I love how Mary-Kate has been deviating from her usual all black lately into more color teetering back to her chill/"dad-core" looks, while Ashley has been sticking with her Yoji-esk/romantic vibes, somewhat differentiating themselves from each other. For a while, they were both so avant-garde, and I love seeing the evolutions going back and forth and evolving over the decades!
Yess! I feel as I age with them my style goes through similar evolutions. Sometimes its more Mary-Kate sometimes more Ashley. Thank you so much for watching💕
can you do a video with their communication style? Social media strategy, interviews, photoshoots, collabs etc! Would be so interesting to hear your take on this :)
I like the Row's design. I really do think that you can get more or less very similar designs at premium quality at a much lower price point, from Cos.
Hi Mary. Another AWESOME vid. My opinion is that Normcore isn't necessarily (or solely) a response to economic recession. I think it's more about evolution, in the grander scheme of things, and it is bigger and deeper than fears about recession. Fashion, in recent years (at least from my vantage point) has been grandiose and over-the-top: logomania, bright colors, outrageous prints - and what about all the different heel styles we've seen? If a fashion pendulum exists, then it definitely did swing to one extreme. Now, that pendulum is starting to swing back. The silhouettes are more restrained and oddly nostalgic for a more innocent, but recent era perhaps? Dare I say (and I hope this doesn't trigger too many people), it's more CONSERVATIVE, not to mention sober, grounded, and, yes, introverted. One other thing - this concerning the Margaux bag. It caught my eye when it was first launched. But I saw a picture of John Legend's wife (I always forget her name) sporting one while on vacay and I noticed that the base of the bag had bulged out. It wasn't rigid as one would probably prefer or expect from such an expensive piece. So I decided not to purchase it. Will hold out, maybe, for an oversized Bolide. I'm a big bag girl at heart.
Yes I get exactly what you're saying. Fashion as lifestyle factors in will prioritize comfort and casualness. Ohh Chrissy Teigen, I tried to look it up but that's super disappointing. I honestly don't think most celebrities really care for their bags though, I've seen birkins (unintentionally) look beat up. An oversized bolide would be stunning and they go for such a deal right now! Thank you for watching Margaret💕
Great vid I like your thoughts throw your idea and the time traveling to the 00ts everything old is new again, but just in a different meaning I always thank you have to live with your clothes until you try them on to me a pair of pants or shirt can change through the years, but still remain the same items of clothing
I did not have a name for it but I guess at the moment I am feeling norm/bloke core in my outfits and I also tend to gravitate to the men's sections in stores and online...
Great video as usual Mary🙌🙌🙌 love how deep you go in your discovery. I dont know about this collection. Maybe would be some pieces wearable, made it your own, on different shape, it can work. I dont see anything right now that i want. I got a few pieces from previous collections, that i absolutely love . But this , i dont see elegance, so its definitely not me. I prefer Celine 2010 designs 😜, which i am looking to recreate 😉 Have a blessed day🙏💗
I think while are some elements are similar, the priorities are different. QL is about high quality materials, tailoring, cut and typically a neutral palette. Normcore is less concerned with quality, and prioritizes comfort/casualness and could be colourful (even sporty) or neutral. Thank you for watching💕
I think it's also a more sustainable way of styling because people are choosing more timeless pieces. It's not that crazy after the "wardrobe capsule era" and the mass realization that trendy and fast fashion isn't working anymore.
I love their knits and hints of Yamamoto but mostly their coats - ecspecially everything dramatic and voluminous- but while shopping i was often disappointed with the materials, too much polyester and then charge 1k? No thanks… ill have to look out for a wool coat next time
I like dressing simply and understated everyday chic, I like some Miu Miu and Gucci, I don't like oversize jackets and tops as I'm petite but I've decided to try some loose jeans, I don't do sporty or shabby casuals or wear gym clothes outside the gym. I didn't know The Row before watching your videos, they use an awful lot of fabric that would swamp anyone petite or overweight, not for me, I don't think their pieces are keepers, they are mainly trendy and won't last imo. When I see the Olsens on their cigarette break I can't help thinking how their clothes will smell, yuk!
Thanks for the great videos. I like The Row but… I’m not crazy about the high price of clothing that looks like it came from a discount store. I prefer a more minimalist clean look they normally have. It felt a bit sloppy and not high fashion. I was happy to see the core pieces but I’ll pass on the “Dad-goes-to-Best-Buy” look.
This stuff gonna end up on the sale rack, and eventually in literal outlet stores. I feel like the Row is chasing the trends now rather than setting any. They are so derivative with this collection, the stuff that isn’t outright Gap. The risk with this norm-core is people not wanting to spend the mega money only to look like you shopped at JCPenney. Cotton T, okay, do I want to shell out $800 for the Row or a really comfy $200 James Perse or think, hey I want to get a spring break at the beach, so my clothes budget gonna JCrew.
I usually like The Row looks but not these so much. I don’t like the unisex look. The oversized look I like, but it can go too far where it doesn’t look tailored, and this is how these looks are, not attractive. Looks too messy.

