Thanks for this video. This is a much more budget friendly way to feed rooted plants. I am glad you mentioned not to use those in gravel bottom tanks. My next tank will follow your method of dirt with a sand cap so I will try them then.
I’ve been using only Osmocote since October and have seen zero signs of any nutrient deficiency. The leaves on my swords last forever. I’ll put about 25 tabs in my tank every 3 months. I bought the 8lb bag and 1000 capsules a couple years ago, I think I’ll be set for awhile.
I owe all these facts to you. I make a point to mention you when I speak about osmocote in general. This video it escaped my memory to do so. However, this is the most useful information I've ever learned from a subscriber which isn't much. I'm self taught.
@@yourtap no worries, you actually made me more confident about using them, a lot of people say they are too dangerous to use. Also I’d didn’t realize there were vegetarian capsules, I’ve heard that loaches and other carnivores could smell the regular gelatin capsules and dig them up.
@@k9feces I've never owned a loach. However I do have pea Puffers and I can't use them in their tank for the simple fact that Puffers like to sleep under the sand.

How many capsules should I put in a 10 gallon tank? Thank you
In a 10 gallon I wouldn't go the capsule route. I'd use osmocote as is and sprinkle a dozen of those pellets in first then put the dirt over it.
If your tank is already dirted. I'd use tweezers to stick them in individually a couple inches apart.
