That's right Peter , because I was thinking of uploading a video on TH-cam but then I thought I will post the next day then the other day I thought the same thing of uploading the next day and it still continues from a whole month . So, do what you want to do right now and start following your dreams.
My biggest problem with taking portraits is that the model (usually my friends) want the picture in which they are looking good, and that necessarily is not the best overall image. It is a constant struggle between my vision and their vanity.
That gave me so many ideas like a bubble with red smoke or a bubble popping as it touches the lense for the end of B-roll or transition, or red smoke itself and playing cards and bubble flying through it
Hey chris love your videos just wanted ask you one thing I'm an intermediate photographer and i want to switch my camera for good this time currently using cannon 700d, my budget is like 1000-1200$, which camera would be the best for me i love photography and watching you i also have fallen in love with cinematography... Hope you reply soon it'll be a big help. Thank you!😊
The Canon 80D is a fantastic body. But in all honesty, the best camera you can have is the one in your hands. The gear doesn't make the photographer. Shoot with what you have and use that $1200 on something that will benefit you more, like a new lens.
The reason why his photos are so cool is because of his editing style. All of his photos look normal until he edits them which makes them look really vibrant.
Peter, you are a PRO ! To highlight another artist and praise his work on your Channel is a very gracious move. It's reassuring you are obviously concerned more with the "art" of social media than the fame/money of social media. Great video.
I like what you said in the end about getting the quality of work that you only practice for. It certainly makes me want to go out and shoot everyday. Plus, this feature about Brandon really makes me excited! Idk why but.
Once again another amazing video from Peter. Peter mentioned Brandon underexposes and brings back details in the post, I thought general recommendation was to expose to the right (without blowing highlights) and then bring back details in the post.
I love coming back to this video on a regular basis. Especially the introduction of Brandon after Peters Intro... Peter just did a perfect job there. Two of my favorite artists :)
Telling someone else's method of shooting in a brilliant way. This is why I am huge fan of yours. As an emerging content creator, I'd like thank for the inspirations.
Wow this guy Brandon has some serious artistic skill. Really enjoy your videos. The energy and love of what you do shows through. I've watched tons of your how too vids.
Under exposing also helps with the look of the neon lights which are part of the photo just as much as the model. So they're not all just blown up highlights without details. Same applies to scenes in dark with fire elements for example.
Love this style , the neon lights are unique , and always cool. I know there are so many that must have been scraped over the years. That is hard to swallow.
wow..I've been following Brandon since a while already and I am always impressed by his work, but to actually have you break it down to each step was a very good lesson for me and gave me lot's of ideas of things I should be thinking of when shooting..so thanks Peter!💪
As a photographer I really like this guy's work (and yours) and I REALLY like the fact you mentioned doing photography you may not be comfortable (or confident) with and making it a "strength". I also like the mentioning of being constantly in motion while shooting... so important! Thanks for such another great video!!
So excited when I saw that you had this. I'd not heard of him before I saw on Chris' vlog and thought he was amazing. How beautiful are some of those shots. I'm just trying to be funny on TH-cam and informative about travel, food and my life but you and the people around you that you highlight really make me want to be able to one day be more creative on the filming side of things as well. Merci
Under exposing and crushing the blacks, using prisms and putting things in the way of the camera, using neon lights... gives you photos like Brandon Woelfel, and makes your work just like the thousands of copycats after him. I encourage everyone to experiment in photography, but try this stuff out as learning experiences to shape your own style, rather than etched-in-stone gospel.
I think that's missing the point of the video. This video didn't seem so much like a guide on how to shoot portraits like Brandon Woelfel, but more of some helpful tips to help you better your own style. That's just my takeaway though.
The tips I mentioned were the ones that relate directly to Brandon's style, the other ones (like constantly changing angle and model pose) are very good tips for anybody.
Yeah, totally. Although underexposing can work well for anyone doing low light photography, and I don't think he mentioned crushing blacks in this video. Prisms are a pretty unique component of Brandon Woelfel's style, but shooting through other objects has been a popular technique forever. I'm not trying to fight you on it, I just think you're missing the point of this video a bit.
As always, a killer video Peter!! You Are The Man! What I love most about this is how pumped you are to bring another photographer to light and make him known to a lot of people who may not know he's out there! That is awesome of you to do. You strike me as a person with NO Ego, and that is a great trait to have and a great way to be. I really like this this video! And...and...I'm going to go check out Brandon's work right now. Have a great evening my friend! And I will see you tomorrow(2minutetuesday) PEACE!!
Peter, always crushing the game! 3K subs in just a few months for me and it's all because I got out there and gave it a shot. Huge props to the Dope Squad for the push! #makeart
I love Brandon's style, I also enjoy shooting with lights but there are no many lights in my city... Also love your b-roll and specifically the new LUT you're using. This LUT is epic and it fits perfect for your B-Roll. 100% love it
Thanks for the video Peter! I really like to learn more new stuff about photography and I am also someone who can call herself not bad or maybe even good at my job. But I like to learn new stuff every day, and you are helping me to learn that stuff!
Great tipps. But the underexposure tipp isn't so great for all cameras, especially Canon ;-) Nikon and Sony are great and contain tons of details in the shadows. Most Canon cameras, even in low ISO, will contain a lot of noise if you pull the shadows up too much. So carefull there. If you shoot for Instagram only, doesn't matter. If you want to print, it's actually important to know the limits! PS: I'm a Canon shooter for 10 Years, so this is from experience ;-)
I need more of these tips and tricks and tutorials videos. I mean, I have watched each and every one of your tutorial videos and it never got boring! I love them. I still need to find my niche in the photography, but I love doing it. And that's what matters for me. Now, having this transformed into my profession would take time, but I'll keep trying. Thank you for everything, Peter McKinnon 🙂
so 95% of his photo is his cool editing style but you never mention editing or how he gets from his boring dark image to neon colors in the final photo. so what do i do nexttt??
but man its better not to copy brandons style.....like i absolutely love brandons way of editing and photo capturing but i used to use his style till the time i experimented in photoshop...just keep experimenting till u like a style.
damien chazzel there’s a difference between copying and recreating to find your own style. Beginning photographers need a reference so they’re feeling safer when editing and trust me, having a reference helps you learn Lightroom and photoshop so easy
brother, I'm saving my pocket money to buy a camera & when I will buy the camera (in sha Allah) I will must follow these tips. These tips and tricks are awesome
I HAD SO MUCH FUN MAKING THIS! hope you all enjoyed it! Remember - you won’t get any better if you don’t put in the work to get better. :)
You are amazing!
That's right Peter , because I was thinking of uploading a video on TH-cam but then I thought I will post the next day then the other day I thought the same thing of uploading the next day and it still continues from a whole month . So, do what you want to do right now and start following your dreams.
Were you going to link to the prism used?
Love the vídeo bro like always. Gracias por tu talento

