Paul , You performed a great service to your subscribers that had never been done before ! As far as I can tell no one on TH-cam has ever answered ALL of the questions asked by their subs . Thank You Paul for taking the time to make the four part video replies to ALL of us ! As for me , I have ordered the Palmolive stick , but It wont arrive until April ($8.40 ) but the Semogue 830 and my Personna Blue pack of 100 blades arrived today . ( and I had a devil of a time hiding this from my wife ) Thanks for a look at the shaving scuttle , it looks like a nice piece of kit. The flowers were , as always , beautiful too !
I've used them before. In the Hospital...below the belt...lol..The Flowers are A+...Good shave...I tried to order the medicated Thayers...sold out..more lemon for now...I enjoy your multi part videos...How could you call yourself a fan and not...Good info for the new shaver and old...I feel I know you better now...The post man in my neighbor hood always makes me happy.....He brings my shaving supplies to my door...he knows I'm waiting...lol..till the next shave...Paul...
They are called Medical Prep blades. They are used in hospitals to shave areas. They get an extra treatment when being made. They are very good blades, the other ones Personna Lab Blues are their cousins, and there's little to no difference in the quality. both are amongst the best blades you can get.
Fantastic shave Paul, never thought of using prep blades. I will be looking in the cupboard on my next shift, you never know. Beautiful roses, well done Mrs H. Keep up the good work Paul, good health.
At first i thought Q&A videos were going to suck, but I ended up watching them with joy. You are a legend and keep doing what you do. As a new member in wet shaving community I really need guys like you to educate me about this business. Keep going and hope you are doing excelent.p.s. sorry for my broken english
Just caught this shave video. Good stuff! Tried this soap & shaved with my Merkur Futur setting 3, Personna Comfort Coat blade. Sharp blade! Good lather, smooth and nice. Very nice combo. Used Ginger's Garden Havana Cognac after shave, no cologne. One of the best shaves I've encountered!!! Keep em comin' Paul!!!
Paul - that's the 2nd time you forgotten me! How can you forget the subscriber who encourages "The Shaving Snob", gave you the Robbins Instruments link for Med Preps, recommended Thayers Super Medicated about six months ago, gives you advice for you to discuss with your "writing team", writes long dissertations on the history of Brut and Old Spice, and requests you try TH-cam Live about once every two months! A Palmolive stick? How dare you! LOL! I'm amazed that you received the Personna Med Preps so fast! It was only a week or so ago I posted the Robbins Instruments link. The price should have been about £ 27.28 (pounds sterling).
+Shave- a-thon Good links you gave, I had good service from them, and love both products, also I don't mind paying more, especially for good service.. so thank you for your comments as always....all the best....Paul.
Fantastic as usual Paul. Loved it. Now I know what I'm going to shave with tomorrow. Gillette Slim twist, Arko and a Persona Blade (I don't have the prep blades....yet). The impressions crack me up, but don't give up your day job...LOL! Thanks for sharing.
I tried shaving a two-days growth on my second last shave and found it irritating. Gave my beard a four day break and had a shave tonight, amazing shave! Your sort of shave schedule seems to work for me too. I like to have enough beard to offer the blade some resistance lol. The shaves are so much more enjoyable. Scuttles are amazing things, aren't they? I love putting mine in the microwave for a minute after pouring in some warm tap water. I let it sit while I shower, and when I shave the lather remains warm throughout the shave. It's an amusing sensation with menthol soaps, the lather goes from feeling warm to cold rather quick!
+KingofWisdom Yes I get much better shaves the longer I leave the growth, very enjoyable as you say, the menthol is interesting using the warm method, then turning cold...nice. all the best....Paul.
A lot of folks discount Arko and Proraso, I think it may be due to the low cost or that most of us start with them. Ive found that my lathering technique has improved such that these "beginner" soaps perform far better now than when I started. I've just acquired a scuttle and man oh man nothing beats a warm lather. Cheers Paul and keep it up.
+Rabbi Of Wetshaving Very true that, I think that is why they have a place in peoples shaves for many years, glad you enjoy the scuttle, can't beat it...all the best....Paul.
I find that I need to add quite a bit of water (~1 tablespoon) to make my Arko slick enough so that the Astra SP in my R89 does not skip and cut me. Previously, I was making thick luscious lathers with my Arko which were nice to look at but weren't slick enough.
