Thank you Ingrid! I'm just so confused on that on my end. I keep thinking I just need to have my base products and try my best to keep them in stock...but they just sit there. I really just don't know how to proceed.
Holly, thank you for coming back to make videos and soaps. I love your pack and chats, and your processes. Inflation and shrinkflation are everywhere, with economy trying to recover from pandemic to the wars which pushed a lot of the supply chain up. A lot of soapmakers have changed their recipe for cheaper oils and thank you for not compromising your recipe. It must be a bit of a shock coming back to the price increases and not as many sales as before. Smaller variety or edition might not a bad thing. I was considering taking up soapmaking, had my first child two weeks after lockdown - between covid and child there was a LOT of handwashing (similar reason to your story) and that habit kind of stuck. I had postnatal depression, watching soapmaking videos calms me! How I found your channel and I rewatched whilst you’re away. Played around with melt and pour but a handsy small child with lye? I’m not sure I’m ready to make that leap.
Thank you! My sales had been declining already so I guess it was foolish ultimately to come back. I do still panic that I will have to get a 'real' job. LOL I have tried just having a smaller line that I keep in stock but my customers seem to like the rotation more than having certain products readily available. It's just confusing. I have tried all sorts of different ways and none of them seem to just hit the nail on the head. I totally get the little hands thing. I had to make soap when my husband could fully watch kids and animals in another part of the house or take them outside, etc..
I love all your pack and chats but this one was very nice since we got to hear about how you became a soap maker! I love that you haven't changed your recipe... Please never change your recipe!!!!

Excellent video! As a soap maker, I can relate to the slower sales. I have also adjusted my batch sizes and I only carry about 6 different varieties.
