This is extraordinary reasoning, a specific that hadn't occurred to me before in quite this way. It's clear the Bible wasn't written to control people but its origin among oppressed people is a perspective that's never brought up. Thanks a lot for sharing this.

Symbols was the language of story telling n certain grunts n vocal sounds were for immediate things like...I'm hungry...hands indicating motion of putting something in one's mouth or rubbing tummy n moaning. God said Satan was the great desever and he would deseve us. When your touched by God, you never forget it. As for the Vatican...the church....Don't forget when the priest offered money(the first bribe) to Judas, well that's the day Satan walked into the church and Jesus said..."where 2 or more people are gathered in my name, I will be there". Faith ...do you have it, can be scary but worth it. Try it

    TRANSCRIPT
I think this is a common assumption to make, and I think it's an easy assumption to make, given how Central the Bible has been to the heart of Western Imperial and Colonial culture. The Bible has been party to countless horrors and violences throughout human history, and so I sympathize with this assumption on a certain level. However, at the end of the day, this assumption is false.
Just because the Bible has been used in a particular way, does not mean that that was the purpose that the Bible was created for. It's very easy to forget, but the Bible was written exclusively - exclusively - by marginalized peoples. Peoples who suffered at the hands of some of the most brutal Empires the world has ever seen.
It was not written to control anyone, because the people who wrote it had no power to control anyone. It was written to give a marginalized people hope - hope in a good God who acts decisively in history. And it was written to give people a sense of identity based on the worship of that good God, that was durable enough that they could outlast their oppressors.
And the Bible has accomplished this function well: There is no Assyrian Empire anymore, there is no Babylonian Empire anymore, there is no Persian Empire anymore, there is no Greek Empire anymore, there's no Roman Empire anymore, but there are Jews.
There are people of Jewish faith, and there are people of Christian faith who claim descent from people of Jewish faith, and the only reason that that's so, fundamentally, is because of the purpose that the Bible was written for, and because of the success of that purpose.
I pray for a day when the Bible's other uses have been extinguished from history, and we no longer have to worry about them, but we should not confuse those uses with its purpose.

It was written to guide people. Meaning that our world operates from certain laws , that is the law and order of good and evil. The Bible was meant to free us from our evil nature. Unfortunately people of power manipulated the books to fit their agenda to control.
The ancient eastern philosophy of karma, is similar to the idea of reaping what you sow. There are consequences of the choices we make in our lives.

Then if the Bible fulfilled it's original purpose a long time ago, is it even needed any more, I mean is everything about it even necessary to the current time period, a lot has happened in over 2000 years, we have more advanced science, technology & medical practices, a better understanding of our planet, of our bodies, of our minds, even of our universe, and there is still more to learn, but with everything we have nowadays, do we really need to keep the Bible around if it already did what it was supposed to do during the time when it was written?

The Bible reveals the Unreality of the Material Dream of the Mind, and the Reality of Spirit/God as the Only Presence!
The Truth and Untruth are placed next to each other in the Bible to show us Immortal Spirit as Reality, and the Mental Distortion we call Finite Form that we Entertain as Reality.
    For Example: Genesis 2:4
"These are the generations of the heavens and of the earth when they were created, in the day that the Lord God made the earth and the heavens"
This is a symbol of stepping out of Divine thought into Human thought, and the most important verse in beginning the Development of Spiritual Discernment.
*God/Spirit "CREATED" the Heavens and the Earth in a 7th Day Perfect Consciousness in which Heaven(Omnipresence) is the Activity of Truth in the Consciousness of all Spiritual Beings, making the Spiritual Body of Earth a Playground for the Experience of the Spiritual Body of "Christ" or God Consciousness....
*The Lord God(world mind/mortality/finite body)"MADE" the Earth and the Heavens, and this places the Activity of Truth in the material world of the senses. This is a turning away from God, from OMNIPRESENCE! This is Atheism!
The bible is quite subtle in its message because it was written for those who exist in the Spiritual Kingdom of God Creation.
Very few are able to grasp this, hence the reason the message of the Illumined has been accepted as religious beliefs!!
Through the many characters in the bible we are given the difference between what it means to accept Immortal Spirit as Reality, or accept Finite Material World Mind Consciousness as Reality!
Flesh and Blood are not of God, but of the imitation of God! Of the False Sense of the World Mind!
    MATTHEW 7:13-14
"Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, that leadeth unto life, and few be that find it."
Which part of this Scripture sounds like a belief in religion or science based understanding, the wide gate that the overwhelming majority of people on Earth accept as truth, that leadeth to separation, destruction, hatred, racism, jealousy, judgement, lack, imprisonment, illness, evil, etc, that hasn't once Demonstrated the Reality of Spirit/God as Truth, as the Perfection it is....
Or the strait gate, the narrow gate that is the Acknowledgement and Acceptance that SPIRIT/God as the only Presence, therefore I(Spirit)and My Father(Spirit) are One, that leadeth to life everlasting, and Grace as thy Sufficiency??
Nothing of the material world is of Spirit/God. Therefore, why Interpret Spiritual Manuscripts such as the Bible, the Quran, or the Bhagavad Gita through a Material Thought Process? I wouldn't, and neither would Students of Mysticism for whom they were originally written!
The Christ message that Spirit/God is the Only Presence is the Point, not Jesus the illusory form that is nothing and can do nothing of itself!! Where everything appears to be only God is!!
The Cornerstone of the Christ Teaching is:
    GOD/SPIRIT IS OMNIPRESENT!
    (God/Spirit is the Only Presence)
Therefore, to Be Reborn is to Overcome the Belief of a Human Birth, and Accept God as the Only Presence, not to worship a Graven Image! What is not Spirit is not Real....!!
Every Temptation of this World is Meaningless when you know the Truth of Your Immortal Being!!

