- The Y61 Nissan Patrol common rain diesel is a vastly underpowered 4WD despite its rock solid ZD30 motor. The beauty though is that it gives us a lot of scope for improvements. Our top of the range Stage 3 upgrade has been extremely successful and the feedback we have got has been nothing short of glowing.
The Stage 3 upgrade starts with our trained technician fitting new Gturbo ZD-G300 Bad Boy turbocharger, HPD VNT Boost controller along with a Cross Country 4x4 Ultimate Intercooler upgrade. As a package this substantially improves the torque and power, showing its potential in keeping cooler intake temps and exhaust gas temperatures when engine tuning modifications come into play. These top mount intercoolers are great right up to 200kw’s plus at the wheels.
We then fit a Pacemaker King Brown turbo back exhaust system which removes the restriction and allows the turbo to spool up easier.
We also fit a Process West SEPR8R Air Oil Seperator catch can to capture oil mist entering your engines inlet manifold which can build up in your engines intake and cause a carbon build which can reduce reliability and performance over time.
We complete the package by custom tuning your vehicles ECU on the dyno in real time utilizing the latest ECU tuning software to maximize power, torque and fuel efficiency and testing your vehicle on the road to make final adjustments, optimizing your vehicles performance and driveability. At the end of this upgrade we will provide you with a dyno graph comparing the before and after power & torque increase the upgrade has made to your vehicle.

I always knew they were underpowered, but from the he outset I had a Beaudesert exhaust fitted, driving from Bathurst NSW to Beaudesert Qld I was able to determine the truck had far less turbo lag but I'm after more power.

I suffer from adjusting the voltage or speeding up with what is called Safe Mode if the machine exceeds 135 kilometres

Can I ask what rpm the g300 is coming on boost? If it's for towing I assume 1400rmp like the stock turbo?
So im curious, I thaught the ZD30 were prone to failure, how did you get it to be reliable?
I really like these Nissan's but have been scared off of the 3L from all of the bad reports, how do I know a good one from a bad one?
it was only a few year models that were the grenade im pretty sure but could be wrong it was 05 through 07 and maybe a year either side. but basically after 09 they were bullet proof. just run hot which when people dont pay attention can cause issues.
What are the average egt’s achieved ?
Is this suitable for common rail or direct injection or both ?
Do you swap or change the factory boost solenoid ?
What boost are you running in the stock internals ?
That particular package isn't no idea if Horsepower factory does it but 150kw is definitely possible from a DI with similar mods plus upgraded injectors.
If you just want a fast(er), more torque daily driver and occasional tow, do you need a clutch (HPC) upgrade to cope with the extra power/torque?
a heavy duty clutch won’t hurt depending on power

Not this exact set up but I have the same exact car but manual has been tuned since 230k now has just under 300 running 21psi stock turbo with supporting mods at 175hp and 470nm been reliable as runs great!!!!