My biggest problem with taking portraits is that the model (usually my friends) want the picture in which they are looking good, and that necessarily is not the best overall image. It is a constant struggle between my vision and their vanity.
Rahul Gill my struggle is that I want to be the photographer and the model😂😢
Rahul Gill omg yess 😂 like my friend didn’t like the best digital art photo I ever did in my history of photography/ digital art career I was hurt 😭
My problem is that no one wants to be in a photo😂
Isaac Cruz struggle is so real! Why can’t my photographer be me and have my vision😂
@@IsaacCruz that's true..
That bubble popping slow-mo shot. WOW! Loved this collab.
Chris Hau look guys it's Chris
Chris why don’t you do a proper collab with peter ?
That gave me so many ideas like a bubble with red smoke or a bubble popping as it touches the lense for the end of B-roll or transition, or red smoke itself and playing cards and bubble flying through it
Hey chris love your videos just wanted ask you one thing I'm an intermediate photographer and i want to switch my camera for good this time currently using cannon 700d, my budget is like 1000-1200$, which camera would be the best for me i love photography and watching you i also have fallen in love with cinematography... Giving me tons of ideas for the next shoot
The best from TH-cam and the best from Instagram together 🙌
Andrés Araújo surely you meant “most popular” not “best”?
Tip #5 - edit the photo like crazy :) (he's got great post-editing skillz)

I see you are a man of culture. I did the same
Ha ha I know right!
Sike Love he's talking about Dan Mace
I did it in the same order.
I was thinking the same thing
Peter, you are a PRO ! To highlight another artist and praise his work on your Channel is a very gracious move. It's reassuring you are obviously concerned more with the "art" of social media than the fame/money of social media.
Great video.
My favorite youtuber talking about my favorite instagramer ...awesome.
I must say that your videos are not only a treat to watch, but to listen to as well. That B-roll music is dope.
The bubble pop shot at 1:53 was my favorite.
I like what you said in the end about getting the quality of work that you only practice for. It certainly makes me want to go out and shoot everyday. Plus, this feature about Brandon really makes me excited! Idk why but.
Peter went crazy with the collabs this month😂😂 you should collab with sam kolder next😍
Once again another amazing video from Peter. Peter mentioned Brandon underexposes and brings back details in the post, I thought general recommendation was to expose to the right (without blowing highlights) and then bring back details in the post.
Sajid Ahmad it is, you can’t bring back what was never recorded. You can fake it in PS and that is what he does.
New upload from Peter?

