- I've come to visit Mummy and Percy in South Africa - so finally you'll see the beautiful beach house that she keeps escaping to from the chateau! The elusive Nic and his beautiful family come to join us, and we indulge in a week of good food, sun, sea, sand, art and - yes, even in Africa! - brocantes! The inhabitants of the Chateau de Lalande stock up on some much needed warmth and sunshine before the season begins 🌞🏰🌞

This weekly vlog follows the adventures of chatelaine Stephanie in her French 16th century home, the Chateau de Lalande, in the heart of rural France ❤️

You can even stay in the bedroom of the Marquise! And in the evenings you can choose to dine privately, or to join us in our chateau family meals.

I hope to be correct. I understand that when her father was alive, he and her mother bought the house, and some of the furniture in it was designed by Stephanie and her father. I’m glad the house wasn’t sold because in the nordic winters there’s a lovely place with a gorgeous summer to escape to. I believe Steph’s father was a traveller and so is she. Steph and her dad were two peas in a pod!!!

i couldn't understand why mummy and percy were always leaving lalande, but now i do! the house and the surroundings are absolutely idyllic. your father's artwork and his decorating style are right up my alley - love them!

Oh, it has been such fun seeing your life in the "other Hemisphere"! Your house is amazing!! My husband, Bill, just sailed to Capetown and stayed at the Royal Cape Yacht Club in our sailboat, Pixie, from Canada. He left a week ago heading for New Zealand. He must have just missed you!! I absolutely adore South Africa and wish I could have visited while you were there! Big hugs from me in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.

What a gorgeous house in a gorgeous place. The beach was to die for. Still cold here. I think tho that I have an even older bathroom in NY. So nice to see Mummy and Percey. Happy Safari.
My husband's parents lived in Southbroom. Right on the golf course with incredible views. Used to visit them every weekend. It's a magical place and the beach and swimming the best in Durban. Living in Cape Town now but wondering now if we shouldn't settle back in Southbroom.
Southbroom is one of my favourite places. My friend Nicci owns La Terazza, the restaurant that overlooks the beach and the river. Such a great blog!
Stephanie, you have the best of both worlds, from the fabulous Lalande to the beach house and a room with a spectacular view! Great to see more of your wonderful family and friends.... the ever smiling Percy reminds me so much of my very missed late uncle, the short sleeve checked shirt also helped in that, so of coarse I thought he looked very spiffy indeed...

Dear Stephanie, what an amazing experience; missed flights, seemingly endless hours in the air, to finally arrive at such a beautiful beach house where your wonderful mother and adorable Percy live. I've never been to Africa and it looks so very beautiful. The sea is gorgeous, and the green of the rolling lands so lush! I must tell you, that Black Mambas terrify me! I dislike and fear snakes and spiders intensely. Oh, dear. Your father's beautiful paintings go perfectly with the architecture and white of the house. I love the baskets! I am a basketweaver myself. I particularly love the red hats and your African sculpture . The gifted paintings are really something, particularly the blue one. What a wonderful gathering of family and friends. I still think you must begin a Vinyard at LaLande! And you need at least one or two signature wines!

I lived in west Africa several years. It was always nice seeing coffee dry in front of village homes. We loved mango and banana trees in our yard. I think I'd like a Collin burger.
