Watched this video plus head you talk about high and low idle so grabbed my poulen that wouldn't start no more I messed with jets before and it wouldn't start again but year later,,last night tried so more messed with those two idle just eyeing it and getting it to scream for couple sec at a time got it idling with no chain spin no chug when pulling trigger now it blasts just don't use the saw at all lol, it also has bar oil leak but I'm impressed I got it to start and run perfectly 😊
Hi Buckin i did not get to see your live stream earlier i was working on my Husqvarna 123L string trimmer the idle on it is acting up, smoking heavily, and cutting out i looked at the carburetor and the metering diaphram is pressing on the needle lever flooding the engine. I have two other carburetors but they all need to be rebuilt that's why to always have back up equipment in case one goes down you have no downtime. Speaking of carburetors Motorcraft is a good brand but Holly is the way to go for your tallboy truck my dad always loved Holly carburetors.
Has to be a Lady Mac, when you put her down in the doorway she naturally turned to show off her profile. Beautiful Saw. Wish you would show the older models more often.
I always run my chains a little tighter than most. I grab the chain at mid-bar and lift it up. If the drags stay contained in the bar and I can lift it about a quarter of an inch and snaps back down it is tight enough.. I see saws just about every day where the chain is hanging down from the bar which is much to loose. I never tighten a chain warm unless it is noticeably loose which is rare on my saws. After use, I let them cool overnight before I tighten them. To show you how much they can lengthen. The barrel on an M1 Garland will lengthen a quarter of an inch from cold to warm and its barrel is about twice as long as a 20 inch chain. Anyone who tightens a warm chain is just asking for a banjo when it cools down. Not to mention the damage it can cause to the saws bearings and seals.
I agree with some of you, with the echos. I've got a small collection, 5 homelites, mac 10-10 and pro mac 6, and an echo cs550, 650, and a 660, all EVLs. They're all fun to run, but the ones I grab are the echos. Smooth runnin, and easy startin. All old, but what I can afford. 650 and 660 are 5 and $6 finds at the scrap yard with new carb kits. My 660evl is rockin 28" skip in ash and oak! Waite, does this make me a power saw addict???😵
Been trying to get my Husqvarna running, but think I'm gonna need another carb. I bought a cheap china carb on amazon and it won't stay running. I find trucks/cars easier to work on. Miss my ole 72 F250, your truck sounds great!

Yeah, once you pull off a carburetor your into some mechanical surgery. You wanna get it done in one fell swoop. Live feed is cool but i always catch it later. It took me 3 days to watch last week live feed. I'm a day late and a buck short. Good job on the truck but did you check for vacuum leaks with a gauge or did you change any vacuum hoses...? I'm Glad you're a drummer and play the skip tooth beat.. 😊
I would go with echo cs590 timber wolf best bang for the buck just don't buy a Poulan they are junk. Make sure you get properly trained though saws can be very dangerous if used incorrectly.

I would get on Craigslist and pick up a couple cheap electric chainsaws and see how they work, do some cutting and adjustments etc. Then after some good experience work your way into gas power saws. That's how i did it. And along the way i would listen to the horrible accidents that happened to guys who were a little careless. Hearing 1st person stories of injuries from professional people will give you the confidence to go slow and develop your skills wisely.
I always wondered. Why do you partially pull out the pull cord when you turn off the saws? I use to see my grandfather do it all the time but never really thought anything of it.

I haven't seen a Mac in my area in 20 or so years. It's either Still, Echo, or Husqvarna. I generally go with the Husky myself.

Saves the starter pawls from torquing when you shut off the saw. Just kindness to the equipment.
