      Mlst lf it os left tp the imagination to be extrapolated and expanded on even after GRRM death.
      Aby brilliant fictional writer would do that. Giving you hints and some details, and leave some mystery to be explored later on. And even then, other places can still be added within these vast regions and continents. @spectre9948

    George R.R. Martin draws a lot of inspiration from the works of H.P. Lovecraft in his world-building. Its no wonder, for before writing A Song of Ice and Fire saga, he was already acknowledged horror and sci-fi author. The tv series is actually a lot "milder", than the characters and events on the books. You really notice George's love for gorry and horror on his novels.

    Yeen sounds a bit like Shadar Logoth (Shadow's Waiting - and formerly known as Aridhol) in Robert Jordan's 'The Wheel of Time'. That city is also completely evil since the king of Aridhol was (mis)guided by his advisor Mordeth to treat the invading forces of the Dark One with such cruelty that they would fear the fores of the Light defending the Ten Nations during the Trolloc Wars. Their warcry was "The victory of the Light is all", showing how much they were devoted to the cause. During the Battle for Manetheren, the forces and inhabitants of Aridhol, who had sworn to come to aid their allies, locked themselves in their great city. After the Trolloc Wars, the other nations found the city to be completely abandoned. At night, there's an evil mist (Mashadar) that consumes all living things inside the city. Even a Trolloc army once completely vanished overnight, leaving only cries of help to the Dark One on the walls. In the books, nobody enters that city willingly.

    • @Jon.A.Scholt
      @Jon.A.Scholt ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Out of all the characters D&D did dirty, Euron has to be at or near the top. The Forsaken, with all its trippy imagery and the Valyrian Steel armor reveal at the end, shows how badly they botched Euron. They turned him into a caricature of a pirate, and a poorly one done at that, instead of the charismatic Eldritch sorcerer/pirate that he really is.

    • @roguechevelle
      @roguechevelle ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Well D & D effectively neutered the show because they didn't like "fantasy and magic" even though the world is fantasy based. Most people at first thought they were just trying to make the story more digestible for the general public to get them interested in a fantasy show but nope by the later seasons it was clear they just didn't like the fantasy elements period because they left out so many crucial elements to the story that I feel even George would have questioned them about leaving them out.

    Gives a lot of insight into how Westerosi society is from a lower class person, rather than a high lord or King.

    I love that you're making content like this. As the video mentions, it is likely that much of it is exaggerated, comparable to explorers hundreds of years ago reporting to have seen fantasy creatures that were likely just normal animals they hadn't seen before. Columbus claimed to have seen mermaids, for instance. People used to believe elephant skulls were proof of giant Cyclops creatures, as they believed the hole for the trunk was a giant eye socket.
    These stories are just like that - except for the fact that this is in a very different world, so certain parts of it could actually be close to the truth.

    As much as I love Arya Stark, she was not Azor Ahai. Azor Ahai was a hero who defeated the white walkers thousands of years ago. The new Azor Ahai or "The Prince/ Princess who was promised" would be the original Azor Ahai reborn. It is said that the Prince who was promised would unite Westeros to battle the white walkers once again. The only person in "Game of Thrones" that we know who did this was Jon Snow. However, don't forget that George R.R. Martin has not finished his books of "A Song of Ice and Fire." So as far as we know (from the books) is that Jon Snow is currently dead. Anything that happened in "Game of Thrones" from season 6 down has not happened in the books yet.

      The person who ended the Long Night was the Last Hero, when R'hllorist heard about his tales, they claim that he was their god's champion, Azor Ahai, a christian would have claim that he was Jesus Christ.
      Same thing with the Prince that was Promised, R'hllorist thinks/perceive the Prince as Azor Ahai, christians would think that's Jesus Christ coming back.
      So there was no guy named Azor Ahai per se, it was the Last Hero and now people have visions of a new person leading the fight against the Others, in visions he appears as a Prince and R'hllorist thinks that it's their god sending his champion, Azor Ahai.

    Alt Shift X is the best in depth GoT content creator there is... Just be careful with HotD spoilers because he might say a few things regarding that timeline. Other than that, I'd recommend all of his videos.

    Hi guys! Love your videos! Alt Shift X does great videos about Game Of Thrones and House of the Dragon. All really informative and well structured. BLOOD RAVEN: WHAT'S THE THREE-EYED RAVEN SECRET PLAN? from Alt Shift X is really good.
    The three- eyed crow is so mysterious, the show didn't do him justice.
    It's a great video and I hope you watch it at some point.

    You're not far off the mark about this stuff being far fetched, exaggerated, or unreliable. In a lot of cases (as in real-world history) we only have first or even second or third hand accounts of this stuff written down by a single author with potential biases, xenophobia, and/or political leanings or motivations. Martin and his team have done a great job mimicking the "fog of history" when it comes to unreliable accounts.

    Really, the imagination and world building of GRR is on par with JRR. Would be cool if a series like Lord of The Rings was done in this world. Or maybe that's too similar, even if everything is different.
