Do you have instructions on triggering alarms from Axis cameras? I just setup Fence Guard on two Axis Q6135 LE PTZ cameras and am not sure how to get Genetec to recognize when someone crosses the fence.
Great video. Thanks for sharing! Question, how'd you get arrows for visual tracking?! The square and oval shapes are pretty ugly! Would love to see other shapes available for VT, especially something that made it a little more obvious as to what those spots are, for more novice users.

Why is the motion settings so difficult to function properly? We have been working with our office cameras and one of our customer's system cameras for months with no solid results. We're getting motion events when there's no motion and wasting tons of hdd space. Constant buffering issues, poor video playback Etc, Etc. I've been in the cctv industry from 1993 and have never had this much trouble getting simple motion detection to function properly. We've tried using the Archiver to do the work and also just the camera to manage motion but zero success with either option.
That is done via event to action but I would caution you against do that. The event is MOTION ON the action is SEND A MESSAGE and then just pick the user that should receive the message. Now every time motion is detected a message will be sent to that user(s) and you'll receive a PUSH Notification to your Mobile app. However, unless you do this really well you may receive 100's or more, especially at night for a variety of reasons.
@@theinsidetrack In speaking with Tech Support, there are NO options for sending a quick video clip or jpeg to a mobile device. We simply wanted to send a clip or jpeg to a mobile user when one of our cameras detects motion while in a schedule for motion alarm event. Garo Der Krikorian advise this isn't an option yet, this is one of the most basic features with all cctv systems, even the cheap ones from Costco offer this option
Hi Phil, our company just bought the licensing to the Genetec system. I feel they should have consulted an expert like you first. We are located in Alberta Canada and have to deal with wind, snow and the frigid cold (-40) in the winter, and wind, and bugs in the summer. Is there and add onn or something in the settings that can help us deal with these types of situations. Your help or a link to solve our problems would be much appreciated. Thanks!
If we have 8000 cameras what is the best practice to decide how many main directory we need ? How many media player we need ? Do we need to keep the events on different server ? How to size the archivers? Can u share with me any valuable documents ?

Here is the answer: That is a really difficult question to answer because there are a number of variables to consider (camera type, system architecture, number of users, network conditions, etc). Hey Phil, does Genetec Security Desk have the ability to cycle through each view on a tab. Example: I have a tab with nine camera views, I want to be able to cycle full screen through each of these 9 views.
Phil-Please Make a simple video and keep it simple and share for a BASIC motion detection setup with an Axis camera or a Hanwha camera. The settings options offered in config tool are way too complicated and confusing for getting the motions options to function properly. Archiver sensitivity levels too touchy, night time settings don't follow the day time settings either.
We paid over $2K for advantage support but get very little support, I'm told to "just read the directions" while on the phone with tech support , what's the point of paying for Advantage support????
Fair point... The intent of these videos is to provide you with Tips and Tricks. My basic assumption is that the folks watching these videos are either existing users of Genetec Security Center or certified technicians with, at least, a fundamental understanding of the basics. From there, my purpose is to provide those users with a more complete understanding of all the tools at their disposal. To put it another way, think of my channel as you would a course on learning to be a Stunt Driver! In order to become a Stunt Driver you need a basic understanding of how cars work and how to operate them. From there you dan acquire the knowledge on how to perform stunts. Now, that's not to say you need to be a Stunt Performer to work our software but that's the best analogy I could come up with to justify not doing a step-by-step programming video. Genetec is Way too complicated to do simple things.! Being that it's a company that's in bed with Windows and Microsoft, they request money for every little thing in licenses
Genetec is not "in bed with" anyone, lol! We do work exclusively in the Windows Environment but we are a completely independent software developer. In terms of licenses, you would be surprised as to how many features and functions you receive as part of the base licenses. I find that more often than not, you typically do not need to purchase any optional features unless you absolutely need some advanced function. But thats the reason for this series of videos. How do you get the most of your Genetec system? Watch these videos because most of this content is based around base features.