Your final comments cut so good. I need to be more consistent. Inspired!
This is what happens when a great videographer meets a great photographer. 1:36
They both are great
I love coming back to this video on a regular basis. Especially the introduction of Brandon after Peters Intro... Peter just did a perfect job there. Two of my favorite artists :)
I got it
-Take low Iso with Raw
-Use neon with portraits
-Choose a time of day to shoot
-Change angles & Movements
-Shoot Everyday
السلام عليكم معكم صهيب قدس واليوم عندنا مقلب لاتنسون اللايك
Shoot underexposed and fix afterwards
Thank you so much, much loved and appreciated :D
Telling someone else's method of shooting in a brilliant way. This is why I am huge fan of yours. As an emerging content creator, I'd like thank for the inspirations.
I love your photography tutorials. Brandon is great as well!

Peter, you forgot one tip. It doesn't hurt to have attractive models. :)
RGMG it also doesn't hurt to graduate from the school of visual arts
This is true. :)
u can get it if u really want it. dont give excuses if u wanna success :)
Doesn’t hurt to have a better camera.
Doesn't hurt to have good glass
wow..I've been following Brandon since a while already and I am always impressed by his work, but to actually have you break it down to each step was a very good lesson for me and gave me lot's of ideas of things I should be thinking of when shooting..so thanks Peter!💪
You and Brandon are my favorite photographers
This is your best video in this yearso far! I've got supa pumped :D Thank You!!!
He was so efficient in his NY visit, 4 collabs? Lol
We can tell when the other party not giving much cooperation. I am just assuming.
As a photographer I really like this guy's work (and yours) and I REALLY like the fact you mentioned doing photography you may not be comfortable (or confident) with and making it a "strength". I also like the mentioning of being constantly in motion while shooting... so important! Thanks for such another great video!!

Curious: why wasn’t Brandon actually in the video besides the broll?
Right?? We didn't even get to hear him talk or his own point of view on anything
Was expecting him when Peter said we had coffee and talked
Maybe there will be any part 2
Vivian Valeriena hopefully 🤞🤞🤞
Maybe he wasn’t interested
It's great to see you doing more on photography rather than film. And and and the ands are back🤗
PHWATSUP EVERYBODY!

Thanks for tip on getting good poses...I def struggle with that!
Both you and Brandon are two of my favorite photographers. Thanks for the video.
That's how a Collab should work out!
This was soooo goood! Love Brandons work! thanks for making this collabo Peter!

May be he didn't give much cooperation (his busy schedule). Unable to share too much details. Else, Mr.PM will definitely share them here.

yes!! i've waited a long time for this!!
My two favorite photographers in one video
“You can’t expect to improve if your not putting the work to improve” VERY DEEP!
@Peter McKinnon the fact that someone is actually singing in your intro b-roll instead of just some epic beats made it so much more awesome ^.^
Peter, always crushing the game! 3K subs in just a few months for me and it's all because I got out there and gave it a shot. Huge props to the Dope Squad for the push! #makeart
Kellan Reck Nice content dude, just subscribed!!!!

Thank you peter and brandon.
I love Brandon's style, I also enjoy shooting with lights but there are no many lights in my city... Also love your b-roll and specifically the new LUT you're using. This LUT is epic and it fits perfect for your B-Roll. 100% love it
Two legends! Been waiting for this collab forever!
Thanks for the video Peter! I really like to learn more new stuff about photography and I am also someone who can call herself not bad or maybe even good at my job.

The echo really helped capture the emphasis of your enthusiasm! Awesome video and such inspiring stuff from both you and Brandon

'Infinity War is the most ambitious crossover event in history'
me: nah this is *shows vid*
I really love Brandon's work. My motion up when i watch his work. So every time, i feel not good, i view Brandon's work
so 95% of his photo is his cool editing style but you never mention editing or how he gets from his boring dark image to neon colors in the final photo. so what do i do nexttt??
PeglegMedia there are tutorials on TH-cam showing how to achieve that effect :)
yea i just found a ton and they are awesome!
but man its better not to copy brandons style.....like i absolutely love brandons way of editing and photo capturing but i used to use his style till the time i experimented in photoshop...just keep experimenting till u like a style.
true, need your own style but always fun to re create stuff to learn and then build your own style off of that.
damien chazzel there’s a difference between copying and recreating to find your own style. Beginning photographers need a reference so they’re feeling safer when editing and trust me, having a reference helps you learn Lightroom and photoshop so easy