How do you review spring2024 without going over the chani pant?

Yes, there is something special about repurposing clothing for different periods. Thank you for watching🙏
very cool vid
Thank you so much💕
I did not have a name for it but I guess at the moment I am feeling norm/bloke core in my outfits and I also tend to gravitate to the men's sections in stores and online...
Yes I always love to check out mens fashion and prefer the cut of menswear silhouettes. Thank you for watching Janice💕
@@MarysRoom Yes, why do men's pants fit me better and look better on me?

Yes I get what you're feeling and I'm curious to know how these pieces will be made. Thank you so much for watching Giedre💕
Fantastic presentation. My prayers for the demise of logo-laden looks have been answered😎
lol! I still wear logos but its nice to know there are options when I want something a bit more under the radar. Thank you for watching💕
@@MarysRoom Right? I’m talking about head to toe logos: a matching tracksuit covered in the brand’s font in a 5"x 20" repeat pattern‼️🤣
interesting video! do you feel the 'normcore' trend is a sortof sister trend to the quiet luxury trend?
I think while are some elements are similar, the priorities are different. QL is about high quality materials, tailoring, cut and typically a neutral palette. Normcore is less concerned with quality, and prioritizes comfort/casualness and could be colourful (even sporty) or neutral. Thank you for watching💕
Hailey Bieber makes a statement while still looking effortless. It’s like a remix to the 90s casual look
Yes! She's channeling that 90s-cool girl that has inspired so many influencers. Thank you so much for watching Nikita💕
I think it's also a more sustainable way of styling because people are choosing more timeless pieces. It's not that crazy after the "wardrobe capsule era" and the mass realization that trendy and fast fashion isn't working anymore.
Yes such a valid point! It's definitely a rejection of the mass consumption that fuels fashion. Thank you for watching❤️
The casual sportcore looks remind me of Julie Pelipas Bettter. Have you checked out her recent drop?
100% it's a definitely a nod in that direction and I have, it's so good! Thank you for watching❤
mary's room = therapy 🤍
Wow! Thank you so much Maryam💕
It's a small change for The Row but noticeable enough.
Agreed! I think there is still the core Row pieces but the casual looks are very prevalent. Thank you for watching❤
I love their knits and hints of Yamamoto but mostly their coats - ecspecially everything dramatic and voluminous- but while shopping i was often disappointed with the materials, too much polyester and then charge 1k? No thanks… ill have to look out for a wool coat next time

mary! u didnt show us ur look 😢😢 is dat a qt trench I see?? 😅
Ohh yes forgot! It's a Max Mara trench from 5 years ago. Thank you for watching💕
everyone is transfer into or out of COS lmao , just buy COS

Love your creative luxury content! We'd love to collaborate with you! If interested, pls let me know~
Appreciate you reaching out but I'm not in a position to accept collaborations at the moment. Thank you for considering!
Just remember the day when Obama was made fun of because of those sneakers and dad jeans. Now that’s literally fashionable 😂
Honestly, he's in style right now😂
I miss smoking cigarettes, lol
I've never tried it lol!
@@MarysRoom You're better off. It will never leave me..
Anti-fashion iykyk
Definitely. Normcore has an anti-fashion attitude