I shave my head with a DE razor, works beautifully actually! One of the main reasons I made the switch to DE. So no need for Cartridge razors for Head shavers!
Ciao Paul. Thanks to your videos I've ordered the Thayers Lemon Witch Hazel... Can't wait to use it... You always give some good advice Great shave as usual.. That Personna seems to be a really good blade. Raffaele
The nice thing where I live, GNC the health food store carry the entire Thayer's line and cost $9. This is one of my favorite parts of my shave and a must for me.
Hi Paul. A great video with lots of humor. Thank you.ChrisP.S. I tried using the pre shave oil before each pass as you suggested to during your Q & A (to avoid neck irritation). It has made a bit of an improvement.
Whoop whoop! Amazing shave, I'm doing fine at the moment. Glad I'm not the only one waiting on an order. I've got my order coming in from Stirling Soap Co. God, I hope to one day see you use that. Are those roses by the way? Lovely display anyways. You take care Paul, we'll see you on Sunday. Oh, and have a good Easter holiday.
had a great time watching! sorry I might have woke ya! banging on your mirror but just had a good little scoff down at the cafe and they even let me watch the shave on the big screen TV above the bar! Everyone seemed to get a kick out of it! Especially when you were talking to Geeves! :-) Funny you mentioned that turtleus thing, they told me you were on the phone and when I went to the phone booth and shut the door I was standing in my bathroom looking in the mirror with my razor held to my ear looking at you signing off the video! but I had a napkin tucked in my collar and some egg on it! So now of course I won't be able to meet you, I will just have to go with you on the video for our walk and Scoff about! atb see you in a bit! Flowers did look nice! :-) and the little Tartus shelf in the background! :-) Mark in Texas!
Beautiful Shave Paul ! And GORGEOUS ROSES Mrs H ! Thanks Paul , the Med Preps , I know , are fantastic , but I haven't tried them , yet for a regular shave . Only the Special ones , Capishe' ? : ( But did the trick . I'm going to look for that Thayers Medicated . Nice Extras ! Thanks again Paul ! Blessed Good Friday and Resurrection Sunday ! Have a Great remainder of the week . Be Well !
+Michael Ray Thanks very much Michael, not sure about Capishe blades, hope you enjoy the Thayers Medicated, fantastic stuff..have a nice Easter weekend too.....Paul.
Nice and funny video - your enthusiasm is contagious Sir - I'm going to shave now although it's night in Australia (I can't wait until morning now...). I use DE razors for shaving head and only BIC Sensitive 2 blade cartridge just to clean some spots afterwards - much better shave thanks to DE. Have a nice day and I look forward to your next videos!
Very nice shave Paul, and you even managed to throw in a beautiful period piece Mini Drama 😌👏 I'm another happy DE head shaver, I used to get loads of ingrowing hairs when I used that cartridge rubbish on my head in the dim and distant past.😩
Paul, I use the Personna Blue (I can not tell the Prep from the Blue) in the Futur on 6 90% of the time. It is a great set up. You should also try the blade also with a r41.
You can pick the blades up from Connaught Shaving in the UK, but the price isn't far off what you paid tbh (unless you qualify for free delivery or use a discount code from one of the forums).
I'm doing great, thank you very much. Caught up with all your video's, enjoyed it, better than TV. well, not really ALL your videos but the recent ones. Thank you for making them. Bought some Taylor of old bond street cream this weekend. Went to a shaving shop so could smell them all, they didn't have grapefruit unfortunately. I went for a tub of Eton College, I found that the best smelling of the bunch. And monday I received a package from Portugal, have a guess... Semogue 830 of course.
+Dan Lutter Yes, I know I will. :) Actually after a few lathers (without shaves) it is getting softer. I also love my 4 euro Omega, that is very nicely broken in, but I fear for the plastic handle. So I granted myself a little something and finally ordered the semogue.
Hi Paul, It's my first upper class soap, all my other soaps are products for the peasantry. Just a question how do you get the ToBS cream on the brush? Do you take a little scoop with your finger tip, or do you push the hairs of the brush into the cream? Or you let your butler do the lathering?
Nice video Paul. The Personna Lab Blues have been my go to blade for nearly 2 years. I believe they are the same blade but without a sterile coating /cleansing. I got them from Connaughtshaving for a decent price
Thanks for another great video Paul. I never laughed more in one of your videos than in this one. The whole bit with the peasants was more humorous here than ever. Thanks for creating wonderful videos, that I greatly enjoy.
Brilliant shave Paul.!! I have that Bay Rum and a Scuttle and love a warm Lather. Got chase that W/Hazel you have as only got the Lemon. !! Nobody is having my Arko Either ??????? LOL
