- In this video, I am playing The Thing pinball on Pinball M released by Zen Studios. This table is based off the 1982 movie from John Carpenter of the same name. This table features clips and sound bytes from the movie and the underlying score as well. If you're a fan of this movie you will have a blast playing this Thing inspired table!
I wish there was an online hot seat mode so you can play against ppl live and watch what your opponents are doing in their game and speak with them as you're playing. It would really make pinball a LOT more fun.
That's actually a really good idea. I think that would make the interactive, multiplayer experience a lot more fun. I remember playing Street Fighter lobbies like this where you'd watch people play like it was at an actual arcade!
the only pinball game which I know does this is Zaccaria Pinball - that feature should be standard for today's games, imo.
That's actually a really good point Guardian. I always forget about that feature in Zaccaria but it's so cool.
@@GuardianOfRlyeh It's rare that I play zaccurria tbh. I might give it another go and try the hotseat.
cool idea!
Love the sound of the flares lighting up
Same here! The sound effects on this table are top notch! My favorite is the score from the movie, I love it! Gives the table that same eerie feel that the movie gave, the chills :)
@@NewLeaf88 yeah I’m enjoying this game.
The mortal kombat table idea would be cool. I’m hoping for a Saw table, I’m imagining a spiral disc in the centre that spins.
Yeah, I would LOVE a Mortal Kombat themed table tbh. I think it's fairly possible too. Seeing a Saw table could also be cool ngl! I also see like a half shaped spiral disc in the middle that looks like a chainsaw or buzzsaw that cuts up the ball lol!
nice table. I'm impressed by the new "Pinball M" so far, even it is mostly FX with another theme and some cool features added.
Greetings Guardian! Yeah, I am enjoying this game as well. Really curious to see what other licenses and titles they add to this game in the future. We've got a lot of pinball to pick from - more Star Trek and original tables also coming out to Pinball FX.
I bought this first thing yesterday... It's brilliant
I agree Johnny! It's a nice adaptation from the movie :)
Curious, how did you obtain the table? From what I am viewing, it is locked?
Hello jwhite! You have to purchase this table on Pinball M. to unlock it. Let me know if this helps :)
@@NewLeaf88 I just typed it in to the search engine on my console and it appeared for purchase. Once I purchased the table, went back into Pinball M and The Thing was unlocked. In closing, I thank you for the prompt response!
My pleasure, glad it worked out for you! Enjoy!
I'm about to get this table later
I hope you enjoy it! Did you like the movie? I saw it for the first time not too long ago and it had me on my toes!
@@NewLeaf88 Top movie of the 80s The Thing, still great to watch again and again.
@@NewLeaf88 yeah the movie is good I enjoy the old ones more I think. I love the table as well the ambience is cool. Better on PC for some reason. I get them on both Xbox and PC.
That's what I've also heard regarding The Thing movies - that the older ones are better than the most recent one from 2011 I think. I only saw the 1982 version but I would like to watch the version from the 50's at some point.
Agreed, the ambiance on this table is really nice and feels just like the movie. I use a controller on my PC to simulate the console experience :)
@@NewLeaf88 the 2011 one is the prequel to the 1982 one :).
Awesome stuff.
Thank you Urko! I honestly did not see this one coming but this is why Zen Studios is great at what they do for exactly that reason! The sky is the limit!
The fact they get actual voice clips from the movies really adds a lot to these tables. Fantastic presentation and its a visually very unique table as well.
Do you have a favorite table so far from the set?
I absolutely love that they were able to add in voice and movie clips to really make it sound like the real thing. I love that eerie feel you get from playing this table very similar to the way the movie made you feel!
These tables with their DMD displays are very similar if not exactly to a PuP pack on VPX but without the hassle which is awesome. Zen Studios is really on the ball when it comes to the latest and greatest digitalized pinball experience.
I still need to get myself to VR though...
Do you have any experience playing VR Dom?
My favorite table by far is the Chucky table. It's got beautiful artwork on the playfield and just plays so well overall. Easily my favorite out of all of them so far.
Chucky definitely did look like the best of the bunch, although I havent watched your duke video yet.
