Such a breath of fresh air. I think you truly grasp fashion forward concepts! And put them into a theoretical context. Personally, I can't understand the public's fascination with extremely expensive designer bags or wasteful unsustainable trends. The concepts that you have touched in your analysis videos so far should be at the core of fashion design today.
I discovered your channel a few weeks ago and it's quickly become one of my favorites. I'm LOVING these analysis videos -- you are exceptional at breaking down complex concepts and applying them to fashion and style in a unique way. It's rare that I watch a YT video and it makes me want to read theory!
This is the first brand analysis video I have watched and NOT turned off halfway into it, in a really long time. An informative, detailed and thoroughly researched and thought through presentation allowing for new found appreciation for the brand! I absolutely loved it! You totally speak my language! Great work!
Well done, the parallel you drew between modernism's Le Corbusier's philosophy is on point. I've loved The Row's aesthetic ever since I discovered the brand a few years back. I can't afford the clothes, obviously, & couldn't justify spending that much on what I wear even if I did 😅. It does however inform my choices in terms of cuts & silhouettes I want to incorporate into my style. One brand I can afford that's been upping its game these past few years in terms of edgy, streamlined minimal impeccable tailoring in mostly a monochrome palette & great materials is Massimo Dutti. Their latest drop for FW23 blew me away. It's kind of reminiscent of Philo's Céline, the blazers in particular. I've been living under a rock this past year & have no idea what's trending but those masculine slightly boxy at the shoulder then a little more fitted around the waist blazers with button fastening way above what is considered acceptable are quintessentially Philo & MD dropped a slightly different variation of those that have me drooling atm. I enjoyed your analysis, suscribing.
Everytime I've heard someone talk about Massimo it's always been praise. Thank you so much for the suggestion and will definitely check it out. And honestly, that's one of the appeals about The Row to me. Because The Row, PP don't rely on logos, but the innovation of cut and silhouette is what inspires me to play with my own wardrobe, or what to look out in the sale sections. Thank you so much for watching❤️
Love this breakdown! The row is such an understated brand, that has become one of the top luxury minimalist brands I would say. Their pricing is a bit much for me, but I love the designs 💛
As someone who studied art history and started to research about The Row as a brand, I LOVE and SO APPRECIATE how you made correlations to the history of fashion, architecture, and design!! So thoughtfully interpreted and explained.
Wow this was such an awesome video! I have fallen in love with The Row's trousers and had the chance to try them on in store. While the price range is a bit outside of what I can afford right now, I cannot get over how exceptional their items fit and sit on my body. I will definitely be grabbing a few of their items in the future, but for now I need to find some affordable alternatives.
Ohh yes I feel you. The few pieces I have from The Row I purchased well in the sales and they were super painful. No need to stress yourself, there are plenty of inspired-by pieces out there. Thank you for watching❤
Would you ever do a more in-depth video on how the Olsen Twins are not following style rules for short people? Love the whole video, especially the last part! The best advice is really lean into your own characteristics and sprinkle other aesthetic ideas/vibe. It’s very important to also put our own body, face, and look into the equation. I gravitate towards The Row, Phoebe, etc. when browsing online but my own “look/essence” is quite the opposite. I look quite harsh in their aesthetic, if I try to strictly follow their house codes. But when I lean into my child-like features, I look and feel more like myself.
That's such a great idea. I love that people like the Olsen Twins and Phoebe Philo are such style rule breakers. Agree it's good to be self-aware of our own features/physique to personalize style. Thank you for watching Ave💕
Excellent video. I discovered you yesterday and can't stop watching your content. I am a Brazilian designer, and I am blown away. Clearly you are someone with a brain, and you are using it. You go, girl! I am your fan. Brilliant.
I feel like the Moosgaard sisters really hit the mark with this look. They definitely love The Row! I’d love to see a video dissecting Scandi vs Japanese minimalism
No idea how I fell into this but you are just lovely. I’ve come to TH-cam multiple times looking for style and I wish I would have found you. I’m not sure if you’ve any content that’s centered around that as I’ve only watched a couple videos. Nevertheless.. love it
very impressed when a Frank Lloyd Wright home gets shown and mentions of Le Corbusier come up. your mind really dives deep 🌇 I like your blunt breakdowns haha- horizontal and brutalist architecture much like the style itself can't say i don't like clean lines! that Jackie Onassis 15:46 coming off of Airforce1 in that pink Chanel shows you're just as classic as she was!
Wow, what an intelligent and insightful video. I never, in a million years, would have made the connection between Frank Lloyd Wright architecture and clothing. This is truly value-added content. Thank you for taking the time to make such a smart video. Not sure how I discovered you but will be watching & learning more.
Haha yes. I just stalked their instagram and couldn't help but notice how many times they referenced architecture. Thank you so much for discovering this space!
hello! love this video, so insightful and interesting. just wondering if you know where the building is located and/or the architect of the building at 8:42? it looks like my university in australia, which would be crazy if it was haha
FYI....The intellectualism that is afforded to us via your keen sense of the arts is putting me back in college. I love anything about fashion and the arts....thank you Mary for sharing your knowledge and awareness.
As always you made a well-researched quality video but please don't mention or promote the use of animal skins, it's unnecessary, there are great fakes available, save the animals who want to live just like we do. It's utterly selfish to have an animal killed just so you can buy a bag or jacket that frankly if you saw on a cheap market stall you would not look twice at. Same for obvious logos, if most women saw the same bag on a market stall without a logo they would not buy it, most of these handbags look awful and they're bought by insecure people who want to show they can afford them, it's vulgar imo.
Your take on comparing The Row to architecture is so insightful. Love this breakdown!
Thank you! It just felt like the right comparison. Thank you for watching❤

Yes, I love how the Row creates wardrobe building pieces that you can wear longterm. Thank you so much for watching Judy❤️