I'm so sad. The knot on my Semogue 830 fell out of the handle. It's about three years old so the online retailer I bought it from won't cover it anymore since its out of warranty.
Hi Paul. How are YOU doing? Great video again.I would like to see a review from you about the russian adjustable ideal razor. Greetings to you and Mrs. H .Have a nice easter festival and keep on filming your shaves
The Med Preps are prized for smoothness, Paul. Personally I can't tell too much of a difference between it and the Lab Blues as far as how they cut but I suspect that the extra processing the Med Prep gets kind of 'deburrs' the edge a little more so adds to the smoothness (after all you don't want them shaving your 'wobbly dangly bits' before theatre with a nasty rough edge do ya?) . They're a good blade to be sure. You'll enjoy those mate! I'll have Brabinger pick me up some on the high street, old fruit!
hey Paul, I'm not sure if you have ever tried gillette 7 o'clock super stainless, but they are very similar to the persona blue. Nick shaves rated them top blade for 2015. they are my go to blade, sharp and smooth just like the persona. they are easily got as the are made in Russia. they are packaged in a green box. if you buy them make sure they are the Russian blades and not the middle east ones. the Russian ones are far superior. great shave today Paul, sorry about trying to grab the thayers through the screen, couldn't help myself!
+Jeff Brewster While my favorite blades are the Gillette Silver Blues, I find the 7 O'Clock Yellows to be very good, too. I haven't tried the Greens yet. I've seen Nick Shaves review and he really liked them, but as I've written before, Nick Shaves doesn't do the all-important XTG pass on the neck when most, if any irritation occurs, so I put a little less value on his blade review videos than I do reviews of other products he uses.
7 oclock greens were the first blades I bought when I started wet shaving. got lucky and found good blades from the start. I've tried a lot since and they still rate way up there for me. Of the gillette blades, so far the platinum ones have been the best in my opinion. haven't tried the silver blues. They are on my to do list.
+Jeff Brewster Normally I get about 4 shaves per blade regardless of the brand (Derby's are a bit less). My last Gillette Silver Blue resulted in 7 shaves and with the current one in my Merkur Futur, I'm on my 11th shave!
+Jeff Brewster Yes I have tried those blades, and they also worked well for me, Personna have always been a good blade, never had any problems in regards to performance...thanks Jeff.....Paul.
+shavefan12 There is no particular reason for it, but the adjustable just does, always wanted a Fat Boy (Executive in the UK)...and love it too. Thanks ......Paul.
Great video and like your humor! I also like good old Arko but these prep blades dissapointed me a bit, maybe my expectations were too high and maybe I also should have used a mild razor instead of an OC. Just like Feather they gave me razor burn on the first shave, were excellent on the 2nd but lost their sharpness on the 3rd. Good blade indeed but worth the money (I got 25 for 10€ incl. shipping)? Not for me if I can get Astra Super Platinum at less than a quarter of the price and are almost as sharp but keep the edge up to 4 or 5 shaves. Have a fantastic Eastern! :-)
+João Carlos Soares Shame they didn't work that well in the OC razor, good way to find what blades work for you, glad you like the humor..lol...all good fun...all the best...Paul.
😂😂😂 Fucken Paul man, you are a Character. Man I love watching your Chanel/Reviews. You could make ones bad day great one just by watching your vids. Trust me, I know. Your like Social Media Therapy dr./Counselor. Have a great day Paul and keep up the good work 👍🏼
Paul, I wanted to let you know that I tagged you in my latest video. I was tagged by Hunter Green to talk about my very first DE Shave gear. If you have time I would love to see your response! Take care - Rich
I hear its habit forming sir?! come on chives! we must leave at once! yes sir at once! peasantry! lol whats is the butler's name paul? super hazel i see i hear you can crush menthol crystals and add them to any witch hazel product to get that cool feeling!
Nothing better that a waterer shave!
+lifeguard2564 Yes if it works best for you, fantastic.
Paul , You performed a great service to your subscribers that had never been done before ! As far as I can tell no one on TH-cam has ever answered ALL of the questions asked by their subs . You will never get on my nerves Paul! Rather have too much videos than too few.
Keep it up :)
+kasoy1 Thank you very much.
I shave everyday with my Crown King scuttle, it may add 5 minutes to my shave but it is sooo worth it. As Paul would say, " Luxurious"
+Tony Marinelli Can't beat it Tony..
Thanks Paul for this and all the extra videos recently. Enjoyed them all.
+Ken C. Thank you Ken, much appreciated.

