this review was one hell of a journey. Going track to track was inspired

Great video! Any updates on your journey? I liked my 800s but I restrain myself from buying it again even at under 1k, because I would like to have only one headphone. One to provide me the best musical experience.

A beautiful review, really enjoyed the format, going from track to track. While I dont share most of your conclusions (HD800s isnt for me it lacks resolution and sounds overly thin and cold, still I know that headphone quite well since many friends owned it at some point) I really enjoyed the clip. To me Caldera is by far higher resolution, better bass controlled, punchier a nd better seperating headphone with a ton more emotion than HD800s which edges out for me only with its beautifully large stage. Atrium is much warmer than Caldera and lower resolution, the stage is about the same as Caldera. If you want a big 3d stage experience with a dynamic driver ZMF try Verite Open, its a very special headphone. Good thing about VO is that its bit older than other ZMF flagships meaning its easy to get second hand at a very competetive price of 1.5-2k

my Verite closed are even more special just because its closed and sounds very open :)

I agree. Having both the VO and Caldera, I feel the Caldera does what the VO does just, bigger/grandeur. The Caldera has a bigger more rich/full bodied sound. The VO would be my endgame if not for the Caldera. I will probably sell off my VO as I just don't need it anymore.

Thanks for the reply . Do you prefer the caldera over the Artium ?

Music is supposed to be emotional so it's refreshing to see it being treated as such. Interesting take on the usual review formula.

Great review! Atrium is more similar to HD800S, Caldera is more of a counterpoint/complement.

Great review! I see that you have a Smyth research A16 realizer, any chance you would do a review on that? I'm very intrigued by it

Thanks so much! I'm glad you enjoyed it. I do plan on doing a review on the A16! Unfortunately, the existing reviews on it are ... well.. let's say they don't do the complexity and capabilities of the device justice. I'm out of town for a few weeks, but will probably start working on that when I return. Stay tuned!

    Greetings from Toronto ☕️
I just did my stack over for my 60th birthday 🥳
    I picked up the Bryston BHA-1 ….and I couldn’t be happier.😊
The truth of headphones is as you’ve said is just for getting into and enjoying the music.
    Great video.👍

Particularly I don't really like heavy headphones.. the hd800s is light... wonder how comfortable is the caldera???? What I don't like about audeze headphones is the weight and the caldera seems to be similar... I usually listen about 2 hours of music 🎶 non stop... and a heavy and consequently uncomfortable 🎧 headphone is a deal breaker in spite of sound... would be a great thing if one day we could buy a headphone, try out for 30 days or so... and keep it or return for a full refund... is to hard to pay $4.000 usd to a headphone 🎧 that we never heard its sound ( once sound is also a matter of preferences or tastes.....) nevertheless you cleared some of my questions with this lengthy but well balanced and informative review.... keep up the good work 👏 and many thanks for this video..