What about those who follow Christ and adhere to the idea that the Bible is inspired by God but don't attend any denomination and simply believe and worship in their daily lives by living humbly and studying scriptures on their own?
I'd beg to say most truly born again believers live their lives this way. And I would venture to guess most of the people who attend regular church are not truly born again- but are rather 'religious' without the true life changing experience only God can bring about in a person's heart.
      Just my own personal observations.

The Bible is tried and true. Literally over and over in the book of Psalms KJV.. we see that the Bible is tried and true. Why? Well because of fulfilled prophecy and mathematics / statistics / probability we can see that all of the prophecies that God said would be fulfilled were fulfilled up to a point... Because of that we can conclude by the law of inference that the rest of them will be fulfilled just like God said. So atheists are actually foolish... Believing their own delusions... And not intellectual like they think they are.The gospel. Jesus Christ died for your sins, according to the scriptures, and that he was buried and rose again the third day according to the scriptures. Acknowledge your a sinner, ask Jesus Christ to forgive you, put your trust in his finished work on the cross / his shed blood that can cleanse your sin.. and ask him to forgive you and save you. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

1 Corinthians 2:14 "But the natural [unbelieving] man does not accept the things [the teachings and revelations] of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness [absurd and illogical] to him; and he is incapable of understanding them, because they are spiritually discerned and appreciated, [and he is unqualified to judge spiritual matters]."
I can actually attest that this is true. I wasn't a true believer until I was 36 years old until I had a real encounter with the Holy Spirit. I didn't own a Bible at that time, but I had grown up going to church and read scripture/heard scripture being preached during sermons. I didn't understand any of it.
However, after I had that life changing encounter, I purchased a Bible and I was able to understand exactly what scripture was saying! It's like a light bulb came on that I couldn't find the switch to when I was younger. Scripture is clear- like the verse above- that without the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, the natural person (unbeliever) is not able to understand it. They just can't. I'm living proof of the truth of this verse. And anyone who's truly been born again will attest to this as well. It's just one personal sign for me that He is absolutely real, and His Word is truth.

It's also a correct assumption. Jesus was an ordinary man who tapped into the cosmic consciousness that we can all tap into. When you find it, you know it and you tell people about it. And he did. But he was misinterpreted. As we all know , most of the bible was written hundreds of years after jesus lived by people that were not there. The classic example being the story of Jesus in the desert alone for 40 days and 40 nights , with the devil. This story was written 400 years later , by someone who wasn't there!!! (Else jesus wasn't alone!). If you read the bible some words are in italics or slanted . You know why?? Because these are words that have been INTERPRETED, from earlier text in different language. So the meaning has been altered. Jesus wasn't exclusive. He wasn't the only man that can tap into this. He wasn't the son of god , he was A son of God. God being the Universe. And if you believe he was holy and he was the son of god and that only through him can you find peace , then you are being controlled!! 'God' is the natural world , 'God' is the universe . You don't need 'God' to have morals or good thoughts. The Bible is trying to scare and control you. Wake up.
