    THANK YOU!!!! This has been a pet peeve of mine as well. I cannot even have a conversation about it with some coaches cause they believe I do not know what quarters is!!! LOL. It's hilarious. Thanks Again!

    Coach, have you thought about putting up a defensive video on FIB? Twins, trio, trey, TE with a single wr. Would love to hear how uou bbn handle and adjust your 4-2-5 quarters against those sets. Let me know if you have something like that and I am just missing it.
    Thanks coach!

    Coach do you mind I link this to a group of football fans who follow my channel? I would link it on Twitter and in a video description. I think it would help some of the people who follow my channel understand what is going on in certain games when the QB is trying to adjust to changing reads and coverages. Great stuff again, even though I know it is an old video. I had watched it a few years back and wanted to refer to this in a video. Thanks.

    I'll admit it, I thought Quarters and Cover 4 were synonymous. Thanks for setting me straight on this. As an offensive coach, I need to know this. LOL. By the way Coach, I'm trying to strengthen my offensive coaching ability by doing a deeper dive in to defensive structures. What suggestions would you have for that? I'm already a subscriber to the playfastfootball site so I know that would be one suggestion.

      It's not just you coach, football has no set vocabulary. A lot of times guys are talking about the same things using different terms. Study differences between odd and even fronts, then progress to 1 High and 2 High coverages. I use Glazier Clinics Vault and TH-cam to study. Also Thank You for being a member of PlayFast, but get others opinions on things also.

    Coach, I don't want to be the guy that only talks exceptions but here I go...
    In 3x1 the SS splits #2 #3. His rule is don't get out leverage by #3 and don't let #2 cross your face. We see a lot of stick concepts to put him in a conflict. Bubble by #3 and a stick by #2. Do you tell the SS to play the stick 1st and rally to the bubble OR play the bubble first and M will take over the stick late?
    Also, really curious to how you play twins with the ball in the middle of the field. Do you play 3 on 2 to the throwing strength and leave the backside 2 on 2? Would love to hear your adjusts to twins ball in the middle of the field. Do you balance up and play a cover 3 or man free? Thoughts coach, thanks!

    • @CoachMac
      @CoachMac  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      That coverage will get RPO'D a bunch. We also carry a roll check where the Corner is the flat player and SS is in the Curl. That way he can handle the Stick with the Corner handling the Bubble. Every coverage has beaters, take away their best stuff. We play a bunch of man free also.

    Hey Coach good stuff glad the flow of videos is back now that the season is over. How did the 3-3 work out for you this year? Sticking with it or going back to the 4-2-5 ? I’m really on board with the hybrid 3-4 you spoke on with no flipping players except maybe F/B safeties , did you toy with that at all and if so how did it work out. Took a new job at a very small school and I’m looking to start off with no flipping and base out of okie , Merry Xmas Coach

    Great video, Coach. The coverage (10:35) where the FS does play #2 out, is there a name for that? It's not Quarters but at least up where I live in Ohio it is effective and I was wondering if there was an agreed-upon term for it

    • @CoachMac
      @CoachMac  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We treat that as a man scheme and call it Miami. Corner #1, FS #2, DS inside to fold runs and play #3 wide

    Great video coach. I coach youth football and was planning on running a 3-4, 3-3 stack defense. I have more DB/LB hybrids than d linemen coming up to me. Quarter coverage will be great cause I have aggressive safeties when it comes to run

    You had the CB and FS playing Palms/2 Read on #1 and #2 against 3x1 with the WS poaching #3 Vertical as a potential 3x1 check, but could you still have them play regular Quarters off #1 and #2 instead? Any advantages/disadvantages to it or just personal preference or gameplanning?

    • @CoachMac
      @CoachMac  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We have base checks vs 2 removed and 3x1 so it's easier for our kids to play sets with removed receivers in similar ways. As long as you poach #3 with WS you can do that. #2 on wheel with #3 in flat will be an issue by rule and usually why you don't see it as much.

    Hey coach, with a spread 2x2 or a pro-twins formation (11 personel) if i play true quarters, leaving the SS outside of #2, do I still lose too much in the run def? Or against these formations is still ok to be in "lighter" box

    • @CoachMac
      @CoachMac  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I personally play Quarters to the TE Side and 2 Read to the slot side. The issue you have is if you travel a Safety to the passing strength, then back to the TE/Flanker side you are limited with Coverages unless you want to play Quarters with your Will LB in the box. It's all personal preference.

    Hey coach I'm in my junior year in high school and I've been wanting to be a football coach for a while I'm planning on going to college for Physical Ed and coaching and sports management do you have any advice for me on how to go about learning more about coaching or getting experience in coaching ?

    • @CoachMac
      @CoachMac  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      You live in a world of immediate information. Social Media, Internet. Watch every piece of football coaching video you can. Start position by position learning techniques and fundamentals. Then go to different schematics on Offense and Defense, not just what you like but study everything. And make sure you study Special Teams, worth its weight in gold.

    Typical coach trying to get more out of a coverage than it’s worth. No way kids can Ck all this during a game. Btw coach 1/4 1/4 1/2 play completely different than 1/4 coverage. No way with all the movement kids can Ck in and out of that. To many mistakes will be made
