  • Watch SpeedTree artist Sarah Scruggs create a highly-detailed Red Gum Eucalyptus from scratch using SpeedTree Cinema 8. Approximately 80-minute modeling session time-compressed to three minutes (textures were created earlier).
    SpeedTree Cinema's contributions to film and television were recognized with a Scientific and Technical Academy Award and an Engineering Emmy.

    Wow, I didn't know SpeedTree made such great gum trees. Very handy for those of use living Down Under. Thanx.

    Pretty much the best program to make custom procedural vegetation... price is still a bit prohibitive for a small studio but I'm glad it has come down

    TH-cam relay needs a better video bitrate for 1080p content... That's sad, I can't watch this glorious tree without compression artefacts :(

    Hey! Would be good to have a professional tutorial showing a full process for a complex tree like this one. Thanks! :)

    Would be great if this was an actual tutorial... regular speed and explanation. Speed tree has so many advanced features, but its obvious watching tutorials on youtube that few know how to use them. Would be great if you could help us understand. These highspeed videos are nice marketing material, but not much use for users.

      I 100% agree. Where can we find tutorials showing how to use SpeedTree 8's many amazing features.

      I 100% agree with you, there are no official tutorials on the subject, even on Gumroad ! I want to use SpeedTree for Unity but there's nothing to help.. Too bad

    Now how about a step by step tutorial from you guys on the creation of this tree because it encompasses so many elements of SpeedTree it would be a hell of a learning tool. Too many 10 minute recipe tutorials here that go into the how but not the why and best practices.

    Great video + nice music too. Beautiful tree and very natural looking but looks quite heavy with the poly count at times. Is there a feature to optimise the number of polys ?

      Click on Setting > Speed > 0.25. Mute the sound if annoying. Then you are good to go.

    Speedtree vs Forester... What do you think?

    • @aratomiklos
      @aratomiklos 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm not used Forester before but as I know it's "only a plugin" for C4D and Softimage. I think SpeedTree is more than industry standard and have more users than Forester. It follows that the guys behind this software keep it updated and they are still developing at the moment:) However Forester is really usable too and you can achieve a great result within but it has it's own limitations (like any softwares). Anyway I think booth of it is great and do the job, but you have to choose which is better fit your needs (like interface, exporting options and other features which are matters you:)

    Man, I really wish any version of Speedtree wasn’t the buggiest program ever to exist. 😭

    • @theformoverfunction
      @theformoverfunction 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      would you recommend it over plant factory etc tho?

    • @seansandness9057
      @seansandness9057 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@theformoverfunction Things that ruin a program for me: glitches, bugs, and unorganized, counter-intuitive interfaces that display little information about what's going on. I personally haven't used Plant Factory, so I don't know how buggy it is until I've put a couple hours/days in, but I've made thousands of trees in Speedtree. I can say Plant Factory's interface seems much more intuitive and easy to understand with so many more custom tools and shortcuts than Speedtree. Also, for what it's worth, I can't quite put my finger on it, but it seems like the people that made Plant Factory generally take themselves more seriously. Again, I don't know if it's buggy or not, but what program you choose also depends on what you plan on doing. Speedtree, based on their relationships with multiple game engines, is better for video games and interactive 3D programs. And it seems like Plant Factory is more geared for movies, photography, etc.

    Yeah, I don't understand the value in uploading a video like this in a timelapse format - it doesn't help anyone. Presented at it's original speed, perhaps with a timelapse intro, would've been more useful.
