Every time there's a software update it reverts and the mechanic needs to fight with it to not go back every time the car is turned off.
This is a 4WD diesel, which means it's all about low end torque so you can drive up a wall in 1st gear. And they explained quite clearly that they just let it free boost. A waste gate limits boost once you've hit your target. It never adds more, as only the turbo can do that. The only way from here is more fuel which makes more power, which makes more exhaust, which makes more boost, which opens the option for more fuel, and then you continue that until the engine explodes... at which point you dial it back a notch. But this is a TD42 with a stock bottom end, so getting a bigger fuel pump will just make it drop it's guts on the floor and/or make a huge plume of black smoke. But Gus doesn't have an unlimited fuel budget, so the fuel pump was calibrated for efficiency. An air-fuel ratio of 45:1 at the top end is good for his wallet and good for the engine life.
