good luck with the GS bid. It's one of my favorite cameras!
Hi Phil, glad you got the light leaks sorted. You have some good pictures there. The video brings back good memories of my travels in Japan. Can I ask you about the shutter speed dial on your GS645? I recently got one and although it is in great condition and has new bellows the shutter dial is often really, really stiff. It's currently in a workshop being worked on for a second time, but I'm trying to get an idea from other owners what theirs is like?
Hi Stephen! Thanks for the comment. Yep, mine's really stiff too. It's a bit worrying when you consider the strain it's putting on the mechanism, isn't it.
@@PhilKnall Thank you for taking the time to reply. I was finding this strange variance in resistance with mine. Sometimes it would be a little stiff, other times extremely stiff. To the point where, as you say, I would worry about putting to much torque on the whole lens mechanism so I got it serviced. They found some old thick grease in the shutter that was hardening. They removed most of it and re-lubricated and gave me it back to try. It was a little better but still not right. So they took it back to give it a deeper clean. Whilst they were doing that I had been wondering how other people’s cameras were, hence my question to you. There doesn't seem to be much on the web about it. Anyway I got a call this morning to say it was ready and I just picked it up. Completely different feel. It now moves so easily. Almost like the aperture of a modern mechanical lens. Much less pressure on the shutter mechanism and the surrounding arms. They said they found no broken parts as they worked on it. They just completely stripped the copal shutter down, removed all the old grease that remained and re-lubricated. I just wanted to let you know it can be greatly improved. The trick is to find someone with the expertise to strip down, clean and lubricate the copal shutter. More easily done in Tokyo than the UK I can imagine. I hope the camera keeps delivering for you. Steve

Nice photos. How did you scan images for digital use? Does Fuji have filters for this lens? Any sticky shutter issues? Last, Is in camera metering accurate ? The smaller size seems good for street use despite your obstacles encountered with pesky light leaks and weather. Thanks
Hi! Thank you for the comment. As for your questions: 1 i usually get the cheapest option lab scans for digital use, when I want to print i use my digital camera and negative lab pro. 2 I haven't seen any filters. However, the close-up kit has a threaded hood that I could probably screw one into. 3 no issues so far! 4 yep metering accurate! I love the compactness of this camera as you said. It's a great walking companion.
Still stunned by how compact that GS645 is! I loved the shots, very pleasing colours. Oh and I can relate so much to that skin issue when wearing masks 😬

Haha, I would love that! Maybe the size is more suited to lip balm, though. Thanks for the compliments, glad you like the shots 😊