My only experience with vr was with the Oculus when it was in early beta stages. I got to try a beta unit as they were showing it to developers and whatnot and the place I worked at had one. It wasn't my thing but then again, they only had horror games to showcase it with and those aren't my thing either, haha.@@NewLeaf88
Dom, I find that interesting actually! Because I know you enjoy horror movies but I didn't know you were not a fan of horror games. I'm not much of a horror gamer myself or a horror movie guy but you already knew that!
I would love to get into VR for the pinball aspect and I bet it would make the digital pinball experience that much more sweet since I cannot afford to build a cabinet of my own!
As for the Duke table, I am not really sold on it for some reason. Maybe because I didn't play a lot of Duke Nukem growing up but the table just seems a little "off" compared to the others in the bunch.
I would definately buy an extra version with original soundtrack.
That would be a neat idea actually!
@@NewLeaf88 This also true for all universal tables too.
Is it just me or, or does the ball trail for The Thing seem like it’s not working? Doesn’t look like the preview picture when you buy it. The other ball trails for the other tables are really bombastic
Hi Brett, I have not tried the ball trail cosmetic for The Thing myself. But it could very well be an early issue bug. I will get back to you when I try it :)
why anyone would use "ball trail" is beyond me.
To be fair, I think some people just enjoy special effects like ball trails because they sometimes look cool. I mean who doesn't want a trail of blood following your pinball on a horror table! I might add that it looks pretty cool on the Chucky table for Pinball M.
Just glad the option is there :)
So what is the Pinball M? Is this another Zen product? Clearly, I have not been paying enough attention to pinball lately. lol
Loren my friend, hello! Pinball M is another game from Zen Studios but with tables that are more adult-theme oriented. So more horror, more blood and more Maturity. The game does feature other things that Pinball FX doesn't like in-game tokens to upgrade flipper cosmetics, ball cosmetics, different ball trails, etc. Worth checking out though especially for the Chucky table, Loren!
@@NewLeaf88 I will have to download it this weekend. Sadly was too busy to do much this weekend, but i did get the new Xbox setup so I can stream it to my Handheld at night. Got to play a little Red Dead Redemption 1 last night on it while the wife watched bad Christmas shows on Netflix. lol
I would love to hear your thoughts on Pinball M Loren! I think they even have cabinet support but I am not 100%. I've never played the Red Dead Redemption series but I've heard great things about it. How many titles are there in total? Didn't a new one come out not too long ago?
Bad Christmas shows, ouch! Do you have any favorite christmas themed movies? I want to watch Jingle All The Way again and Santa Clause with Tim Allen (used to love watching those as a kid). There's so many great holiday themed movies tbh and a lot of bad ones at that!
Can anyone tell me how to hit the skillshot?
Hello Brett, I think there is an in-game guide for all the tables. I would look there first to see how to hit the skill shot, they usually have a video accompanying the description. Hope this helps Brett!
@@NewLeaf88 Even after the video I don't understand how I get it sometimes and don't.
Yeah it is a confusing skillshot tbh and the video and description doesn't really explain it that well.
@@anatomyG59 M-A-C is blinking for the 3 lanes, the lit one is the skillshot. To hit it every time pull the plunger all the way back and release it when C blinks the second time, you'll always hit the lit M.
kinda mad i can't play this, my PC sucks
I know that feel, pretzel. Do you have a console that you could play this on?
@@NewLeaf88 pinball FX barely runs on steam deck, so I doubt Pinball M will
@@pretzel6629 I play FX and M exclusively on the steam deck docked to a TV. What issues are you having with it?
pinball m runs smooth on deck @@pretzel6629
Sweet, thank you Boney_M for letting us know!
Whats this nonsense about tables not working if you are offline?
I did not hear about that but if I had to guess it would probably be because of the last patch which unfortunately added more bugs :(. Where did you see that btw?
@@NewLeaf88a couple of comments on steam. I like the theme but I do have to be offline quite a bit. This would be a fail for me.
I would say if you really want it, you could pick it up now or when it's on sale. Zen Studios usually will fix major bugs like that but I have not experienced tables not working offline, so you should be good.