+eric whitlow You appreciate soaps more like that, after a gap in using them...thanks Eric.
I like the cupboard! I always enjoy when the Shaving Snob comes out. I find myself talking into the shaving mirror" How dare you!" lol
+Alan Andresen Thank you Alan, glad I am not alone talking to myself too..lol.
Peppermint. :-)
Thank you for using Thayer's that I recommended to you a few months ago. I am going to use it again tomorrow. Cheers, Mark

I, sir, am proud to be a peasant! I loved the conversation you just had with yourself! Rolled on the floor. Wife thought I was having another episode.
+Donald Navygoat23 Me too Donald, his Lordship gets carried away at times...hope your keeping well, and have a nice Easter Weekend.....Paul.
I find that I need to add quite a bit of water (~1 tablespoon) to make my Arko slick enough so that the Astra SP in my R89 does not skip and cut me. Previously, I was making thick luscious lathers with my Arko which were nice to look at but weren't slick enough.
+portydert portydert It is good when you find that right consistency for your skin and gives the best shave...thanks and all the best....Paul.

Paul, I use the Personna Blue (I can not tell the Prep from the Blue) in the Futur on 6 90% of the time. It is a great set up. You should also try the blade also with a r41.
+hobbitofny Yes intend to try them in different razors, good blades, thanks...Paul.

+Vilmore you are going to love that 830 after it breaks in. It takes about 25-30 to do so.
+Dan Lutter Yes, I know I will. :) Actually after a few lathers (without shaves) it is getting softer.
I also love my 4 euro Omega, that is very nicely broken in, but I fear for the plastic handle. So I granted myself a little something and finally ordered the semogue.
+Vilmore thank you, and you should love the semogue 830....fantastic brush...eton colledge is a great scent....all the best...Paul.
Hi Paul, It's my first upper class soap, all my other soaps are products for the peasantry.
Just a question how do you get the ToBS cream on the brush? Do you take a little scoop with your finger tip, or do you push the hairs of the brush into the cream? Or you let your butler do the lathering?
I vote for the butler
Nice video Paul. The Personna Lab Blues have been my go to blade for nearly 2 years. I believe they are the same blade but without a sterile coating /cleansing. I got them from Connaughtshaving for a decent price
Smoothness is the term I think you're looking for to describe them
+DeeDeeDanone Thanks for that ! Needed to know , Like Paul said sharp but discreet...
Yes , Smoothness with a capital S...
+DeeDeeDanone Great blades, really impressed.....thanks...Paul.
Very nice shave. I am curious about those prep blades. Would love to acquire some, one day.
+Don Fraysier They are very good blades, hope you try some at some point....Paul.
Thanks for another great video Paul. I never laughed more in one of your videos than in this one. The whole bit with the peasants was more humorous here than ever. Thanks for creating wonderful videos, that I greatly enjoy.
+Rick L Thanks Rick, glad you enjoyed it, all good fun....Paul.
I'm doing well, thanks for asking. How are you? Us peasants like a waterer shave. Love it! Great shave, Paul.

Got chase that W/Hazel you have as only got the Lemon. !! Nobody is having my Arko Either ??????? LOL
+Chris Morley Thanks Chris, can't beat it, and you should like the Super Hazel too....all the best...Paul.
I'm so sad. The knot on my Semogue 830 fell out of the handle. It's about three years old so the online retailer I bought it from won't cover it anymore since its out of warranty.
+shavefan12 That is a great shame, and not good just being three years old either...have you tried contacting Semogue themselves?...you never know.
One more great video from "Paul the Serf"***Philip and I are not amused***
+William Owen Does Philip have 2 L's ...Blimey i might be put in stocks
+William Owen Thank you .

Great video. Am I correct in saying the shaving cabinet behind you is new?
+Jeremy Vuozzo Thank you, yes it is new.....Paul.
Correct me if I'm wrong but the word I think you were thinking is sharp but SMOOTH
+Brad Thornburg Exactly the word I was looking for, thanks Brad.

+cigarbufff Lol... very funny.
Looking good mate. Thanks for sharing. Have a great weekend.
+Hunter Green Thanks very much, have a great weekend too....Paul.
+PaulHFilms 👌😉
hey Paul, I'm not sure if you have ever tried gillette 7 o'clock super stainless, but they are very similar to the persona blue.
Question Paul. Why do you prefer the Gillette slim adjustable over the fat boy adjustable?
+João Carlos Soares Shame they didn't work that well in the OC razor, good way to find what blades work for you, glad you like the humor..lol...all good fun...all the best...Paul.
if you leave a slice of ARKO in the scuttle for months and months, does the soap not dry up and crack on you...???
No, as it is so small it seems to remain OK.....I just add water before I use it, and it's as good as ever.
Okay great thx :)
Three cheers for Mr. Shaving Snop! Hozaah! Hozaah! Hozaah!
+Vilmore Thank you...Hooray!

I appeared to have hurt your thumb. Did you slam it on a door perhaps?
+P “hi” Burns Yes shut a door on it. lol.
I'm always fine, mr. Paul. And you, how do you doing?
+Bruno Miguel Very well thanks.
I understand exactly what you mean about the blades being "discreet".. ;)
+WolfRanger2008 Fantastic blade, worked well in this razor for me...all the best..Paul.
